my jimmies are unrustled, im just legitimately baffled as to how this thing is getting so much love/hype from the msm when i dont remember them giving a shit about disco at all until a few weeks before the game released. seems fishy to me!!

until i see evidence proving otherwise, im just going to carry on and assume that kurvitz gives the best head in the entire eastern bloc

They found out it was made by far-left commies.

And I was called a shill for telling people that this game was real cool. Don't be too butthurt about Disco Incline winning awards and getting love.

Wow, the pretentiousness of Time magazine is overwhelming, especially if the other games on the list are indeed Skyrim, Fortnite and Pokemon Go. The cover is indeed great, though, but what does it have to do with DE or any of its content?

I might be all for it if this turns out to be some kind of communist ploy to show how the perceptions of the public/mainstream can be swayed by having money in a capitalist regime and nothing else. If true, this probably beats the combined insights of all the communist and socialist economists/philosophers. In the sense of convincing power.

Umm, I think the more sane thing to take from this is that if you believe in yourself and work hard you can succeed against the odds. They are a tiny little team that made Time's cover, great for them, they deserve it. :)

Better 2010s games made by small teams—AoD, Underrail, Infra Arcana, Caves of Qud—are not on the cover of Time. The real lesson from this list: the values of the market are the values of the common and the lowly. Pursue your personal vision of greatness, regardless of whether it will grant you fame and wealth.

Disco proves a niche game that the developers deeply cared about can also become a hit with a more mainstream audience. Nothing wrong with that, and it happens quite a bit in the entertainment industry.

Not to win awards and be on the cover of Time magazine, though. Also, I don't think it has sold so many copies.

look at all these people pretending that this game isn't like the biggest normie bait you could possibly have

You'd say that about any super niche game that attracts mainstream attention. As soon as the game has success it's suddenly normie bait. Biased against success a little bit?

The Codex: Disco is pretentious hipster shit and also a commercial flop

(Disco wins all the awards and goes up two categories on steamspy)

The Codex: Disco is commercial mainstream normie bait

Don’t ever change, Codex

But pretentious hipster stuff is precisely normie bait. It pulls all the right strings - "deep rpg with no combat" (aka soccer dads won't have to do anything other than read), "deep komplex writung" (aka I don't understand some of the vocab and the syntax is confusing which must mean it's sublime), "incredible nonlinearity" (i get different skillchecks that ultimately matter little but the smokes and mirrors is what counts), "politicool content" (i can post pics of my agenda-based character on twitter!!!), etc. It's like being surprised about the popularity/criticool acclaim of The Walking Dead.
