Do any of you video game snobs cave to the temptations of cheat engine, console commands, etc.?

I cheated in WOTR to give myself 1 million Hellknights in the crusade mode (edited save files). It was the worst mechanic in any game I've ever played and there's no way I'd have bothered completing the game without that.

I use console commands in pretty much every game that has them, be it to give myself Boots of Speed in a NWN module, or to set up an interesting political situation in Europa Universalis.
The point of singleplayer games isn't player excellence, its having fun.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Codex Year of the Donut Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I never use cheats. If a game beats me, I'm gonna hate it, and I will let the hate fester and consume me. Then I will complain about it as often as I can on Codex. Just circle of life things.

cheaters are disgusting subhumans tbh
Using speedhacks is cheating. You're no different than the rest of the cheating scum. If you cheated in any way to get through a game, barring extreme cases like needing to bypass a bug that prevents progress, then you did not actually play the game. I'm having the realization that it seems like 99% of the people on this forum cheat their way through every game they play and thus have never really completed a single game or had a single genuine experience. To an NPC everything is about consuming their way through one thing as briskly and effortlessly as possible so they can move onto the next thing and repeat the same. What a sad state. And this is on a forum where the motto is "does not scale to your level." Apparently it doesn't count if you use cheatengine to scale the game to your level.

That's rich coming from a guy with 50,000 low effort posts on this forum. I guess that's why you need to speedhack your way through games so you can get back to posting more retarded shit? I like to spend my time playing a game for real, instead of pretending I played a game as I cheat my way through it as quickly as possible.

I'm using console cheats all the time when playing Doom maps. Warp to the next map for pistol start. Reveal secrets on the map if I can't find them. Noclip to explore the map or backtrack to missable secrets.

Here's the thing with speedhacks, when you start using speedhacks to get through a moment of boredom, it becomes increasingly easy to then turn to speedhacks over any perceived inconvenience, and then you're playing through the entire game with them. The same way any cheating happens, where first you use it to get past something that is frustrating, then before you know it you are relying on it for everything (same happens when you look at game guides, first it's using the guide for that one puzzle you can't get past, then you have the guide open constantly and begin referring to it for everything, then you feel like you have to have the guide even before you start playing). Then after relying on speedhacks to play through games, your perception of speed is permanently altered, a game that used to feel normal now feels interminably slow because you're so used to doing everything at fast-forward. So you've effectively screwed yourself into a situation where you now feel like you have to use speedhacks; it's not the game that is too slow, it's that you've turned yourself into an ADHD zoomer. Then it's a short road to demanding that developers change their games, speeding things up, adding in fast forward functions, making all sorts of demands for "personalized experiences" and pozzed casualization (saw this with Space Wreck and people demanding the camera speed be sped up when there was no issue with the speed, and people like jarlfrank, a notorious cheater who cheated his way through AOD, in the thread even saying they would use cheatengine speedhacks before he's even played the game).

It's interesting to note that the same argument of "my time is so valuable I don't want to waste it" is used in the same way by people demanding easy modes in games, demanding that no one attempt to implement save systems that go beyond save-anywhere, demand that no games experiment with time limit features, and people that rely on speedhacks. It's all the same casualization, and if your time is so valuable then maybe go spend it doing something else.

A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I remember back in the day we used Action Replay console (it's an actual physical dongle you attach to your computer) on Amiga 500 to set all the player skills to 200 in Player Manager (that's C8 in hex, I still remember). You'd have to search for the computer memory for matching hex data, and then change to numbers of your liking.

After that I've not used cheats, as it is kinda more arduous than actually playing the games - which is a chore in itself, too.

Insert Title Here Strap Yourselves In I helped put crap in Monomyth
the most i've done is exploring maps in source engine games with sv_cheats 1 and noclip (or setting sv_friction or sv_gravity to insane values for shits and giggles), otherwise i just get gud
