Bought it, nobody probably knows if early access save files work for full release?

Popped into their discord server yesterday and saw someone confirm that they do. I decided to start it up last night, get a character created and go through the tutorial section. It's a little rough around the edges, but it's got that charm to it and you can feel the love they put into it. Overall excited to play further, but will probably wait until release day.

Turn off voice acting! Makes the dialogue feel much more natural without the cringey VO.

Does it have full VA?

No, but most of the lines in the first hour or so are voiced. It's easily the worst thing about the game so far.

EDIT: Can't reliably timestamp on mobile, but a good sample of VO at 6:30.

I mean, it's a non-issue for me, just turn the shit off and read. But you're really going to try to tell me that's not bad? There's even a misread word in one of the lord's dialogue.

:hmmm:

My Command Company skill keeps changing from Wolfpack to hit and run and when I try to change it there is a 50% chance that the game crashes :D

Also since this game seems to have day and night cycle it would be nice to have option to wait and not to run to the inn every time

I remember you can choose two or three dumbass dialogues before he decides to have you killed you for your impudence, after which you get the typical overleveled encounter and die. I didn't pick the second option but they should just play it straight and call you a retard for saying such inappropriate shit, it'd be less cringe than letting you get away with it.

14 hours so far think I have soon done everything in ea. some thoughts:

companions dont really talk or have any dialogue. First when u recruit someone you get few dialogue lines but nothing after it. 1 companion so far has quest ongoing
difficulty seems too easy with hard difficulty (second hardest)
every area has 100 containers and 85% of em are empty. 13% has like few pieces of gold and 1-2% has something useful. 50%+ of locked chests are empty and around 5-10% something useful. Would be nice if u could right click chests to unlock
when you rest you dont use healing spells even when you have plenty of unspend left
combat, moving and pathfinding is very akward. Pretty much anything you do is not smooth
game needs restarting every 1 hour or so. Otherwise everything is too laggy
Cannot see how long most spells / skills last from description
too much gold and reselling value of items is too high
inventory managment is shit. too many materials. There should be seperate tabs for weapons/materials and stuff but there is none
crafting is shit. need to manually place every crafting ingredient to each recipe every time which u need to check from journal
customization between "subclasses" is very marginal. the difference between fighter and templar for example is very small
spell selection is very limited. for example cleric spells: level1 3 options, level2 2 options, level3 4 options, level4 2 options

Also loading times are longer than with Elden Ring that I just played

Honestly, I"m re playing as a wintermage and loving it.

They improved magery a lot. Now spells scale with caster level and aren't like 5E where spells doesn't scale with you. I'm really curious if you can build a golem like the golems patrolling the capital at high level. IMO creating such large creature would be amazing but should require high level and ultra expensive components as in the game site they say :

"Can build Ice Golems from a certain (very high) level" for wintermages

And note that they use golems in plural. That would be interesting to have golems protecting your own state after you

Become a lord

I also liked the town design.

So far people compare this game with PoE but honestly, this game is much better than PoE.
Got the game too, but if it sucks you'll hear about it !

From what I have seen of YouTube videos and twitch streams of the full game compared to what I have played of ea companions have a lot more dialogue and banter with each other in conversations and there are more npcs you can talk to though I still think the writing is average at best.

if it sucks

I liked this game more than Solasta and BG3. But less than Kingmaker. Since you like 5E, IDK how much you will gonna like it.
Ruleset is not the most important part in a rpg, you start to worry me.

I think that it is very important. If Pathfinder Kingmaker where made in PF2e, it would be way worse. If was made in D&D 4e, would be unplayable.

You can do good storytelling and tactical combat with any of those rulesets , or any popular one ,any less known OSR , even 4E . Pathfinder kingmaker success is on its story telling and powertrip not at all related to the ruleset, this rtwp game stray far way from the original ruleset and has hardly anything in common with pathfinder.

This I strongly disagree.

Pick one of my favorite spells like Finger of Death. CR 10 creatures like a Giant flytrap can soak 3 finger of death spell, failing the save 3 times in PF2E. While in 1E, Finger of Death casted at lv 15 can OHK a Giant flytrap. Being a necromancer in this two editions is a completely different experience. Even Gothic 3, when they changed from rune magic to ancient magic, the experience of being a caster changed a lot. Changing the game mechanically have a lot of impact in the gameplay. Tomb of Horrors played in 5E is vastly different than Tomb of Horrors played in 4E which is vastly different than the original Tomb of Horrors. Which is insanely brutal.

Making an analogy with FPS games, GM6 Lynx in Arma 3 can OHK a soldier with the best body armor inside an armored vehicle at 1000m with no problem. In Dirty Bomb(Fel-ix), it can't pierce anything and you need multiple shots to kill someone. You can't say that the sniping experience is the same in both games despite both being using the same weapon in a shooter. Or with cars in a racing game. Driving the same car in NFS and in GT can be completely different experiences.

In this particular game, once they changed the spells to scale with your level, casting stooped being worthless except for summons and become way better. A single variable alteration changed the game experience. I know cuz I played when snowball only dealt 3~7 damage and played recently when it scales with your level.

TL;DR - Mechanics matters a lot.
