One thing I never paid a great deal of attention to (as I always had a million of them in the inventory), but do pickaxes break out in the wild? I know they do in the gold mine.

No, but there's a longstanding gothic bug where any item with a custom animation might disappear when you go to put it back in your pack afterward, so they (along with fishing rods, blacksmith's hammers, etc.) vanish sometimes.

I'm sure I had the reverse happen once or twice. Pretty sure I had a couple of perma potions that didn't disappear after being used.

In archolos even more than in the originals everyone tries to jew you out of gold and since gold is much harder to get than in vannila.

Scammers everywhere, filthy streets that nobody cleans, southerners plotting, hobos harassing non stop, whores are unfuckable, sickos and serial killers are roming the streets and countryside, refugee policy like in Sweden, they even have their own local Soros with personal army of goons. No wonder protagonist says he is disappointed with Archolos and wants to leave.

I lost a pickaxe in NOTR digging up Greg's treasure when I replayed in January. I don't remember the issue happening when I used to play on older OS/Hardware. Wouldn't surprise me if it's something that happens more frequently when playing at framerates over 60 and was just a super rare bug in the original. Wouldn't be the first old engine to have issues with higher refresh rates.

My point partially was though that they have purposefully added a pick breaking mechanic in Archolos, but I think it only applies to the gold mine, not the outside world.

You see the notification when they break in Araxos mine. I doubt they made a mechanic when a stack of 5-10 pickaxes can break simultaneously without you knowing. Cuz that would be fucking retarded. Someone said it's an old engine bug related to animation, but i don't recall it ever happening to me in gothic 2.

I found a trapped vault room full of riches, but the door is scripted to shut and you die if you don't get out of there in time. Any of you managed to loot anything and escape?

I noticed that it happens for me when I immediately click forward when Marvin is still in the animation of stopping his mining, and then he goes back to mining the depleted object.

Better to wait before walking forward so it doesn't happen.

I managed to loot one of the chests before the door closed, it had a bunch of gold and valuables and a stoneskin perma potion.

It's a scam. You get a chance to buy a house when you get access to old town in a later chapter.

You get to run the scam in that instance, disrupting the auction so that you get it at a massive discount.

I was more moved by this than the entire "muh bro" storyline. I just like doggies.
Can't say i enjoyed the plot to be honest. Side quests were good, but main story was meh. Then again the plot wasn't that important for me. It's the feeling of playing a proper Gothic game (for the most part) that was.

I've heard that you can put one of them in a chest, equip the one you have in your inventory and then take the other one out of the chest and equip it.

Put one of the rings in any chest or other container that you can find.

No,it is a mod bug,good example is the boxer rings,they are stacked but if you equip them you can't equip the second one because it is part of the stack. Same with pickaxes,you lose a whole stack of them. The old games destacked items when equipped,but the mod won't.
