I'm playing a no-kill stealth playthrough on very hard. I'm enjoying it a lot.

It kind of sucks that dogs counts as hostile kills. I'm not sure but I think throwing sleeping guards into water kills them, which is pretty cool but kind of ruined an entire level for me. There's always 1-2 hostile kills even though I only use sleeping bolts. I haven't noticed anyone noticing me, but I haven't got ghosting either.

Blink makes the stealth aspect trivial, even on very hard, and stop time makes combat trivial, even on very hard.

I don't know how good the C&C is but I'll probably not give the game another playthrough just to check. Not enough locations and abilities/weapons to warrant another go.

Plus in Thief you were playing a (Mostly) normal dude. In this you're playing a supernatural assassin. Even before you're supernaturally charged you're supposed to be bodyguard to the empress, right? So presumably you'd be good at making fight.

Edit: Though I still haven't played, been Xcomming too much. Maybe I should finally check this out.

It's okay.
You know what I like about this game? That it runs smoothly in 1920x1280 on max settings on my 2-year old graphics card. (GTX 580) without ever crashing. Not many games do that anymore.

Oh no, someone bought a new videogame knowing perfectly well what they were getting and what the risks are!? Shame them!

2011, I swear.

A new video game from Bethesda knowing perfectly well where that money goes!

Shame them until they repent.

Also I'd be saying the same thing if it was BioShock or Thief KILLAH SHADOWZ

Furries, I swear.

The game is by Arkane, creator of, uh, Arx Fatalis, beloved Ultima Underworld 2.5? Grow up. It's newshit; it's good and fun for what it is. It's no System Shock and we all known nothing ever will be, except maybe some Looking Glass reunion Kickstarter.

Looking Glass Studios reunion Kickstarter... I think I need to lie down for a minute.

Arx Fatalis is a 2002 title, they were acquired by Zionmax in 2010. I suppose you're one of those people who put faith in a name and don't pay attention to what else goes on with them.

Not to mention Harvey Smith one of the majestic minds behind Deus Ex Invisible War and Area 51 BlackSite.

Don't forget Xbox 360 lead development development platform. You've been here since 2005 you think you'd know better by now.

I'm digging all the little details you can unearth through the heart and by snooping around. Like the fellows at RPS said, it's very much a superhero game in disguise. What's amazing to me is how well it works*.

As long as you turn off all retard helpers, play on very hard and like exploring.

I'm a few missions in and my biggest gripe so far is, well besides how damn easy it is, that they don't give you specific directions to the quest givers in-between missions; meaning that if you play without the assists turned on they're kind of a pain to find.

I guess that's actually my second biggest gripe because the game is insanely easy. Blink makes you a stealth assassin god. Game's still fun though and has a lot of books laying around to read, too damn many in my opinion.

An important question: if blink was modded out of the game to eliminate the extreme lack of difficulty, would that make the game fun, challenging and most importantly still possible to complete (presumably the game is built around Blink quite a bit)?

At least the game has settings for FOV, mouse acceleration, and other stuff you rarely find in modern "PC" titles (I'm looking at you, Dark Souls and Guild Wars 2...) It deserves some credit for that if nothing else.

Yeah, a FOV slider that only goes up to 85. Might as well not have it

Man there's a lot of faggotry in this game, including one inquisitor sending love letters to another.

No, maps would still be small, there would still be conveniently placed barriers and other hiding places where enemies patrol, dogs would still keep sleeping soundly after you break a glass ceiling right on top of them, unconscious bodies would still disappear for mysterious reasons...

It's not like you stop using blink and suddenly all design flaws are fixed, you'd just take a lot longer to get anywhere

It sounded to me like people were claiming that Blink was the overriding reason why stealth was so easy.

Seems like mods will never fix the underlying game then. I'm sure a natural urge would have been to create a mod to Thief-ify it as much as possible but it also sounds like the maps would need to be remade for that to be possible.

Xbox limitation apparantly when you put a few together and a bane to my ambition to create the biggest tower of unconscious npc's ever. First time it happened I was sure the fucker woke up and searched all over for him. Fuuuu...

Does it work on every NPC in the game?

Think it does. So far it even has something to say about corpses you find. It also has something to say about innocents you kill. :)

And if you look around a bit you can find a little info on that heart and what it is that's pretty disturbing. A lot of the fluff in this game is pretty disturbing btw. I like it.
