there's also the matter of it possibly being an illegally modified UE3.

You'd think somebody would have broken the news by now if this was true. Seriously, send Epic an email, see what happens. Maybe it'll be a CODEX SCOOP. :smug:

I'm waiting for them to release the redkit. When it's out and someone knowledgeable says "Yeah this isn't UE3 because x" then there's no need to create drama.

There's a new interview with Kanik which doesn't say much. Just some random bits about how they want to design night city. Also he seemed pretty adamant about denying that the either of the characters from the teaser are possible PC. Link stolen from infinitron obviously.

Was RPS just politely told to shove their agenda pushing where sun don't shine?

RPS: Even then, though, there’s still an issue of disempowering someone who seems like a lead female character. Will Cyberpunk be more even-handed in terms of the way it treats gender overall, though? I mean, it looked like she joined the Psycho Squad at the end of the trailer, which puts her in a pretty important place.

Mateusz Kanik: Even handed? Do you mean that we should do something to someone, who seems (and I stress the word seems) the lead male character? Look, nothing has been confirmed about the character you will play. We really want to tell a story of someone from the street, raised in the gutter, who will than stand up against the system he (or she) lives in. And that’s all you know. If you follow news about the game, you will also know that we want to put a lot of work into character customization. So how you treat your avatar in the game is completely up to you.

If it was a modified UE3 wouldn't people be able to notice that based on the file structure and types used? I mean surely somebody would try to access the game files using UE3 tools or notice that they're oddly similar or something.

Why are you inclined to believe that it is a modified UE3 anyway Roguey?

The sex cutscenes are juvenile and awkwardly directed, and the score-a-chick cards... just pathetic. Firstly, I'm offended by their presence in medieval fantasy world, because they don't belong there. Sure, historic cultures (Greeks, Romans, medieval Japanese or Europeans etc) had lots of their low-brow erotica and porn, but it was all real deal. In Twitcher, we have this specific medieval Slavic-inspired fantasy setting, all this lore that was created by Sapkowski. And all of a sudden, playboy playmates dressed in fantasy/medieval costumes appear to break the spell. Some folks here may think otherwise, but IMO, the proper place for playmates and their silicon implants (cyberpunkish or not) is in Playboy. NOT in rpg game.
Basing on what you write I assume you haven't read Sapkowski's trilogy yet, have you?

funny thing is, people actually had sex in medieval times, heck even had nudy pics (paintings) like everywhere.

I played the original Deus Ex and enjoyed it a lot. Warren Spector is a master at layering complex plots and inferences. But Deus Ex always felt more like a conspiracy game than a cyberpunk game to me. Mirror’s Edge is great, but too clean. System Shock and Oni [from Bungie] are also good.
Mike is a true bro :salute:

“As for shooting down [ideas proposed by CD Projekt]: yeah, in the beginning, there were a few ideas that came out of left field, but we all got zeroed in pretty fast on what we all wanted, and it’s been pretty solid ever since.”
I see the updates when they get posted and I talk to the whole team at least once a week in long Skype meetings where we cover mechanics, concepts, plots, dumb ideas – you name it.”
There's a slight hope he'll direct those potatobrains in the right direction *fingers crossed*

The Witcher 2 looks way better than any UE3 game I've seen, so even if it is just "modified" they did a good job with their mods.

Shit don't you know the codex is 90% graphics whores? It is not a thread on games lest Crispy mentions his dual sli pimped out rig with neon lighting.

Yeah, this isn't UE3 because you're fucking retarded if you think you can just get UE3's source code for free from the internet.

Jesus, they got a heavy handed judge didn't they? Couldn't he have just said x amount of each sale goes to Epic from now on instead of the scorched earth policy of having to buy back all unsold game stock and destroy it? Then again maybe the judge played those games and was trying to spare the public from the assault.

5 years from now, NIB Too Human for xbox 360 for $120 on ebay.

So are you ACTUALLY retarded? SK had licensed UE3. The whole thing started after they sued Epic because they supposedly refused to provide them with support for their game.

And what makes you think CD Projekt hasn't also licensed UE3 to try it out? They don't have to announce these things.

Because you don't license things to "try them out", because it costs a lot of money. Because you don't need to license UE3 to see what it can do, and you can ask them about things that you can't see.
Because it would be the epitome of stupidity to license an engine, steal the source code and not bother changing folder names in the process.
Also it would be pretty fucking suspicious if they licensed an engine and never made anything with it.

Also there are people out there that have the beta of the editor already.
