TSR is suing Wizard of the Cucks for putting woke disclaimers on products they have made like Oriental Adventures. Apparently since Wizards has done that a lot of the old TSR creatives can't get work because Wizards has made everyone in the industry believe that the old TSR creatives are racist. I hope TSR wins just so we can see the surprise Pikachu face on Wizards face when they realize that they can't call everyone a racist and not suffer the consequences.

Would love to see that too, but Hasbro has a fuckton of money so I think they're just gonna settle this one and TSR will probably accept.

Having to pay is a consequence. Besides, a big bag of money soothes all wounds.

It'd be better if they took out the stupid warnings about how old D&D isn't "diverse" or "inclusive" enough. I, too, am being insulted, not just the creators.

Did you guys know that Curse of Strahd 5e module has evil gypsies in it? Then some people raised a huge issue about how problematic the module is, WotC agreed and changed the module?

...by removing all references to them being drunks. Everything else is still the same, and they're still evil.

But Gypsies are evil.

D&D 5e gets more soyified by the day. The errata removed references to mindflayers/beholders/gnolls/orcs/giants/kobolds/yuan-ti being evil. I guess it's problematic that tentacle faced brain eating slavers who reproduce by metaphorical rape are "evil." They're just misunderstood! Intelligent creatures can't be evil! https://old.reddit.com/r/dndnext/comments/rg4jut/writeup_of_all_the_lore_thats_beein_removed_from/
Great Globohomo's tenticles have come rehabilitate the Monster Manual.
They're gonna replace men with monsters...

Can I play a lawful good Tanar'ri now?
You can play a lawful good tiefling with a Tanar'ri grandmother, but pure fiends are still not playable.

Anyway, Fall-From-Grace proved that not even fiends are 100% locked to their inherent alignments, so if you think that having a Lawful Good demon in your campaign will make for a good story, then go ahead!

Wait, did they actually remove Lolth worship from the Drow? That's what I heard.
7 months ago they added some drow cities that are morally good and don't worship Lolth. So no, they just made multiple drow cultures (although the morally good cultures they added live above ground.) Apparently they retconned a bunch of novels and made Lolth much weaker and less influential though. This is where it started I believe: https://dnd.dragonmag.com/2021/05/21/beyond-the-underdark-secrets-of-the-drow/content.html

Dunno what the retcons were since idk much about Forgotten Realms lore.

According to this, part of the dark elf section in the books has been altered.

Old text:

Descended from an earlier subrace of dark-skinned elves, the drow were banished from the surface world for following the goddess Lolth down the path to evil and corruption. Now they have built their own civilization in the depths of the Underdark, patterened after the Way of Lolth.

New text:

The cult of the god Lolth, Queen of Spiders, has corrupted some of the oldest drow cities, especially in the worlds of Oreth and Toril. Eberron, Krynn, and other realms have escaped the cults influence -for now. Wherever the cult lurks, drow heroes stand on the front lines in the war against it, seeking to sunder Lolth's web.

Lol the drow just got their entire religion retconned.

Old news but seems to have flown under the radar. That third party kickstarter to make a Dark Sun conversion to 5e with all the names filled off? Canceled

Apparently they were warned that legal action was highly likely

Hello everyone,

First, we’d like to thank you all for the outpouring of support and kind messages we’ve received over the past several days. It’s heartening to read all the messages of support and offers of help.

We’ve taken a brief pause in order to evaluate our course of action and return with our next step. However, we wanted to reach out and offer some assurances over the events of the past week and set the record straight.

Last week, we were politely warned that because of a few elements within our presentation of the Kickstarter page, legal action was highly likely without a change. We worked with the group who warned us, as well as with legal experts and trusted advisors, and a change was not possible given the deadline of the Kickstarter campaign. So we instead opted to end the campaign, assess the situation fully, and move forward from a position where we could evaluate all options.

We are continuing to evaluate our options; however, in the near term, we will make a selection of Dawnlands battle maps available through several sources. We’re just working towards finalizing the logistics of how to best deliver them and will provide a link shortly.

Information will continue to come through updates to this campaign, through BurningStar.Games [website] and our social media presence [Twitter] and [ Facebook ].

Stay tuned for future updates.

There have been no further updates since then. Wonder if wotc wagged a finger at them or something.

Can we even consider this dnd anymore if they are gonna retcon to this extent

People called it. It was only matter of time before Drizzt went from being a pariah to his own people to what all drow across the multiverse aspire to be.

Speaking of which, does this mean non-Lolth aligned drow don't have matriarchal societies? Without the angry spider lady being a misandrist, there's no other reason for them to be matriarchal.

Unfortunately, Eilistraee has the same matriarchal tendencies.

At this rate the 6e Monster Manual will only feature white men and all the traditional monsters from aboleths to zombies will be in the Players Handbook.

Completely retconned every salvatore earlier novels too, drizzt was "the one who escaped" according jarlaxle. I could understand more drow freeing themselves later on centuries after him, but the way they rewrote lore made absolutely no sense.Way to make them flavorless and boring like everything else.

This is stupid, the entire point of paying big bucks for a book full of monsters is that it gives you a fucking cookie cutter to work with.
You most likely aren't writing a major video game.
Eventually you're going to pay $400 for a book that is just a single page which says "lol make it up urself bro this is the best!!!"
If each table has their own interpretation of absolutely everything, what game are you even playing? What is the point of even having prewritten & default settings?

and dear god are we lucky that wotc isn't publishing things like dark sun anymore. Apparently those problematic books were only possible during the far-right moral crusade censorship, right?

They should just bring back Planescape to settle the metaphysics of this.
They're not that smart though...
