That's an Angthoron statement.

And it doesn't say "no imps."

I am somewhat concerned about their listening to all the dummies who wanted the series to be more serious. There's a chance it'll end up feeling like a Bioware game when it comes to tone.
Bioware games have plenty of humor in them, though it's questionable how much of it is intentional.

Which doesn't make too much sense. There were like 70 bazillion imps in the desert area at the end of Divine Divinity, and other ones that were story/quest related that were in the game.

It feels like there are going to be a few continuity gaps between this, Divine Divinity, and Beyond Divinity.
I don't think there's any danger of anyone noticing: http://divinity.wikia.com/wiki/Rivellon

On Shapeshifting goal:

Creator Larian Studios LLC about 4 hours ago
(Swen here, leaving office and probably back in 30 mins) The shapeshifting goal is the coolest you've ever seen in a RPG! I probably didn't explain it well but it's going to be very good and open up all kinds of new gameplay avenues. It's the problem with these new concepts we're introducing - they are sometimes hard to imagine but once you'll see them in action, you won't be able to imagine life without them :)

Creator Larian Studios LLC about 3 hours ago
Hello all! (Swen back again) The way we envision it now shapeshifting mask is a race/gender bender, not an origin/trait/other tag bender. There's going to be a lot of gameplay in trying to figure out different angles with this. Our entire companion system is going to be more advanced than what you're used to (and more complex) so I fear it's only going to become really clear what's possible once we get to show that, but we're still working on implementing it in the prototype. Once that is done, I hope all those fears will melt like snow for the fire demon ;)

@Elwyn: Nothing is going to be free in D:OS 2. Source powers, favours and certainly something as powerful as shapeshifting. It's not going to be - click, you're a lizard, click you're a human. There'll be a price to pay. It's yet another option in your arsenal of things to do in the game and it'll add to the freedom of playing.

A lot of it's intentional and that's what I meant; that it'd lose its whimsical fairy tale aspects and become a straightforward fantasy setting where characters crack a lot of jokes and occasionally behave absurdly.

Cancelled pledge. I will keep my codex donation, since i dont really have a choice lol and it got me some ad free time, so thats good.

The KS comments ("OMG Romance!11! Love it Larian! Plz include lgbt") are probably an indication as to where Larian is headed (bioware territory). Maybe that also explains Svens sudden strange obsession with the low number of female players (who gives a fuck about the gender distribution among your customers if you are selling like hotcakes and make mucho millions). Gotta have a 50/50 split, cause balance and inclusive.

Larian apparently wants to make the racial stuff (seperate dialogs, locked locations etc) skippable / meaningless by introducing a "shape shifting mask".

"No dwarves allowed here! Oh wait you just equipped your troll mask, allright then, please enter Wehatedwarvesville!". At least some commenters on KS are recognizing and pointing out this glaring mistake.

They need to work on what they do well. All these talk of romances, more towns, fake racial c&c reeks of feature creep and stretch goal begging.

javier: It's a new game, you'll have both the EE and D:OS listed in your library.
In regards balancing the shape-shifting mask, we're aware that it's going to be something that we'll be working very hard to get right. We've built an entire game around your Origins and people reacting differently to you based on your appearance, so we're not going to throw all of that out the window with one over-powered item :)

javier: We do understand the concern, but we have some ideas that we think will work well to make the mask a fun addition that will make the gameplay deeper, rather than being used as a cheat to get around obstacles. More details to come, though.

Still not sure why you guys think that the D:OS:2 optional text based romances are going to be akin to bioware full mo-cap romances.

It's content that could be somewhere else.. If we know ahead of time it's going to be optional yet squeemish writing that panders to the LCD - Why even bother?
Give us another side quest or something instead.

Was about to write the same thing. Also, Larian should make the game they want to make. Not what some retard who likes to pretend romance likes.

The romance garbage should either be and option you can TURN OFF, or just an optional download.

This shit is not really giving me much optimism for this game, when any second of development time is wasted on this garbage and SHOULD be spent on the areas of the game the original severely lacked... :M

I'm not a backer of this game anymore. You had failed me Larian. You surrendered to this... filth that demands you to make a BioWare clone of yourself. If that must be this way let it be, but without me.

yeap

They should keep the main game clean, without things that will not interest to the majority and sell these features as DLC, like:
- Romance DLC
- SJW DLC
- Porn DLC
- Balance DLC
- etc
This way, they can (probably) win more cash and everybody is happy.

To be honest, D:OS did lack severely on the 'romance' part, considering it was one of their selling points of the kickstarter something akin to "You can become rivals, or maybe even become lovers," of which they delivered on zero of those aspects.

But there are definitely better areas to spend money on imo.

Between Larian and Piranha Bytes embracing romances, there aren't a lot of games left for the anti-romantics now.

Thankfully we still have studios like Obsidian who refuse to sacrifice their integrity to win over the romance crowd.

What, were you expecting a troll image here?

You realize I was being sarcastic, right? I get the impression the romance thing would be something Larian is interested in themselves rather than solely doing it for their fans.
