The problem is species ARE different. Smaller species of intelligent beings, with exception of magic races, they are typically similar in behavior as small rabbits vs large species of rabbits.

Well, there is difference that they have weapons, and when they are overcrowded they are killing inhabitants of surrounding countries and conquering their lands. Otherwise they can be jolly fellows.

If quaggoths win combat, they take all bodies, including those of dead quaggoths, to their lair and devour them.

They are semi-intelligent subterranean 110kg heavy bear species. Drows leaders saying "enter the drow army you'd meet a lot of intelligent people who you'd be able to kill and eat them".

Dim-witted is actually a specific term. IIRC Cirno from Touhou is both Genius, and Dim-witted. One of her dim-witted decision was after she killed few enemies by freeze spell and froze a big lake, she decided to sleep on the surface. It created massive fog, villagers were curious what's happening, when they found her happily sleeping on surface of deeply frozen ice, they didn't wait for anything turned back and ran away.

If they were not dimwitted they would be dominant species in the region with strong state, weapons, and tech advantages.

I think the issue of all the wokeshit is secondary to the trend of a community that looks down on combat and systemsfags. So many normies (and queers) have entered the space and put play acting and back story on such a high pedestal compared to the rest of the aspects of the game.

I thought everyone knew this. You get bonus starting XP in WoD for being:
- gay
- transgender
- black
- female
- emo
- oppressed background

You get bonus XP for:
- gay sex
- writing an emo poem about how the night is not as dark as your heart
- beating up white men
- raping white men

That's what I thought. Now imagine what they do to get bonus XP in game!

I think the issue of all the wokeshit is secondary to the trend of a community that looks down on combat and systemsfags. So many normies (and queers) have entered the space and put play acting and back story on such a high pedestal compared to the rest of the aspects of the game.

Blame Critical Role. That show was probably the main introduction to D&D for most of the normies and each season had placed less and less value on proper tabletop gameplay, world verisimilitude or any kind of proper consequences for the players' actions, in exchange for hours long semi-scripted play-acting circlejerk sessions.

Why keep up with the glacial release pace? There's more paypiggies than ever, and a new version is a fine time to release a whole slew of new books.
