Well, they've said multiple times that it's basically a reskin sitting on top of the old game running underneath which is why you can flip back and forth with a hot key. I have no idea what that means to a software engineer, but taken literally, it'd mean no bug fixes, improvements, or changes other than an art overhaul.

On that note, the druid has been taken from a young Nordic man in furs and turned into a lice ridden old hobo who looks like he kidnaps and eats people when he isn't day-drinking himself into a not-so-early grave.

This is an improvement. If you live out in the wilderness as a dirt-worshiping heathen you shouldn't look like an unsullied, red-haired Nicholas Cage. At least he has a proper beard now and that bear paw shawl has been fixed to not look absurd.

The only other one that's acceptable is the Necromancer who at least maintained status-quo. The rest are just plain awful.

Eh, the Sorceress actually looks decent, and she looks like an ACTUAL remaster of the original, her and the necro are the only 2 that look like the 'artists' were working off the actual original image and concept art.

The others look like they had vague instructions and told them to keep the same clothes and let them just go hog-wild with SJWing them.

The amazon is clearly the worst, but the barbarian is almost as bad, IMO. He looks straight up Down's Syndrome in the picture posted.

Where on EARTH did you hear that. Legit, who told you that.

They already openly said that they're fucking with the base game, and that their goal was - IN THEIR WORDS - to keep it '70% intact'.

There's a whole host of changes besides the art.

BESIDES removing TCP/IP support, they're fucking with the UI, they're making it 'accessible', screwing with all of the base sounds in the name of 'modernizing' them, changing the graphics of a lot of spells and skills (NOT just updating them - totally changing the visuals) and are 'rebalancing' a whole bunch of skills and items.

And that's not even talking about like 'cross-progression', 'shared stashes' and things like auto-loot, and even more SJW bullshit about how they need to make it 'accessible' for disabled people. <---- That is real, that is something they said 'concerned' them.

The idiots 'remastering' this crap have no idea how or why the original is so popular, so they're screwing with whatever their Twatter bubble of idiots that never played the game tells them are 'problematic'.

As I said in the WC3 thread, this is going to end like the idiot bint that decided she was going to 'fix' a masterpiece painting of Jesus on the wall of a church.

D2 has always had some netcode issues, but it was never unplayable in 2000, like it is now. Keep in mind that we had way worse internet connections back then than we do now yet the game is now unplayable online. The fix is as simple as upgrading the servers to a better one and it's laughable if they didn't bother to do that with their relaunch of the game. I have not played D2 Remastered, but I have seen people complain that it is very laggy and that just reminds me of my experiences trying to play D2 over the past few years on b.net.

This also brings up the worrying fact that D2 Remastered has an expiration date that the original release didn't. D2 can still be played online with friends over TCP/IP (even with mods), regardless of the state of the b.net servers. If D2 Re doesn't have TCP/IP support then you're beholden to the good will of Blizzard.

You're clearly far more invested in this than I am. But it was a talking point in more than one video preview. I don't care enough to look for them, I accept your assertion that it's not true.

Finished act 1.
The game is very dark, not hardcore, just annoying.
I like the aesthetics, they are not cartoonish like in diablo 3. They went for the realism angle and it works better to create a darker atmosphere.
The boss fight is underwhelming, Andariel felt like an elite mob and not like a boss.
Lots of issues with connectivity and bugs, had to repeat the monastery four times because of it.
But this is to be expected from a closed beta, I guess they will fix it eventually.

Can you even target specific mobs with the analog stick? Far as I remember from the previews you can merely pick the general direction of attacks, and it's not ideal when, say, you're trying to target a shaman amidst resurrectable mobs.

I don't know if this is worth asking as judging by your avatar you seem like a huge D2 fan, but was she seriously easier than vanilla Andy? I didn't know they were introducing balance changes.

There is no indication from any official source that any balance changes were made. Unless you want to count increased stash size as a balance change.

Normal Andy probably felt easier because his build wasn't a shitsoup. Two decades of hindsight.

That's pretty much all of D2 bosses. A melee character with life leech will just hold left click on a boss until it drops.

I was always disapointed she didn't have a hug attack with your face stuck in her boobies. She has those spider-like appendages after all.
