What I don't get about all those 11/10 reviews is that not one is articulating the actual amazing stuff that supposedly BS:I has in abudance... All I can see/hear is the blank statements of cult following not information. Back to MoTB.

- Mouse all fucked up, just like last Bioshock. How can they not get this shit right? Bottom sensitivity way too slow, one notch up way too high
Make sure you turn off mouse acceleration. It'll still be kinda twitchy but that MASSIVELY helps.

This game is literally a corridor with small rooms to the side from time to time.

Wasn't the whole point of it that it took gameplay onto a vertical plane and thus opened shit up?
Supposedly, but in the areas I've seen thus far it hasn't come into play much. And even the areas I've seen that are mid-late game (From video) it looks like there are a few "Arena" style spots with multiple floors with skylines to boogey around on, but an arena is all it is. Keep in mind this is just from a bit of video I've watched and around 2 hours played. IIRC Bioshock 1 didn't start having more open levels by this point either.

Played a few hours so far. Unlocked 1999 mode and have been playing on that. I'm mostly enjoying it but I do have to say that 1999 mode is shit. It's hitscan weapons VS hitscan weapons, with NPCs that have as much bullet sponge HP as the player or more. Your shield recharges so slowly that it's not terribly useful in combat so you have to lean heavily on plasmids to give yourself an edge. On top of that, each death costs you $100 which at this stage in the game is a hell of a lot of money. Money which you also wanna spend on the occasional upgrade. Level design IS more linear than Bioshock 1 so far (A line with a few little side rooms mainly. Whereas Bioshock had a fair number of levels that were relatively open. Your objective would only be in one place, but the level itself was vaguely circular) and enemy AI is pretty poor. Having a challenging time due to the HP bloat and relatively large (Sometimes 5ish? I guess?) number of enemies it throws at you at once.

10/10 game of forever!*

*Honestly I am enjoying it, but I'm also one of the only people on the Codex who liked Bioshock 1 (And 2) and I sure as shit wouldn't recommend it to anyone who didn't like those. It's certainly Bioshock, so I'm content.

Edit: Oh yeah. Gaem haev potato http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/864963324216093990/494A2FAE133545640046757EC08315914E98370C/
Cow.

Answer my earlier question. The skyhook motion, is it player controlled? As in can you JUMP and latch onto one and change direction speed etc?

Someone never learned to say please or ask courteously.

Anyway, will give the game a try. I enjoyed Bioshock up to a point but the plastic and static feeling of the world together with the crappy gunplay turned me off eventually.

Didn't play Bioplop 2 because the first game was terrible and incredibly boring once you got over the neat setting. Now all this "OMFG ITS AN EXPERIENCE NOT A GAME MY SOUL IS JIZZING" hogwash I keep reading from these throat shitting faggots who make it embarrassing to play video games has pissed me off. I suddenly loathe this game. Fuck every single one of you in this topic who bought this stupid game and want to discuss it, and will talk about it for 50 pages to come. You are the worst and I hope Prosper rapes your mothers, then animates it. In extreme detail.

You can:
  • Accelerate/Decelerate
  • Turn around
  • Jump onto others/further down yours (ie if you're coming down or up to a curve)
  • Also you can hit iron sights to autotarget enemies, which is poo but then again otherwise would be p. much impossible to target at the speeds you're going sometimes.
I think that was it?

Hatred, Anger, Freudian slip?; small fat man
It's still worth talking about a lot more than other games. Imo it's hyperbole to call it the best game ever made (I'm not finished yet, who knows ), but it's not bad either.
Annoying bits have already been mentioned, some more would be that Rage thing that games do nowadays where some textures don't load until you look at them, sometimes they bug out and just don't load. Only happens with select ones in this game, but when it's the airship that some dude is talking to me from and I'm looking at nothing else it is rather noticeable. Could just be graphics card issues.
Also, when I'm walking around somewhere with Elizabeth and I reload her AI shuts down and she just stands in one spot in whatever room I'm in.

I think the setting doesn't help hide the linearity? SS2 & BS, you really couldn't go anywhere except whatever corridor/level you were currently in because there was space/ocean outside the window. Here there's supposedly a whole city, and it's all in the air, but they must build their bushes out of graphene 'cause I just can't get off the street. You feel the restriction a lot more.

... it's fun though

One of the better articles I read (PCG UK 2013-02) on it is how the violence is jarring. One moment you arrive in a floating city and walk amongst its inhabitants, seeing how they mingle and live and the next you're drained in blood murdering them by the dozen. Even the dev commented how you're basically a psychotic mass murderer when it really boils down to it but that it's hard for them as devs to bring that to light. Although he did say they tried to.

So, now I'm curious to see if they did and what to make of the article and that comment.

So, does 1999 mode actually force players to concentrate on certain builds (like permanent decisions when picking skills/abilities/upgrades) ...or was Levine full of shit?

Stop ruining my mood to enjoy this game you losers. I must rely on this game until Eador: Masters of the Broken World comes out which is 4 weeks later.

It gives enemies more HP and damage, anf makes your health regeneration slower. For true ZOMFG HARDCOER GAEMARZ only.

You can move the slider with the mouse somewhere between first and 2nd notch. The level design is atrocious so far, it doesn't feel like a world at all, more like a set of props.

So what's the point of the jailbait chick in this game? Is she a walking quest compass or do you need to protect her?
She's there so you can stare at her bloody period rags.

What.

What?

You think I'm joking?

As a game it's complete and utter shit. As a movie, it's... mediocre.

Tribes? It shouldn't be on by default, let alone forced on anyone.
