I see a lot of fluff about the expansion, but no date on patch 1.7. Is it meant to launch simultaneously with Phantom Liberty, or are we expecting it before?

Hopefully before, but I believe that if this patch tanks performance they will release it simultaneously with PL. You don't want people canceling their pre-orders because they are now unable to play the game they've had for the past 2.5 years.

Suspecting a performance hit on account of these new supposed random encounters and police chases? Otherwise, I'd imagine the reasons PL ain't coming out on last-gen consoles would be restricted to PL's playspace.

No. It's because they have updated the system requirements starting with patch 1.7. While the GPU requirements are pretty much the same, the CPU requirements are all over the place and way beyond reasonable.

what am i doing are you running in RT mode? Do you have DLSS enabled?

If the former, try testing with it off but with DLSS on. Also consider downloading the latest DLSS.dll version, which you copy into the main CP2077 game folder. You can usually find that listed on Nvidia forums, or TechPowerUp, etc.

Tried RT off and DLSS on Balanced, still freezing on menu transition. I also tried the latest nvngx_dlss.dll, but this made the game consistently freeze on the CDPR logo video.

Sum ting wong.

At this point, if you were *really* curious, I'd venture only a completely fresh installation of Windows would tackle that, and even then I wonder if there's something about that Threadripper/your mb's chipset + Windows 10 + CP2077 that may never be right.

Odd problem. If I think of anything else I'll let you know.

The OS is the other possibility. I'm on LTSC because I don't want to spend hours disabling various tablet cancer that MS pushes on its customers, and it's possible the version I'm on has fallen too far behind (there's some Adobe software that I've had to bug them for offline installers because of this). But I'm not gonna do a fucking OS reinstall for one single game because the developers wanted to add a feature 99% of us can't even use, so if it is the problem, I guess I just won't be playing it (or buying PL) until the next time I'm doing an OS reinstall naturally / next PC I build.

Or I may get another SSD and put on OpenSUSE or something, see if it works better there. I don't generally use Linux because most of the productivity software I use is Windows/Mac only, but my desktop is only for gaming these days, so there's no real harm in switching. I can't deal with the headache of non-LTSC windows anymore, just don't have the patience.

Oh, I'd overlooked that, thought it was just for PL. The game was already a bit CPU-intensive in my experience, so I can't say I'm chuffed with that.

So, gents, if this is going to be the "definitive" Cyberpunk 2077... does that mean the game's spent 11 years in development? Must be fun at highschool reunions:

"Wow, Bob, ain't seen you in like a decade, are you still with NASA?"
"Oh, no, put that satellite in orbit and then left for SpaceX to work on reusable rockets. Just recently moved to Blue Origin, actually. What about you?"
"Eh, you know, that Cyberpunk videogame."
"Ah, the sequel?"
"No."

I'm seeing a not-non-significant number of similar complaints on Steam, all of which are Nvidia + Ryzen.

This one, for example: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1091500/discussions/7/3814032755155788251/

There may be nothing you can do except wait for additional patches.
I'm guessing this is probably something CDPR has to patch. A few months ago, they released an update for Witcher 3 which made the game literally unplayable for AMD users on DX11. It took weeks for them to patch it. They also introduced dozens of new bugs in the next gen version. Their programmers must have been hired from various zoos around Poland, there's no other explanation.

When I tried Cyberpunk on Ryzen 5 3600 + RTX 4070 a month ago, it ran flawlessly on RT Ultra with DLSS3, at around 100 fps even in the city area. But you never know, one patch is all it takes for them to make the game unplayable.

Shot in the dark, but does this happen in any other modern game that taxes your system? If so maybe try running passmark or memtest86. It could be an issue with your motherboard not supplying enough power to your ram due to an intermittent short. I had the same issue years back and couldn't figure out what it was so I just replaced my motherboard and power supply and the problem went away.

Well I ordered a couple SSDs since I needed a bigger one for my laptop anyways so if it's a hardware problem I'll be able to confirm it in the near future.
Edit: but to more specifically answer your question no, this is the only game I've had issues with. But I don't play very many different games and other than Satisfactory, CP2077 is the only modern one I play.
