I don't really understand why people believe that dark souls/demon souls was "slow and methodical". From what I recall it was mostly rolling around and ninja flipping and annihilating everything with a lightning claymore.

I think it's a first game effect, where your first souls game play through is usually 50 hrs long and half of it is spent crawling towards the next bonfire with your shield up sweating bullets. The game hasn't changed enough to give someone that first playthrough feeling again, which is kind of a shame, but a completely different argument.

It's immediately noticable how faster and more clusterfucky the combat is in 3 compared to 1 and 2. Has nothing to do with experience in souls games or not since this game plays more like Bloodborne.

i only remember people mentioning DaS2 being slow and methodical. people mentioned multiple times that DeS was pretty fast. DaS3 is roughly as fast, if not faster, lending to the same crappy floaty, weightless feel of DeS

Oh, you were? That must mean everyone did so as well as the games obviously forced you to play that way!

Highlight of the game so far:

I'm in the swamp of Faron Keep or whatever is called and I find a high ladder. I climb it, hit an illusory wall, found a bonfire and a covenant, took the elevator and went on the other side of the bridge where pilgrims died (the place with the dead dragon). And I fought an old friend.

This is Dark Souls.

Also, for low end AMD GPU users: Turn texture filtering to performance through the Catalyst control panel and you'll gain a lot of frames. Now I hit 50 fps with my 260x.

Also what is with this game throwing random mobs in your face that black your whole screen so you cant even see your own attacks regardless if locked on or not? Those harpies for example. Or the undead mage completely spamming soul arrows in your face every second. Who the hell likes shit like this?

What's up with players sliding around in a neutral pose? That's some next-level lag. At least you can still hit them when it happens.

EDIT regarding linearity: it hasn't bothered me on my current (first) playthrough since the levels are so sprawling, but I can see it robbing the game of the replayability Dark Souls 1 had.

Or the undead mage completely spamming soul arrows in your face every second.

I thought that was really cool. Wasn't expecting it, nor the Soul Spear it cast afterwards.

I also liked the
Crystal Sage's machine gun spell.

One criticism I will level at the game. Is that whoever designed the character creator has never looked in a mirror or seen another human being in their lives. They probably spent so long designing monsters that making anything remotely human looking is a big mystery to them.

What do you expect? Every gamer know plays DS3. Among them there are millions of super hero fans and other shit who likes this kind of stuff. I just didn't thought this forum contains that much casuals. "Dakh Shoulsh 3 has betther design than DS1 :outrage:" , "Fallout and Skyrim ish Okhey when modded :outrage:"

I haven't liked the videos I've seen so far but I want to give the game a chance. Do I even stand a chance of running it with GTX 460 2gb VRAM, 4 GB RAM, I5 2500 CPU@3,3 GHZ 3,3 GHZ? If I can get to 30 FPS it's good enough for me..

I wouldn't bet on it. Just try it first before stuffing shekels into Gaben's wallet.
Seeing as TW3 runs completely fine it could be possible but the japs make the worst ports on the planet.

Implying DS3 forces you to spam r1 to stunlock infinite mobs inBloodborne style

Two handing , dual wielding and sitting on your ass behind big shield is just as viable as was in previous games. Ffs just get fucking greatshield of glory and you can pretty much facetank even late game bosses poking at them safely. Also bows are finaly useful not only for luring out mobs.

About 30 hours in and seems like only final fight is left for me. Those last bosses
nameLess king , champion gundyr, twins, dragonslayer amor, dancer
step up the pace and are easily one of the best in Souls games. Also there are two secret areas i wouldnt find on my 1 playthrough had someone not help me. I almost fucked up one questline thanks to certain cheeky npc hidding under chameleon spell.

It seems like there are finaly proper questline that are more than just talk4 timeswith this npc or summon him 5 times. That one with chick in elite knight armor was pretty cool and im still not sure i did everything corectly for dark lord ending.

FIGURED IT OUT Rivatuner SC was just borked on my end.

I was getting constant crashing until I capped fps to 30. Graphics style is really boring so far, I prefer the more colorful approach of DSII SOTFS. Doesn't help that I cannot use 4x or even 3x DSR with this so lots of really ugly shimmering everywhere.
How can you cap the game at 30 fps? Currently it is running not so hot on my rig so I rather cap it than have it a jittery framerate

Rivatuner Statistic centre which comes with MSI afterburner or you can install it from site.
just set framerate cap at 30 fps.
If you game stutters a lot or you don't play at locked framerate always consider locking it down to 30fps.
AFgaBSg.jpg
Downloaded the latest version of Riva and used the same settings as in your picture but it is not working and using fraps at the same time show the framerate is not capped at 30...
Any ideas?

I got DS3 and it runs like total fucking shit on everything low 13xx*768 resolution. Something's fucked up with the game, the FPS must be below 20. How the shit can I run TW3 on medium-high settings and this piece of shit doesn't work? I'll try looking for some fixes.

Just read your previous post and was about to reply and see that you tried it.

I have a "beefier" system with a GTX 660 etc. With everything low and at 1280x720 I get 30 fps I would guess (didn't actually measure)?

If you find something let us know.

Me too. My card is the equivelant of a 740, but I get 5fps. While other people are posting video on youtube of my card running the game at 30fps. Not sure what's going on.

Wow, I'm currently runing this maxed at 40 fps (capped) on 1680x1050 res on a gtx 760. That 660 would perform that much worse is impossible.

Here's what I tried:
- force a 1280*800 resolution in Nvidia gamersuper experience program, cuz it said it was recommended
- force disable v-sync in program settings in nvidia panel
- update to the latest nvidia drivers
- force max performance in program settings for DS3 in nvidia panel
- alt-enter and back from the game
- my game is (and has been) 1.03 which is supposed to have the FPS issues fixed afaik

all settings are on the lowest possible. Something's definitely changed, it's almost playable now but the game got hung loading from death so I ended the process. Gonna go searching for more stuff and I'll test if higher game settings actually do anything to the performance.

I'm running GTX 660 and it's completely fine. Lighting on low to avoid crashes, but textures are on medium and both blur and depth of field are disabled.
