Art is generally going to have left wing associations because on one level or another it represents a wish for a different reality than the everyday status quo we inhabit. This applies from paintings to video games.

This can also be a kind of heavenly realm (as in religious art) or some vanished past (if the art has conservative/traditionalist/reactionary influences), but both these alternatives have limited commercial appeal, especially in cultures where entertainment has a youth orientation (almost all of them).

Nobody wants things to be different from what they actually are quite like left-wing people.

I didn't like it either, but one gay pirate in the entire game is quite different from having the stuff pushed in your face at every turn, starting with character creation. If we could go back to 2003 level of gayness, it would be fine.
