invert y axis: on

absolutely subhuman.

Super-Glue a mouse to the top of your head...go ahead...I'll wait.......

Ok is the mouse firmly glued to the top of your head? Good!

Reach up with one hand and pull the mouse backward. Did it cause your head to look up?

Now, with the same hand, push the mouse forward, Did it cause to to look down?

INVERT Y IS THE ONE TRUE WAY. GET WITH IT WRONGO-SHITLORD.

Good thing we don't play with our mouse on our heads!

A better example is a flight stick. I imagine inverted Y is popular because flight sims came before FPSs and people used to play them with flight sticks (still do, if you count console controller sticks).

It is dumb though.

Man im so sick of post FX that makes your game look like you smeared feces over the screen, in Mafia3 you cant even turn it off.

Whichever you prefer, they should never disable the option to switch it, most people cannot unlearn the one they know, plus game developpers should stop taking themselves so god-damn seriously and think their one game is worth relearning 25 years of muscular memory. Only now can I play the GameCube Rogue Squadron games, thanks to the Dolphin emulator. Back in the day I had to take them both back to the store as they were absolutely, completely unplayable to me.

That also goes for horizontal axis by the way, especially for third-person camera. A lot of games still have the view go left when you push right. I guess you are supposed to think of it as moving the camera, i.e. you moving around the character, as opposed to moving the point of view.

Honestly you should just switch and get used to it since non-inverted is standard. It doesn't take that long to re-learn. I've actually switched myself to inverted just to see what would happen and it's not as bad as you think. At first you'll be doing the wrong thing and correcting yourself. Then a few hours later you'll be aiming decently well, but you'll find it takes more concentration and your movement control/ability to think about other things will suffer (and this is probably the most frustrating stage, because you literally just feel dumber). Then 10-20 hours later and its pretty much natural.

I don't disagree that remapping ability is good, but there's no reason not to switch to the standard of two equally-usable schemes.

Yes there is, and that reason is player choice.
Yes, and some games won't have it. So you might as well switch now. There's no relevant choice here, it's just flipping the control scheme.

Plus inverted is not the standard you present it as, only in flight sims is it overwhelmingly popular. In fact as I said above, almost all games I bought the last two decades had up-for-up at default... and we know the average player doesn't know what rebinding means, so chances are that's what they use too.

Where did I say inverted was standard? We're not talking about flight sticks.

For an old C64 game, that was incredibly impressive to see. It is like literately the precursor to System Shock.

While I like the idea of VR porn it's going to be an issue if you don't have a fleshlight. You don't want to remove the headset only to realize that you just came everywhere.

Don't worry I am sure Sony is designing a Playstation fleshlight as we speak

VR porn means you have no idea your wife just came home early.

It can be dangerous in the wrong hands.
