MCA is an artist. I would be very disappointed indeed if it turned out he doesn't have a drinking problem.

Surely there's more people who can discuss the Dragoncon incident. I mean a crowd of people had to see that, right?

Edit: Apparently this was something that may or may not have happened in 2013 and a cursory glance shows no one mentioning it at all. Sounds suspicious. Then again DragonCon is one big nerd orgy and I suppose there could be a "What happens there stays there" policy (which this guy is breaking :P).

He had the "Crowdfunding Video Games" panel, but showed up at the "Kickstarting Your Project" one, which happened at the same time:

It seems like it wasn't a big deal. MCA wasn't wasted and didn't 'steal the mic'. The moderator and the rest of the panel were friendly to MCA (and it seems one of them is a friend of his), and he was quiet for most of it. I don't doubt that DragonCon staff wasn't happy about it, but the guy on reddit painted a very different picture.

How stupid.
If an industry veteran accidentally shows up to the wrong panel you know what you do?
You give him the mic. Especially when he was going to speak at essentially an identical panel already and therefore was prepared for it.

I've seen bigger crowds being formed around to point and laugh at a kid who tripped during lunch break. The kid was me but that's not the point.

I always imagine people like MCA being surrounded by a large number of connoisseurs of the roleplaying medium whenever they put themselves in front of a mic. It may be that he wasn't as well known in the distant year of 2013, before having his career jumpstarted by working on amazing titles such as Pillars of Eternity™.

(Is this how you shitpost?)

MCA being a drinker isn't shocking, the drug usage is mildly surprising, but the real dig is that MCA just sits around at work drinking and getting high all day. Dunno, just doesn't seem the case at all? He also seemed fairly sober when he was here.

Imagine being Avellone and strolling into work drunk as skunk and tripping on Molly and still outwriting Fenstermaker 100:1.

Drugs should help with creativity, no? Or was it mushroom trips...

Judging from the stories about how Avellone worked on PS:T twenty-four hours a day and writes so much that Sawyer calls him a machine, I would rather assume that Master "da Man" Avellone does amphetamines.

Gents, MDMA stands for Methylenedioxymethamphetamine. It's a stimulant that can be pretty speedy, but unlike amphetamines it gets your creative juices flowing. In college I would use it to write papers I had no interest in. As long as you will yourself to stay focused, you can get a lot done. No idea whether MCA uses performance enhancers, but writing ten times more dialogue than you need for your companions is not inconsistent with rolling on molly.

Cocaine, rich man's drug? Maybe in the 1980s. It's very much available for everybody now. Rich people are probably juicing some custom mixes.

RPG Codex then: so what if Chris was shitfaced, screaming at the camera and being pulled away by Feargus. Great artists have a right to be wild party people

RPG Codex now: there's no evidence of Avellone drinking at work anywhere ever

Nick then: Chris man, you're like my best friend. I'll invite you into my wedding, if I ever find the right guy!

Nick now: Mr. Avellone is an alcoholic and a drug addict with a habit of harassing people, that is why we removed him from Obsidian.

Neither of those are mutually exclusive.

Badmouthing him on Reddit and being his best friend kind of are though. Or else he has some really shitty friends.
