but the greed was too much.

wow yeah, fuck em for trying to make money on this game.
That's a noble motivation to have, don't get me wrong. As long as it doesn't end up costing them more than it brings in. They are now working extra on last gen compatibility, and also took a serious reputation blow, which is difficult to convert to a monetary cost yet, but it may have one.

After derping around in this game a bit (even at v 1.04 it's still pretty beta), I realized another difference between Bethesda and CDPR:

Bethesda developes their games for consoles and then halfassedly ports them to the pc. But since it runs well on consoles, not much butthurt happens.

CDPR developed a game for high end pcs, then downgraded and ported it to the pc. Because of that it runs shitty on consoles (we don't care about that here), but creates a yuge bag of problems when running on not-that-great machines...

On my toaster it has a 50% chance of crashing on startup, a 100% if I try to use a mirror. But, when it runs, it runs stable. :hahano:

Then there are some weird moments, that make you feel like sequence breaking. Merebitch Stout just text me out of the blue after hours of meeting her, my V said she wanted to see her tats and they meet in a shady hotel.
Wat? I barely exchanged words with her before. What tats does V know of? Why now? It feels like a "reward" for doing sidequests that were cut...

That said, I give them kudos for making Judy girls only. You meet her early, she is heavily featured in the trailers, but male V will get blueballed.
Gotta read those butthurt threads one day for all those sweet tears and rage. :hahano:

yeah, I bet Cyberpunk 2077 will bankrupt CD Projekt and they are not going to make any profit at all ;)

Didn't the game turn profitable on the first day of sales only?

It's obviously not going to bankrupt them. Sadly, if anything, it's going to make them millions and millions and millions in profit.

At least they have a bit of dignity for assuming what they have done. I hope they improve the AI a bit, especially on combat and stealh moments. But I guess it is the last of their priotities now.

Have you ever seen a game that had shit AI improved by patches?
Not that it's imposibble but I think every game that had shit AI remained that way.
Usually some patches claim to fix or improve AI but generally always, it's just marginal improvement if any at all.
Top of my head I just can't think of any that had significant improvements maybe thre are such wonders but they are rare loot for sure.
Not sure if that has anything to do with being hard to acomplish after game is released, or just too much work to be worth it. (especially instead of paid DLC or new MP game)

Itemization is mighty stupid tho. I tried to keep V's iconic pistol useful by upgrading, but the costs get ridiculous after a few levels. And there is no need to, better guns fall off the sky at every corner.
Found a tech pistol early that deals faaar too much damage, AND lets me see/shoot people through cover. Outclassing everything else. For 10 levels now.
What would Sawyer think about that?

Well, for once, a hyped to hell and back product has actually lived up to the hype. I don't remember the last time that has happened.

To be fair, no one in AAA seems to be doing PC-first development, and taking on two genereations of consoles at once is something even Rockstar didn't attempt with GTA V, correct me if wrong.

CP77 is kind of diverging from Pondsmith's description by presenting some nice guy cops at the very beginning of the game, found in V's condo building.
Cops are a Playable Role/Class in Cyberpunk 2020:

IMO the shares were just the usual segment of investors offloading for the profits on release day, maybe expecting a dip.

Naturally, codexer Gordon Geckoes saw that as CDPR being within hours of bankruptcy.
Yes, I'm sure the big release of the only game on their release schedule being such a catastrophe that they have to officially apologize, promise months of Patching to get them to a workable state and offer unconditional refunds on the platforms that were 70% of their Release Sales volume for their last Breakout Hit will have no Financial impact whatsoever.

The poor state and QA of the product and its systems will also obviously have no impact on what Shareholders were really looking forward to, the Monetized Multiplayer, and will not put a damper on the Outlook of its success.

Once again your logic is faultless and impeccable.

Any info on what the multiplayer will be like? Gunplay and driving is trash so I really wonder what will be the point of mp.

Yeah I can't see MP kicking off when most of the playerbase can't run the game stable. Still a GTAV like multiplayer with some extra features set in the Nightcity could've been very cool. Like actual faction wars or something.

That would be a good question for Shareholders to ask themselves and CDPR soon. Don't forget that while weak points in AI, Open World systems and Missions/Side Activities could be overlooked in a Single Player release that's "One and Done", they would also become much more important and critical to the potential success of a Multiplayer version. Would people that are "Playing it for the Story" want to play such a game, and for long enough to engage with the Microtransactions?

the game completly got fucked by marketing. why did they call it the next generation of open world adventure or some bullshit like that? it's like the marketing told you this game is going to be future gta sandbox, thd devs kept telling you it's an rpg while in reality it's a narrative focused shooter with rpg elements.

That is a bit depressing. I'm just in the beginning but I guess the itemization at least won't be quite as painful as in the Witcher 2/3. That unique, artifact sword the Lady of the Lake knighted you with in a heart-warming sequence? That junk? Its inferior to a sword you can find laying in the starting swamps, so just throw it in the bin.
At least for guns it makes more sense to be mass produced then for artifact-level swords.

I managed to (mostly) fix the sound by switching the headphones settings to stereo - but needed to do this not only in card settings, but also in system settings.
My GeForce 970 GTX is doing a decent job.

So I could finally start playing. Combat and hacking seem quite fun. Stopped by for a fixer contract that was higher level... well, needed to reload that one many times. Fun! Fire-fighting overlevelled opponents sure beats meleeing them... Atmosphere is great, as expected. The city is impressive! And I'm still locked in one district.

Seems way better then nuDeus Ex and the likes of Outer Worlds. I'm satisfied so far.

Well, except one aspect: driving is a real horror. I think even horseback riding in TW3 was less floaty... and it wasn't any good. Eh, I'm willing to suffer... or maybe someone will mod the controls for that.

Upgrading can get you only so far, unless you are spec-ed into tech and have an iconic weapon that can not only be upgraded but also uptiered.
