I can't think of nu-Doom games as Doom games. Their design is too far removed from classic Doom. They're just first-person shooters that happen to have "Doom" in their name, and they can be good for what they are, or not.

Yeah they are different enough to be treated as spin-offs I think. I had a lot of fun with Eternal, but it doesn't really play like Doom game.

I just hope that "medieval inspired" doesn't mean Doomguy gets a sword or that it's just Doom Eternal 2 with different weapons. They could also tone down the rip and tear aspect and remove glorykills, but I somehow doubt that's going to happen...
If I want more classic Doom, there's still a million different WADs to play.
Exactly.
There's so many great WADs to pick and play that they shit all over nu-Doom.
Also the monster design is just terrible in nu-Doom...
Straight cartoonish.
Everything is just so "flashy" and annoying.

Something I thought I'd never say:

"Lore-based DOOM got too weird."

Not feeling it. I never even played Doom Eternal because I heard they went full reddit in both gameplay and story. This just seems like a missed opportunity for a remake/reboot of Quake, with gameplay that isn't all doped-up, hyper-energetic, and edgy to the point of insanity.

Looks like the same wannabe Marvel garbage that the DLCs for Eternal were, complete with a Captain Murrica shield for nuDoomguy this time.

Story is probably going to be cringe again. But I wanna see some proper gameplay videos.

Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Yeah, for me this particular trailer had me grinning all through it. Doom Eternal, with its fisher-price HUD and monsters looking as if they were made out of playdoh materials, couldn't even convince me to buy it (well, it having Denuvo didn't help at all, but AFAIK it is now removed but i still don't feel like playing it).

This one though? I love grimdark settings, sci-fi settings, fusion of sci-fi and fantasy, over the top concepts, metal music, fast-paced FPS games and i failed to notice a single thing in the trailer that i might dislike. Even if it wasn't Doom (whatever "Doom" is supposed to be after six different mainline games and a bunch of spinoffs over more than three decades), i'd still be looking forward to it.

They were never going to come up with a better title than Hell on Earth and Eternal, so "Doom: The Era Without Toilet Seats" it is

Not feeling the initial trailer. I was hoping for a Quake reboot. As long as they keep the difficulty of Eternal I'm game. Weird direction to go to though.
