Now Todd Howard himself - I hear people whinge and whine about Todd all day, people [censored]ing about the effort he has put in to Oblivion, how he sucks, how he "Doesn't read books" well, the truth is;

Todd Howard earns more money than you.
He probably drives a Jag or some other car you will only see in the motoring magazine
He probably owns a massive house
He is well respected
He has admiration from MILLIONS
He is probably better looking than you
He probably has more friends than you

Chuck Norris jokes are apparently getting old at ESF, but who needs Chuck? :)

RETARD ALERT!
Wow, that's just... pathetic!

BTW, yesterday, for the first time, former fanboy stargelman had one of his posts ... deleted! I mentioned the Codex. I wonder if that is why?

Really? I thought it was because Pete was afraid that if the devs graced any form of critizism with a reply, they'd somehow magically validate it. Isn't that why they're not posting on the Codex anymore?
Well, that's what they told me. Any mention of the Codex will be deleted. Have a nice day.

Morrowind

I'm not going over the details of what made Morrowind so good, you all know them by heart however i did have a few complains about it and those are worth to mention beacuse there were corrected in Oblivion.

1- I was getting sick of text dialogue so i hated that part of the game.
2- I hated the fact that all the cool looking gear have to be covered by clothes for your char to be a top efficiency, like putting any of the horrible looking robes completely covering your armor. see i think combat in the middle ages was so cool looking not because of clothes but because of the beautifully crafted armors they made, covering them would be a shame.
3- Weather was a real pain in the [censored], especially in the Dagoth Ur region
4- The transportation system wasn't that great. That i beleaved because levitation combined with the Boots of Blinding Speed rendered fast travel crappy except when you were right there next to one.
5-Lack of level scaling. I didn't like the fact that after i finished building my char everyone will die in one hit since they were all 30 levels or so below me.
6- Magic being nothing but a backup of melee. The lack of magic regeneration turned it into a joke compared to the melee with enchant combo.
The infamous illiterate new generation.

Oblivion

After a huge portion of my life spent playing video games, i began to wonder how will the games of the future will look like, in the late 90's i thought that virtual reality was the next big thing and that by now no games like the ones we have will exist, but i was again wrong.

We were meant to be inside our games through immersion not isolation devices, so after realizing that the idea of Oblivion became the clear future inside my mind, even before Beth announced Oblivion. I imagined a game with graphics this good, the ability to be mod, and all the problems i have dealt with in other titles (like Morrowind) corrected.

And that game is Oblivion, made a reality now. Some of you will remember me for arguing in these forums against the many complains that people have with the game such as "Fast travel ruined Oblivion" "Level scaling sucks" "Oblivion s-u-c-k-s" and that sort of things. some of you will tell me they have a right to say so and i will tell you and i have a right to say they are wrong.

The true is i love Oblivion, The game is my only reason to still view my computer as an entertaining device and not a working one, and it hurts watching people trying to destroy the game in such vile way.
Reading is teh isolation device.

I have started wondering. What if all this increased nazi movement at ESF is just preparation for the announcement of FO3's feature list which will make half of the internet to demand Toddling's head on silverplate? :o

Now that sums up Todd Howard, but back to Fallout;

Anyone notice that list of 7 things is actually only 3 things repeated?

Todd Howard earns more money than you.
He probably drives a Jag or some other car you will only see in the motoring magazine.
He probably owns a massive house
= Todd has a job (and / or is in debt up to his eyeballs paying off a car and a house he can't afford).

He is well respected
He has admiration from MILLIONS
He probably has more friends than you
= Todd has friends.

He is probably better looking than you
= Todd is a pornstar... Wait, I think I'm on to something!

An epic study: Why did Oblivion turn out the way it did? Hmm?
http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/inde ... pic=498537

Poll:
...
Is Oblivion a major change of direction from Morrowind? 65% - Yes, 23% - No

What were the developer's objectives for Oblivion?
Simplify gameplay and make it far more assessable for the average gamer - 59%
Address complaints from MW and fix them - 17%
Part of constant change (to keep things from getting stale) - 12%

Does the more direction work for you? 50% - No, 27% - Yes
...
I wonder what Bethesda thinks of all that.

Oblivion is so good that the flaws are much more obvious.
Everyone who likes the game in playing it, so only the whiners visit the forums.
People don't like change.
People just like to complain.

Since 75% of the older fans who complain will still buy the games, and many new people will due to the mainstreaming, why should they care?

Hmm... interesting. Some sort of modding issue that Joel Burgess offered to help with created a startling revelation:

JoelBurgess (a Bethesda developer) said:
I did make a little progress with the silent speech problem - hopefully. If anybody wants to try it with the public version of the CS, please let me know if it works. From the CS:

gameplay>settings
find "fDialogSpeachDelay" (yes, it's a typo)
increase the value to something more agreeable. Mine is set to four.

which was followed a few posts later by:

IsItThough said:
I've just realised something - Joel has just inadvertantly proved that we do not have the same CS that was used to make the game. So all the devs who told us we did, were misleading us. Care to explain that one Mr Burgess?

I believe that would be grounds for a "pwnt", though I really don't like using it. "Zing!" definitely applies, however.

EDIT: Eh, after reading further, the point was glossed over and basically pooh-poohed away with an explanation of "our tools are constantly evolving".

That's sarcasm, right?
Something fanboys would say in defense of the (unsurprising) pool results. :)

Not from the ESF, but I thought this was funny.

EDIT: Out of pure curiosity, I decieded to search the net for more of this problem and found alot of people can't uninstall OB. The uninstaller crashes, forcing people to manually delete the folder and clean the registry by hand. I guess Todd thought the game was so good that no one would want to uninstall it.
