Steam page for the expansion:

At first I was like:
What the fuck that is the price of a full game
Then I checked the price of the base game and I was like:

CivV was a pile of abhorrant filth. CivVI was a dumbed down piece of abhorrant filth. CivVI DLC will be a piece of abhorrant filth mixed with pus
They are going a step forward in casualizing the game.
They are rewarding you for playing horribly by giving you better golden ages.
Brilliant.

Complaining about the AI in a civ game. How... quaint.

In a sense you're right but when you compare the AI in Civ4 to the AI in the later games it's pretty clear that they had no idea what they were doing. Civ4 is mostly smashing doomstacks against each other but at least you were able to do some real diplomacy with the AI. In nu-Civ there is no such thing as diplomacy.

looks like firaxis still doesn't get why their games are shitty if they think adding more superficial systems and stupid quests/missions is going to help.

You, Sir, are a fucking idiot. Show me one TBS 4x with current chess program AI. Yet despite that fact, Civ4 AI was adequate, while 1upts and stuff broke everything it could do. They didn't even bother to try to program a competent AI. Besides maybe MAX and AOW3 I dont even know any really good tbs AIs routines.

What I am saying is: the bar wasn't high but those fucking hacks couldn't even jump that one. MoneyMoney...

Warlock had decent tactical AI with UPT, but it was moronic when it came to casting spells as it almost never debuffed/buffed units.

There’s never been a thread about a Civ game anywhere at any time without complaints about the AI
Not even close to major bitching points in civ series.
Civ3 Most of the complaints boil down to the corruption mechanic and stacks of doom.
civ 4:Global warming bullshit, random events like the Bermuda triangle, slavery being too good, religion influencing way too much in diplomacy and some people bitch about zones of control, stacks of doom.
Civ v: Shit ai,mechanics designed to fill buckets(like culture),1upt,low production,no balance whatsoever when it comes to units ,civs and leaders(artillery, tradition, etc),carpet of doom,etc..
But the major focus is the stupid ai when it comes to diplomacy and tactics.
Civ vi: Shit ai,no way to properly remove districts, religion units swarming you,no balance again(any dlc civ will destroy the vanilla ones),diplomatic options that the ai can't use,war weariness bullshit.
But the primary complaint is the ai,again.

Older civs mostly get the the hate for stacks of doom from the new players, while the new civs get the hate because the ai is useless.

Edit:Also forgot to mention the godawful ui in 5-6.It takes multiple clicks or scrolling to get anything done.

CivIV: Click on your town, shift-click any queue. Ctrl-click to place new buildings\units to the top of your queue.
CivV: Click on your town, click queue bar, select all what you need to build, close queue bar, close town bar. Want to rearrange something? Repeat all steps.

Korean Gamers Outraged Over Western Feminist Revisions To Their History

Living in America where our entertainment is increasingly pandering to the tastes of self-proclaimed Social Justice Warriors, it’s sometimes easy to forget there are large parts of the world still resistant to such influences. This can cause issues however, when our forced diversity entertainment is exported around the world. Take for example the growing outrage in Korea, where gamers are not happy about how their culture is being represented in the latest game of the popular Civilization series.

The above post comes from YouTube. Where the comment section on a new video for the next expansion to popular strategy game Civilization 6, has been taken over by angered Koreans expressing their displeasure. This outrage stemming from the Western developers choice to have the nation be represented in game, by the historical Queen Seondeok. A ruler with a far from positive reputation among Koreans.

Traditionally in the Civilization series, nations are represented by a single leader that normally is the best or at least most famous in that country’s history. In the latest game in the series however, greater emphasis has been put on adding “diversity” to the roster of leaders. Its own developers stating, “We strive to have a diverse and varied selection of leaders, and it is also very important to us to include female leaders.” While adding more female leaders is perfectly fine, in the legitimate cases where a reasonable candidate exists. The reason so many Korean gamers are up in arms, is that they firmly believe anyone with even a basic knowledge of their history would understand that Queen Seondeok doesn’t fit that bill.

A totally separate issue is simply how the Queen is being physically portrayed by the American developer. With many people suggesting she simply doesn’t even look ethnically Korean. See for yourself here below. On the left is an image of the Queen as she is portrayed in modern Korean made media, the right is the version the Western game developer came up with.

Some of the best comments are actually in Korean of course. With this one asking in reference to the odd character design choice “Is this Queen from Africa?”

Others though cut right to the point, such as this comment which translates to, “We do not need your rubbish west social justice.” A sentiment I am sure oddly enough many of us reading here in the West would also agree with.

It doesn't matter how players they lost since the game is currently the second most played strategy game on steam.
The first is civ v.
They accomplished the same thing the aaa companies did to the other genres.
Replace fans as consumers with idiots.
Next step will be replacing idiots with retarded people, giving them even more sales.

Also i am surprised how the game doesn't look different form vanilla minus some menus.
Governors are just spies you use on your on cities, while the ages thing seems to be more like a menu thing then actual big influence.

I mean civ v gods and kings brought a new religion mechanic and plenty of new units stuff to unlock. This just looks too vanilla.

Fuck firaxis and its virtue signaling bullshit.
Her crowning achievement is running away during nazi occupation and encouraging people from a safe place.

That makes no sense. To add insult to injury she's depicted as a caricature. I expect she'd have preferred a likeness of this:

Why not pick actual notable female rulers, more closely representing the archetype of the Civ? Where are Boudicca, Margaret the First, Zenobia? Wilhelmina almost rivals Gorgo as a poor choice of ruler.
