The city guard asking if you're drunk when you were running around with your boobs out was pretty funny.

Another missed thing in Iron tower games was the lack of special gender interactions for female. U had nonsensical situations in AoD were you could impersonate men as a female. There was no consideration given to different dialogue or options to different sex.
AoD was just ahead of its time and already removed any sex differentiations
I can't remember a lot of differences between sexes in AoD, but female gets it easier with some of the charisma checks in Teron and can't use impersonation in some of the quests.

Always wanted to do a CON build, pimped with implants up to the gills. Easier to go with party to compensate for lack of offensive power

All seven implants, all overclocked and fully upgraded. Also the party came out really nicely for exploration, got all 10 in Bio, Comps, Electro and for the fucking first time got 10 Lockpick, although on Faythe

Since I am not running with 12 DEX, my choice was between shotguns and pistols. Shotties are better, but I already did three runs with them, so pistols. Handcannon is good

For a change I specced the party for full defense and tanking too, plus everyone got as much implants as they could. They still couldn't grow enough armor skill so they walk around with shitty plastic helmets until the end

100% thermal on all characters, smoke is our friend

Stuck to Protectorate all the way, was almost filtered by last wave in the Courtyard until I remembered that I have 7 stasis grenades waiting for use

Very good fight, all three waves have very high skills, gear and almost maxxed resistances

The quest that introduced the player to the concept of implants establishes that scavengers, if unable to extract implant, may just chop the body part and bring it to someone capable of doing it. Which seems like a convenient game mechanic, but it is not used further in the game at all. It would be very convenient to chop and pick unextracted implant or upgrade (especially since we have no inventory limitations) instead of backtracking to known corpses once you have enough biotech skill

Cult leader build that is not useless in combat. The concept didn't really held up well, it turned out just slightly less useless than pure non-combat CL MC. This also justifies my perception that rifles are the worst choice for characters with low DEX, we're looking at one-two shots per turn

Skipped quite a lot of fights and still got 100 combat reputation. Also picked up non Pit party members since I barely used them before

Harbinger is almost equivalent to Evans combat wise. While she has more useful perks, upping her loyalty high enough without cult leader seems to be unlikely while getting Evans to max loyalty is fairly easy.

Mathias then is the absolute terminator. Extremely tanky, great accuracy, and his loyalty bonus just gives entire party +10% to all resistances.

Faythe easily levels up into a very capable combat follower, and with quite a variety of choices.

For Evans, sniper seems like the obvious and the most effective choice, he could easily headshot people from across the entire map almost as good as Delta 9, the only drawback being his low crit chance. I don't think speccing him for assault rifle would be as good, too low STR and CON. Jed remains mostly useless. But for Faythe you can pick any ranged or melee weapon and it would work fine. Low STR? High crit chance. Low CON? Decent evasion

Notice 85% neural res, without any drugs. This is almost as good as cyborgs have

The bonus of cult leader, no one will bail for the wave fight. I have the entire crowd over here. Jed takes the nap, which is exactly the best job for him

10th run over and I think it is enough for now

Again rolled cult leader, no investment into offensive skills, I find it rather fun to play - you get very combat capable party, maxxed non-combat skills and high chances of passing the majority of speechchecks. This time even Jed turned out fairly useful, I specced him for SMGs and he started to turn decent damage output, but Knurl is still a better choice due to higher crit chance, especially as SMGs suffer against armored targets

In particular, wanted to see the wave battle for brotherhood side and also manage to convince the Pit to side with the chosen faction

On the previous run I got Mercy to rule Pit and sided with the Church which promised easy convincing her to go along. But nope, I sent that bitch from Shuttle Bay to the Pit and she provided -2 disposition, which was exactly how much I didn't get to pass the check.

This time I got two speech skills tagged, purposefully kept ask questions later low to avoid disposition penalty, but of course various modifiers brought the initial disposition to 0, as both Falkner and Nico added to it. Then it turns out that if you have high reputation with your faction you can call off attack and spare the place. Nice

But I find it rather discouraging that ending slides for all three factions are essentially the same, only the names change. The only difference is siding with cyborgs

Gameplay wise the changes are similarly minimal, you get different faction champions and different maintenance deck fights (the church's one is the easiest and the protectorate's is the hardest) and that's basically all. Even Sheffield mission is available for all three factions

And this just reinforces my opinion that factions are the weakest point in the game's narrative. They are too state like, they have their own leadership, insignia, armed forces even. It seems very unlikely that such structures will appear so quickly and is such solid form on a colony ship, and this is not even talking about their cartoonish ideologies which are massive let down from factions in AoD

Even the conflict between them seems not natural. The original mission authority was Christian, thus the church and protectorate shouldn't be in conflict. Cyborgs are Christian too, so there shouldn't be a conflict between them and the church. And cyborgs are a direct remnant of old mission authority, so protectorate shouldn't be against them at all

Really, the conflict should have been kept to "former mutineers" vs "former mission authority", with cyborgs being a impartial third choice. This not only would improve the narrative, but also allow to flesh out the choices more with more content. So far, the factions are just a color dressing

This doesn't matter much if you play it mostly for combat - as I do, but this only makes the game closer in spirit to Dungeon Rats and further from AoD

Debate what? Vince has an unvarnished and terse style, sometimes answers two paragraph question with 'No.' and some people take this to mean he's being dismissive. To my mind he just leans on the side of laconic.
I'm just saying that his style here, compared to his response on Reddit, seems much colder. If he's a laconic person or someone of few words, that's perfectly fine—he's absolutely free to be that way, and no one is blaming him for it. I just pointed out, as someone who doesn't know him, that this different attitude between here and there seemed a bit jarring to me.
Don't blame him man, he needs to "speak reddit" to sell his wares.

He probably washes his hands and goes off to call someone on the Codex a fag to wash off the taint of Reddit.

That's funny because I actually had the idea Ironstudios should do a visual novel type "game" since the writing is always the strong point in these things anyway. Not being constrained by 3d graphics designers, animations, level design etc etc would probably let them do more with less. They seem to really like combat but surely they could just do some final fantasy text based system.

Honestly, with how binary their systems usually are, they could just get you to put numbers beside categories and then in the CYOA, you'd have like:

"You approach the console and tap at it."
-> Computers > 5: "You successfully override the door and rush in to the next room, guards giving chase!"
-> Computers < 5: "You hit as many buttons and keys as possible and a klaxon begins to blare! This is your last memory as you are vaporized by the laser grid you set off. The guard walks up, spitting at your charbroiled corpse, 'What a fucking loser.'"

I just have to post to this thread after return.
  1. CS is the best CRPG since Arcanum
  2. Stoked that Vince and the Iron Tower bros have a plan
  3. I failed my mission to contribute much to Russian translation cause life happened :negative: but it's in good hands
