Such misplaced faith into humanity..Try being teacher once, after some contact with kids(not a private school for the few rich and educated) youll understand why consoles games are made like this nowadays, in fact i am pretty sure bethesda games are too complex for the new generation.

Is the 4h gameplay really confirmed ?

I did some teaching (albeit at university, but I was trying to teach students of medicine some physics, so it still counts :M ).
And I'm convinced that many people grow with their tasks. You have to present them some challenge if you want them to use their resources.
Modern games are made for people with an IQ around room temperature. Believe it or not, most can muster more if they have to.

Btw. one geman review said something about 20-25 hours, but the guy seemed to be a completionist and take his time.

You people really need to stop watching TotalBloatedHalibut. Why enable a man who gets paid just to give his 'impressions' and not even properly review games?
Because he's entertaining (for some) and gives detailed semi-early impressions of games? I'll take him over any mainstream game review site, that's for sure.

And the guys from rps said that if you play straight, you will not reach 10h of playing. Which means that they put all the retarded powers in the game, but they were unable to balance it. Not surprising.
However from all the reviews, they tried to create an atmospheric game world and that's probably the only reason to play this game.

Even without playing it I can already tell you this game would have been twice as good without the power bloat and by being at least four times as difficult.

Uh... you can't really get any more mainstream than him.

Not really. Sure he's pretty popular, but still nowhere near as big as major gaming magazines etc. And while he does tend to be a bit annoying sometimes and over-hypes various titles through forced excitement, he will also always call games out if they are shit and usually in pretty good detail, especially if the PC versions aren't any good. Plus, I'll take 20-40 minutes of actual gameplay footage over a spliced-together trailer.

The only reason he's popular is because he has exclusive content before it's released, aka. he's the publishers's bitch. He's no more honest than review sites giving 5 out of 10 for developers that didn't bribe them.

You know, there is watching computer games, and there is playing computer games. These people who are watching Minecraft videos are bit strange. Watching a Joe average playing computer games is waste of time. Even when he wouldn't be dumb as a brick, you'd lose surprise, and will not have fun learning new things.

Why would you play the game after you watched it?

There are reviews, watching first few minutes of games WITHOUT some retarded comments, and there is also info that has been released before. Basically there are ways how to make a semiinformed decision based on multiple reasonable sources.

There are games that can be watched (without comments), like FF XIV, ACIII, Dragon Age2, but mostly it's just a compensation for not being able to play at least pirated version. (Thought both these recordings of FF XIV I seen were decent.)

Some games are really great to watch but not very fun to play, due to clunky controls or broken gameplay- or even, due to a language barrier.
I think Deadly Premonition is a great example of the former and Dangan Ronpa one of the latter.

Yeah, that is the one thing I miss not living with a roommate anymore. This dude played EVERYTHING console wise (But this dude is the guy that introduced me to Fallout Deus Ex and System Shock 2 and played regular PnP sessions). He was basically my window into the world of popamole. He was actually a good player, where as I am shit. It was interesting seeing the different games and how they worked/played.

Dishonored looks like a game of the year candidate. The graphical style is reminiscent of Super Mario Galaxy, so that's already a plus in my book.

I presonally cannot wait to see the ending. Would it have been to much trouble for Bethesda to include a cheat code to skip to the ending?

Is this built on a commercial engine like Unreal or Source, or is it all in-house?

This wasn't really on my radar until I looked at a couple of video reviews and I'm definitely intrigued now.

Don't make me lose my respect for you, bro! :x Seriously, though, the guy rode Blizzard's nuts to mass popularity with a WoW 'podcast' or whatever. Then when he had enough subscribers he dropped them like a bad habit (which, quite frankly, it is). This is 2012 where these youtube bloggers are pretty much the mainstream since fewer and fewer people can actually be bothered to read a review whether it's in print media or a webpage.

sea are you going to post your impressions
I'm not buying it.

Pfft! Why is sea not one of the official prestigious Codexian e-magazine reviewers and who failed to get him his review copy! We got one for Dark Souls! I'm guessing Bethesda won't touch this place with a ten foot pole.

I haven't really followed this game much and can't be arsed to read this thread. Anyone want to give me the highlights on the Kritikal Kodex Konsensus so far? Looks good or looks like shit?

Also, TotalBiscuit is so fucking terrible. I've never seen him do anything 'cept praise the fuck out of shitty popamole console games.

I think the majority give it a thumbs down, a few others take the 'wait and see' approach and, of course, it's a day one purchase for Morgoth. From what I gather it is fairly analogous to Bioshock in terms of 'depth' of combat.
