I'm stopping playing until I can be sure there is no major issue left to be fixed and that every intended feature is completed instead of certain features and stats showing up as "N/A".

Possibly the first and last time I buy a game from DoubleBear, and I would have most definitively bought Age of Decadence instead had it been released already. Not because I didn't like the game, but because I believe this will be remembered as an one-hit wonder(although wonder is too generous of a word for it, it is just good but flawed at best), for all the things I enjoyed in this game were inherited or derived from Age of Decadence/Iron Tower, and should they ever need to create game mechanics from scratch instead of adopting a previously made base, I honestly cannot imagine them managing to develop even a mediocre game.

I like Dead State more than AoD. It has nice atmosphere, combat is fun so far (after a few tries I managed to lure zombies to the looters and get them killed) and that shelter management thing seems to be interesting. Can't say I am very impressed because I expected a lot more from Doublebear team, but Dead State is at least enjoyable to play, which I can't say about AoD or even Wasteland 2.

:mob:

Although to be fair AoD is entirely storyfagging. If that's not your bag at all then I can see where you're coming from. DS is almost entirely the opposite. Not enough story to keep anyone going so it relies entirely on party combat, looting, and base management.

Also loaded the game up real quick to check and everything's working peachy here now. Save loaded fine and I ran to a location to test it and my whole party showed up.

AoD is also extremely grog and cargo cult whereas Dead State is less so. Even less than Wasteland 2 apparently.

nice. all the weapons in my shelter inv are unloaded. including weapons that cannot be reloaded, like nailguns, flare guns, pepper spray and the like...
it's also a bit annoying how everything but bows, crossbows, and police shotguns stacks.

Couldn't agree more.

Is anyone playing this that thought the beginning is a disaster but then the game picked up a lot? I'll get it if someone thinks the game makes a really bad first impression but is good in the end. But if you're like naw the beginning is good ur taste is shhnnnnn-not my taste

I can't say I'm digging the survival sim/base management aspect, it's similar to This War of Mine which I honestly got bored of very quickly. If it gets better later on I might stick with it, but right now I feel like I'm playing someone's unfinished college project.

From what I'm reading in this thread, it sounds like Dead State is a worthy successor to Bloodlines.

So plenty of bugs to go around, but what features are still missing?

- When's hardcore mode coming?

I've had fun so far. Dialogue is mediocre, but passable. Combat slow and clunky, but I've found it quite satisfying all the same. Walking up behind zombies and clocking them in the back of the head with a baseball bat is fine. Really hope the game at some point chucks some devious infiltrating enemies at me that exploit the fact I just take in anyone. Seems to be no downside so far to just being a really nice guy and trusting all these random people I'm letting into the shelter. I'm about a week and a half in, still finding more food than my 15 or so allies are consuming. Resources holding up fine and haven't got to experience a crisis event yet.

I love AoD and barely pay attention to the dialog. Combat + character system drives the game for me.

I agree about Dead State though. If you don't like the shelter management and exploring/looting you won't feel any desire to keep going. The perk system is also kinda fun but I don't think it helps enough since you have to replay all the other stuff to see the different builds. The world is too static for it to be highly replayable. Iron man would help some since the idea of avoiding zombies due to fear of getting infected doesn't without it.

That's a relatively narrow way to play AoD though, as far as I'm aware (Haven't gone balls-deep on AoD yet because just like DS early access I don't wanna wear out on it before it's done) there's more variety to be had in non-combat skills/dialog than in different combat focused runs. I guess I could be mistaken in that though, especially if there are violent ways to play drifters and such. And since it's AoD I wouldn't be surprised.

And you can see the perks in the manual. Would be nice if you could check them out in the game so you could plot out a character a bit easier, but if you're curious to can crack the manual open. I definitely agree on the static world being a bit of a bummer. Not a dealbreaker but the benefits to a static world (Detailed handcrafted areas) aren't really there for me in DS. It sorta feels like the ideal form of DS would be increased randomization and leaning more heavily on the zombie-Xcom side of things. I haven't been especially enamored with any of the personalities on the NPCs, so they could be random buckets of stats/skills/personality traits and perks and I'd be fine with that. Would open up the game more to playing as a bad guy too, as currently it seems like there's no reason to. The morale hit for killing people for goodies is disproportionate compared to the benefit. It could be they're doing something in the background so your morale penalty is reduced/removed depending on how dire your situation back at base is (Don't have enough food for the day? Half morale penalty! Didn't have enough food for the previous day? No morale penalty!) but as far as I'm aware it's just a flat hit. Plus it could be based on the NPCs with you. With less focus on the story aspect you could have randomly generated NPCs who are either sadistic or don't give a shit and get morale bonuses/no penalty for killing people for beans.
Anything is possible at zombo.com. Anything at all.

Since Dead State's back in order I'm gonna get back to hitting people in the back of the head for a while. http://www.twitch.tv/m_hc

Edit: May have spoken too soon about everything being peachy. Appears Dead State's video isn't getting grabbed by my streaming software any more. I'll try rebooting and rejiggering things and see if it gets rolling again. Could be something screwy for me.

Edit 2: Yep, was something screwy on my end. Just had to re-attach it in the streaming software. Something about the patch made it lose it.

Alright, the fix is out! We also fixed some other misc stuff like the dark character in the inventory screen and such.
are you still working on the maps or should i stop bothering?

Yep, we are still working, all these reports you did will go into the next patch (I was focusing on other work and couldn't take care of them). Thank you very much for them!

okay then, have a few more

COMRestStop3
both the chicken and the bison place have backdoors that don't block despite being closed.

COMTruckStop
the lootable yellow semi truck cannot be looted because "can't move to target"

UNQTheCity01
forgot to mention it, with a 4 people and wild dog party there are annoying issues with the staircases where characters will spawn on door tiles on transition (which can trigger combat immediately in cases where there are mercs in the corridor). it also makes arranging people to go to another level very annoying, especially in the ones that have blocked doors.

Played some more hours. Anyone have any idea how to use
the English to Japanese dictionary? After I got Ryan and Michiru I found the library and thought MAN I BET I SHOULD LOOT THAT, MIGHT BE GOOD BOOKS IN THURR and found that and thought I was in the money. Sadly I can't for the life of me figure out how to use it. I tried rubbing it on both of them (Putting it in their inventories), I tried holding it on my PC and talking to them like with a luxury item, I tried leaving it in the base stash (Which didn't seem to impact the "Teach her english" time). Can't for the life of me figure it out.

Food is slowly starting to creep down since I've got so damn many people, and morale is still pretty miserable. Once I get the wood fence up I'm considering just putting everyone on morale boosting jobs for a while. Was tempted to build a recycler so I could grind up a bunch of items, but sheesh. Already had one morale crisis event, probably should get that shit sorted.

I don't get UI complain. It's great.
Music is kind of bare but bare but fitting (SH vibes)
GFX sure doesn't look too hot but it is usable.

As of gameplay imo it plays well. It is definitely interesting game.
As of dialogs i played only so much but imo they are awesome.
I think to many people played Obsidian wooden " i don't want to say anything that may sound emotional" and count something like this as + not -.
This looks like Fallout1/2 dialogs where PC has actually something to say instead of shitty robotic generic questions.

Hope with suckers money they will upgrade it*

* finish it

Almost broke tbe game for me tbh - by the time i built it i had a lot of garbage (shit weapons, excess armor parts, etc) in the stash, recycled it and ended up with over 300 parts. Before that exploration was kinda tense because i really SCAVENGED for parts - left no stone unturned.

i think having it in shelter inv just triggers the morning sequence where he says he wants to teach her, and then she progressively understands more.

sequences are still somewhat broken, though. i had mia apologize to me one morning, with me clicking "why would i be angry with you" and just then seeing how the line below it says something about her shouting at davis, which never happened.
also cleaned out the coyotes after regina showed up, but before they demand anything of you or she talks about it, and then davis talks as if all those things happened (which is funny because you can clean them out even before she shows up). i hope i haven't broken anything since i didn't take her on the mission. i think that location is meant to be a hidden story loc, like some of the others.

That's the same site that called DA:I best RPG since Skyrim.
They were also advertising Fallout 3 on their site (whole background was bought by Bethesda) and gave it 9/10. One could argue that there was no conflict of interest here and they were as objective in their evaluation as possible but since they also banned for writing unfavourable to F3 comments (not to mention that they praised this turd without presenting any reasonable arguments)...

In other words it's a Polish version of IGN.
