Nice to have a bright setting, poking around in Doom 3 darkness for glowing loot in Bioshock and Dead Space etc. can go to hell foreverrrrrr (end of video is a night scene, groan, why)

Splicer faggotry ruined bioshock, if they focused more on the city being cut off from the surface and everyone going bat shit through starvation it could have been quite the horror game.

On a more positive note, I'm glad they've dropped the "Silent Protagonist" bullshit.
Yes, that would be good if the writing wasn't so retarded.

Your daily snippet from captain obvious:

I doubt the final game will be this much scripted and on rails (...heh). Since we're so far from the release date and this is advertising I don't expect to see any of that sequence in the game. I think we'll have something close to the Bioshocks in terms of level size and freedom, and the moving on rails part will be an underdeveloped gimmick.
It looks like magic will work just like in Bioshock, I don't expect the improvements seen in the video to be implemented well (if at all). I also doubt that teamwork with "Elizabeth" (who looks as if she came straight out of the uncanny valley btw) will be developed outside a few scripted sequences.

tl;dr: more of the same

Unrelated: I'd really like a hybrid FPS/RPG set in the world of Raymond Chandler's novels.

I didn't write this one but here are some new screenshots...

Back on topic. I actually felt that Bioshock could have been really great if they'd just opened up the game a little bit more and kept it more RPGish like System Shock. I was really vexed by the lack of an inventory system. It really sucks that we had two system shock "spiritual sequel' kind of things in Bioshock and Dead Space but neither was really great. I enjoyed both but with the addition of a few more complex features and less linear design, I think they could have been great.

Nice anti-racist liberal bias. Always love when developers get political.

Yeah, the political posters look like they were put in to add a little controversy and make the game look artistic.

Wow, this looks like suck.

At least the visuals are pretty.

And it has an '86 Transformers reference, for better or for worse.

Still looks like suck, anyway. No way am I getting fooled by Biococks again.

Yeah I just finished watching it. Storyfag game with shit writing is fail. Assuming that's even real gameplay, that's probably the most scripted video game sequence I've ever seen.

Yeah, a ton of scripts all over that video - in fact I wonder if any of that has been gameplay at all, the player's actions seem to be too "correct".

Still, the setting looks fresh, which already elevates the game above MW2 and other shitty AAA shooters of today.

The pro: it look great. The scenery, the air-rail, the monster, even the abilities. look a bit british elizabethan era style which is just not been done enough.

The con: the intent and the excution is idiotic. A animal-driven cart that is moving on one wheel with the other grinding to the ground, reprensenting failure or whatever the fuck they mean to represent? It look idiotic as fuck. Very biowareanesque. The chick in wide neck halfbosom bared dress? She look sixty going on 20 (or is that 18), the bosom cant save the face. Bodies dropped like fly but not bloody enough and only when it suit the director.

Still, let's see how the game goes on before judging, even with a bioware product.

I watched up until the 5th minute but is this game about staring at stuff around you?
It should be obvious that they must have very little in a finished state, and the hype machine must roll somehow, so they show you really well what little they have.

In trailers they always show you the best things in games. So the best thing about Bioshock 3 is that it isn't even a game but a rollercoaster through outdated visuals?

I don't understand retarded comments about how it looks like an impressive game (a few here and 100% of them at GT) - you don't even play it, you just look at it while it plays itself?

As I said, I don't think they have much of the game ready yet so they try to hype you with what they think is a cool ride through a fantastic environment. Now, this is the Codex and we don't fall for this -- not even I do, though I'll likely buy the game in the end -- but as a marketing strategy to hype the masses I believe it works.

Again, I doubt any of this will be in the actual game, my best bet is that it will play identical to Bioshock: same size for the levels, same dumbed down guns & sorcery gameplay.

It's possible of course.
Except people were talking about the "gameplay" they saw in this very trailer and how impressive it is even though there wasn't one. Morons today just want a badly animated low-poly movie instead of a game.
