I quite like that picture, and the music goes well with it. Don't know why people are getting upset, it's very very good if you ask me. I know it's hard to please some fans, but if you take another look at it, and really feel your way into the environment, it all just comes alive right in front of your eyes, and you're back to the good old Fallout feeling.

Bethesda's highly ambitious project could be turned into something amazing, we just need everyone to be willing to help the devs make this as true to the original Fallout as possible, which is not at all unlikely, the devs working on FO3 are deeply talented, not to mention huge Fallout fans. The Fallout 3 Forums serve as a playground for ideas, and it's quite clear that there is much untapped creativity amongst our forum members, and we are always open to honest criticism

I am certainly getting excited, as are my fellow moderators of the Official Fallout 3 Forums, and as long as you act nice  , we can have some proper discussions about the game that is now referred to as "the single most anticipated game of the decade!".

I'm sure we all, deep down, appreciate the efforts and dedication put forth by Bethesda, and the current team of developers could not be more motivated than they are now, this is a very exciting time.

Rat Keeng,
Peace out.

That wasn't even funny, just kind of eerie and sickening.

That was supposed to be a joke wasn't it?

Speaking of the trailer, do you think we'll see "I was born just after the bombs fell" type of dead giveaways that they fucked up the setting? Or is everyone going to be too focused bitching about the FPS gameplay to really care.

Neither the art or the music even whisper Fallout to me, unlike the Van Buren video I watched a few days ago. I really don't understand why they spent so much money on Fallout IP.

I was planning to start a thread with a crazy idea/dream I had, but I never got around to it because I wanted to write quite a bit, and I'm a slow-ass writer. Anyway, the idea was simply that BS have the FO ip and assets which presumably includes the VB code and art. They could make Fallout: Retarded FPS Edition (with some more sensible spin off name) and make buckets of cash with the blessing of the fanbase because they've agreed to then contract the right FO dev people to continue and finish VB into a real FO3 for the fans. (and possibly new fans of FO:RFE too)

Everyone wins!

Too much medication, right?

From a company that can't even bring itself to decently support it's own modding community or release Daggerfall as freeware? Could I have some of whatever you are taking?

In my head.
If they don't have Ron Perlman saying "War, War never changes.." in the intro I'm not playing it.

The music is wrong. Just wrong. It's not 50's and it's not even a Mark Morgan ambiant track. It's Barbarians at the gate, ready your axe and prepare for an epic adventure!

Yeah, posted it on Bethesda's forums too. Good work, although the mushroom cloud is a bit out of place.

Yeah. I actually like Bethesda's artwork. The music is meh, but then again, I am not a huge Mark Morgan fan, though I liked his work on Torment. [But not on Fallout].

When I heard that music, in my mind's eye I saw a trailer for a blockbuster -

"THIS SUMMAH...

PREPARE YOURSELF.

FOR THE EPIC ADVENTURE OF A LEIFETIME."

With rapid cuts of ackshun interspersed in between

Who gives a shit about the music? When playing a game or watching a movie if you actually notice the music it's getting in the way.

I do. And so do lots of other people. Music can add a lot to the atmosphere in a game. The music was a big part of Fallout 1 and Fallout 2. It's not the most important element of a game, but since it's already a forgone conclusion that the gameplay of Fallout 1 and 2 won't be intact for 3, it would be nice if they at least got the style right.

Listening to this music and watching the concept art I get a pretty good impression of what they're planning...

There's a gigantic army of mutants/evil people who are going to take over teh Wastelands, and you have to venture south on a great quest to reach some fucking place and do some shit which will collapse their army. Some type of bastard spawn of Mad Max, Tolkien and Conan, all of you who mentioned those got it right.

KC is right too, the music has that excitable retard feel to it, a feel which has been reinforced by that ESF moderator's comment.

That landscape looks fucking boring as hell. Seriously it's depressing. Bethesda games and their beautiful 'art' many people rave about have always depressed me. Maybe it's because it's made by depressed and depressing people?

Unlikely that it's Beth's artwork anyways, looks more like Massive Black's (the art company they hired).

Massive could've contracted him to do a promotional image. They have connections.
