I love how all of you are going "Dark Sun rocks!!11!1one!2" without realizing what an absolute shitfest they'll make it with 4th Ed and "modern adaptions".

I've never tried 4th but 3-3.5 were utter crap. When every class can do everything because of the lame multi-classing rules there is no diversity in the characters.

D&D3.5 was like D&D3.0 except they multiplied the amount of stupid and useless stuff like gimmick spells, gimmick feats, useless prestige classes and, of course, epic levels.

OMG new Dark Sun cRPG plz!!!

I wouldn't count on it. Eberron was the new shit and there are hardly any games that use the setting. In fact I can only recall two: DDO and some shitty RTS. DS is much more low-profile than the hyped up Eberron so the chances are pretty slim.

Sword Coast 4 lyfe bitches

:? I sure hope you're only refering to DnD line, because otherwise it would be the dumbest thing I've read in a month and I visit some really dumb sites :?

Core 3.5 rules are better than core 3.0 rules. It's a motherfucking fact. If you don't want moar feats and classes and whatnot then simply don't buy the books that are all about them, silly. PHB + DMG + MM + setting-specific books are more than enough to enjoy the game.

This is going to be amazing, especially due to the brilliant 4e feature that player races don't ever get penalties to their stats and all start equal.

Well, one could argue there's still the inherent "roleplay" value difference between the various playable races - but removing stat penalties is still stupendously asinine.

Don't they get different bonuses?

Sure, but to quote Perfect Fool - see below - what about the variety of races that are statistically identical? That's what I was referring to mostly in terms of differing "roleplay value."

Half Giants in particular will be awesome with their +2 to STR and CON, which will make them completely different to Muls (+2 STR and CON) and Dwarves (+2 STR and CON).

No but at least this might indirectly lead to a decrease of vanilla Faerun fantasy adaptations in future products.

You are confusing Faerun with the Sword Coast (common mistake) there are some intresting areas in Faerun according to the wiki and Mask of The Betrayer.

And I doubt it, no amount of loli-popes stoped us from getting sword coast crap for 3e games, don't think it is going to stop sword coast crap from 4e games.

A new turn based crpg set in dark sun would be the bees knees. Heck, if done well it could be the catalyst for the revival of turnbased combat games.

The Dark Sun setting is awesome. I'd really like to see a new game in the spirit of Shattered Lands. Unfortunately any new crpg that has a PA setting would most likely try to be like FO3, since FO3 is the new hot shit. Turn-based RPG that not a jrpg or an indie title ? - Not likely to happen.

Well, don't they get bonuses to different skills as well as other different abilities (now and as you progress)?

Which is four times as many books as what you need to enjoy any other game.

Who cares about D&D, it's as archaic and unnecessary as WoD. They are both acceptable considering when they were first released, but why would you want to play their new editions that are just weak compared to other modern PnP games?
