Whoever said that wasn't lying. I've got the rune and tried it out on undead paladins, fire lizards, skeleton mages, undead shadowbeasts, dragon snappers and other things, it easily destroys everything. I think I'll do a clean up around Vardhal once I get the water mage jewelry set.

I think it's just a case of picking the right dialogue options after you fight Cortez in the arena. Everyone immediately surrendered in my case.

I've tried but i guess your decisions in Ch3 matter too, because i just counldn't make them surrender.

Only if you dont kill him before that you can also take Big ben if you spare his life. Btw the beast of Silbach side quest in chapter 4 has a hidden ending where you learn the truth behind it all. I didnt dig hard enough and got bad ending for it.

The worst quest so far is the one where you talk with some ghost in a tower that wants you to find 4 confession letters. Loved how i decided to check the how it works and got to the place where a letter should be,but it was not there,then i read the previous one and when i clicked rmb the new one got spawned before me eyes. Every quest objective spawns once you had taken the quest or triggered certain trigger. Also that phantom quest is not worth it,you run all around the world on a fetch quest and end up with 2k exp and some shitty scrolls,just sad fetch quest.

This is a great example, actually. Doing it literally any other way would just mean the quest items get found and lost/thrown away 60 hours before anybody starts that quest in 99% of cases. The way they did it is just straightforwardly smarter from a game design perspective. Simulationist design is fucking retarded.

Also, that quest is a reference to the gothic 1 quest "Chromanin" that worked exactly the same way.

Lol people who throw away named unique items are idiots, it's a Gothic game, items have zero weight.

Having to restart Morrowind when I first played it almost 20 years ago because I stole an expensive book and sold it to some merchant in the middle of nowhere, only to find out 5 main quests later that I need this book, is one of my favorite gaming memories.

It also caused me to become an obsessive-compulsive hoarder

If you find a goddamn confession letter and think "Eeeh I'll toss this" instead of "Interesting, I'll keep it in case it comes in useful later!" you don't deserve to finish the quest.

Same, I got a negative slide for that quest at the end. Another reason I'm itching to replay.

Im gonna replay this for sure in a couple of months joining the mercenary guild and using mage build. I also fucked up the vineyard quest and got bad ending for that, never found Kurt and destroyed the pirate base so I have many different choices to make there are is also fair amount of faction exclusive quests so this warrants a replay. Gonna wait though this game is like 2 times bigger than Gothic 2 and I still have other games to finish.

You can ask Fane to come with you but once he gets there Riordian mistakes him for a hostile and ends him.

Essences are the weakest, extracts are of medium strength, elixirs are second best and pure potions are the best.

Talk with a paladin who walks near main temple of Innos in the city.

Nah, there's a followup quest in ch5 that resolves it, sort of.

Chapter 3, talk to the paladin who already complained about the sale of Innos statues in chapter 2. He will give you a quest to investigate the traders in chapter 3.

What I really, really like about this game is how much new stuff there is, not even in each chapter, sometimes just a couple of days later you get a follow-up quest resulting from a previous one. Or some new NPC spawned in town who gives you a tiny unmarked quest: a fish seller selling you rotten fish, later a woman approaches you and tells you she also got scammed by the same guy. A game master who wants you to play a shell game with you but then just takes your gold and runs away, calling you a loser. A woman who says her husband hates her cooking and wants you to try her soup to get a second opinion, and when you eat it you have to puke... she concludes her cooking really is that bad and gives you the soup's recipe because you probably have more use for it than her.

There's so many little details that make the world feel alive. Absolute top notch.

What is there to dig,everyone says that it is ork shit,but nobody gives you an option to progress the quest,nor any direction for a possible exploration. I presume that it is the alchemist fag that is making the monsters by dumping toxic waste or something.

That is pretty neat,but the problem is that some quest are too hard to find without any hint of having a continuation or something. Like doing the slum band quest for the archer guard captain,joining hi unit and then nothing happening to progress it. A lot of shit is just too vague and scripted.
