It's the result of a new generation of devs and publishers handling intellectual properties they had no hand in creating. Blizzard, Firaxis, Bioware and so forth are simply riding on the success of their elders and betters but those people are gone and the rest of the staff has no idea what to do. Or rather: They have zero connection to the audience those IPs originally attracted. Instead they focus on what they know, which is mobile garbage.

Blizzard killed Diablo, EA killed C&C and Simcity, Firaxis resurrected an already dead franchise. Even if you don't like the Nuxcoms, there is a huge difference.

I am long time fan of all those franchise and i think Firaxis is the lesser evil of all that, im more upset about Diablo mobile or Maxis shutdown tbh.

Poor fucking Wyatt Cheng, having to do that presentation. He doesn't even seem genuinely excited. This has to be the trainwreck-iest unveiling that I've ever seen.

And then the ending. He tries to "end it" several times, waiting for applause to walk off the stage, but it just doesn't happen. He's stuck there, having to make up filler. If ever there was a man that wished he could evaporate at will, this was it.

Imagine having paid $200 for the opportunity to clap for a reskinned chinese mobile Diablo game.

Out-of-touch doesn't really encapsulate the disconnect between Blizzard execs and those who attend their Blizzcon (and pay good money for it) - most are hardcore fans of the PC games that have made Blizzard what it is today and the rest are console gamers.

Nobody paid money, took time out of their schedule, paid for hotel and lodging to clap for a fucking mobile reskinned chinese game.

Please stop repeating this. There are no console gamers at blizzcon. Most of Blizzard's products never make it to console and the ones that do are years later than PC.
