In the golden days this used to happen with first person shooters, not with CRPGs....
Morrowind (new at the time fancy shaders)
Input lattency is higher and the screen resolution is limited to 1080p.
Bad for FPSes and Cyberpunk 2077 is one. Not a great way to play it, especially when 95% of the world does NOT have good internet with high bandwidth.

Fine, I'll give CDPR the benefit of the doubt. Just know that Cyberpunk better be the gaming generation swan song to end gaming generation swan songs, not have a single major bug or glitch, perform exceptionally and be balanced immaculately. Maybe they'll finally learn not to announce a release date and renege on it twice, because it's starting to become apparent to even the average gamer that the studio's management is FUBAR and are souring on their reputation as the pro-consumer AAA devs.

(1)Bad for FPSes and Cyberpunk 2077 is one. (2)Not a great way to play it, especially when 95% of the world does NOT have good internet with high bandwidth.
1) You will spent less then 10% of your game in combat and even then the input latency should make it viscous and not break it. Naturally this is nothing for competitive gameplay. But then again people play Fortnite on it in competitive mode (ping seems to be very low).

2) Therefore i have written: "If you have a weak graphics card or even a weak PC, but a good bandwidth". And you can play it while taking a dump, but then again you don't need the RTX in this moment and you can use it with a cost free account (play for a hour at a time). If you are using it just for this on your phone or tablet.

So i recommend that people inform them self from different sources than just listen to us. And they should even try the free account out, before they jump into conclusions.

Cyberpunk 2077’s delay will also push back multiplayer and DLC expansions
POST-RELEASE CONTENT WILL BE “PROPORTIONATELY” DELAYED

Cyberpunk 2077’s latest two-month delay will also push back the release of its post-release DLC expansions and multiplayer mode.

That’s according to CD Projekt Red’s VP of business development Michał Nowakowski, who told investors in a conference call on Thursday that Cyberpunk 2077’s post-release content would likely be “proportionately” delayed.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed to November 19. It marks a second delay for the game this year, after it slipped from its originally targeted April release to September.

“We haven’t specifically mentioned the number of DLCs – we prefer to call them expansions as they’re bigger than typical DLCs – but of course the fact that the launch of CP77 has been moved will proportionately move the release of such potential expansions,” Nowakowski said in Thursday’s call.

“We haven’t made any specific announcement on when that’s planned, but since these are actually being developed, these are not any pieces we keep in the drawer, so to speak. They will first have to be made.

“When it comes to multiplayer, similarly to the expansions, its launch is going to be proportionately delayed as well, although multiplayer is a bit more distant – so it’s a matter for the future anyway”

The Polish company has previously said that the Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer game wasn’t likely to arrive before 2022.

CD Projekt has previously suggested that Cyberpunk 2077’s DLC and story expansions would be announced before the game’s release, as it did with The Witcher 3.

It’s also confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will have “no less DLC than The Witcher 3 had,” suggests the sci-fi title will receive content equivalent to or bigger than two full story expansions and 16 DLC packs.

Nowakowski reiterated in Thursday’s investor call that it wouldn’t be long before it officially detailed its post-release content plans.

“In terms of the number of expansions planned after CP, I would not assume anything until we’ve actually announced that number – you will have to be a bit more patient; that piece of news is going to come at some point, probably not too far from now, but this is part of our marketing campaign to reveal it at some point,” he said.

CD Projekt president Adam Kiciński added: “The delay doesn’t change any plans regarding further content – maybe dates, but not the number of planned expansions. And saying ‘expect not less’ is a codeword for ‘you might expect a bit more’.”

In the same call, the developer said it intends to release the “proper, full-blown next-gen version” of Cyberpunk 2077 in 2021 – and it will be free for both Xbox One and PS4 owners of the game.

CD Projekt Red’s Night City Wire stream will take place on June 25 and provide a new look at the much-anticipated open-world game.

FWIW Morrowind has only one shader, the water, which was added very late into the game's development (and IMO it doesn't fit the game's style and lighting at all so i always disable it). The rest of the game uses the fixed function pipeline.

Well I could say "Oblivion" instead but that was not a CRPG...

If only the delay means the game will be less buggy and better optimised at launch.

but we all know that wont' be the case. Just look at W3, a game was also delayed twice, but still buggy as hell and poorly optimised. They even overhaul the UI in a later patch.

Didn't read the thread, has anyone mentioned the theory the latest delay could be due to the BLM protest and given the hueg amount of dindus in the game maybe they felt they need to revamp a few things that could be interpreted as insensitive in the new climate?

Witcher 3 was nowhere near buggy as hell. If it was, user reviews would reflect it. I myself played at launch and in some 200 hours playtime experienced just a couple insignificant glitches. That does not mean there were not bugs I didn't see of course. But vast majority of people had experience same as me.

That is still beside the point though. Because even if you think it was "buggy as hell", if they shipped in february, or in fall 2014, it would be even "buggier as hell". Logically.

That sounds like a conspiracy theory with no basis in reality, but given the clown world we live in, nothing would surprise me.

There's no evidence for it but it's very firmly based in our reality.

I find it more likely that their management is shit at managing and the crunch wasn't enough to make up for it, so they need the extra time.

You can't keep your employees crunching as good as before if they are at home office from Covid-19.

Yeah, I'd think a delay would be due to Covid-19. Don't know if they still are because I haven't heard anything about it, but they announced back on March 16th that they were having people work from home. I'm sure that slowed down progress quite a bit.

It's totally possible they realize that the water is to hot right now given the initial backlash they recieved over groups like "The animals" and are simply killing two birds with one stone by waiting for things to calm down and release next gen.

But I suspect the truth is that the game either failed certification (again if the rumours are true) or is in such a for techical state that the only real option is to release next gen, and give anyone who pre ordered the game the next gen version for free.

Yeah, the consoles should be coming out in November too, maybe they want to coordinate, releasing the game as a launch title...

Eh, I don't really give a fuck tbh. I will play the game but I'm not really hyped for it.

I keep on forgetting it, since the discussion about the delay of CP77 and Avellone has occupied me.
You can look at what Krzysiek Burzynski (works for CDPR on CP77) has done with shitty (mostly free) assets:

Looking at this video now, it kinda looks last gen. Lots of years passed since they started work, no escape from that.

Just cancel the game altogether.
CDPR are commited to this corporate-wide financial and reputational mass suicide, there's no way and no need to cancel this game.
