I was going to agree with Rhalle, because I'd been taught exactly the same distinction, but Merriam-Webster actually makes a more nuanced claim:

Customizing the stats is the only thing that matters. Funnily enough this was a compromise that Obsidian figured out years ago way back in the Sith Lords. You could change Kray-Kray and Visas's robes but their looks would always remain the same. Same deal with Zhjaeve in NWN2 although that was a unique model issue.

Funnily enough, that "compromise" has been around since the beginning[1]. You could change Black Mage's robes, but his look would remain the same.

It's the default option when you are too lazy to draw new graphics for each piece of equipment (or there isn't space on the disk).

I see it as a bit of a backwards step, one of the (very few) nice things about shifting everything to 3D was the more satisfying barbie dress up elements, but they're being removed to cut costs.

Maybe once we're used to having characters keep a single appearance all game, they'll introduce the totally new and unique idea of giving each character a couple of different looks based on the general type of armor he is wearing, or giving the main character a new look when he powers up midway through the game. Progress!

Mangel an Interesse can be used synonymously for Disinteresse. Given the similarity of english and german I have no reason to believe it's any different in english, especially since a quick internet research confirmed it.

Just because two languages of the same family have corresponding words do not mean that they are used in the same way. Word meanings and usages change frequently, and not necessarily in parallel.

Disinterested basically means that one doesn't care either way. Example: What kind of ice cream do you want: vaniila or chocolate?

If you don't care either way, but you still want some ice cream, you are disinterested.

If you don't want any at all, or the thought of ice cream (or Dragon Age Complete Edition) makes you sick, then you are uninterested.

Well, google seems to agree with you. While I still think this is just an elaborate cover-up for some American who misused/made up the shitty sounding word "uninterested" where she meant to use "disinterested", it's clear that everyone uses disinterested as "is not interested in/shows no interest in" and not as another word for "impartial". So, as we already have "impartial" and don't need another word that means the same, and nobody uses "uninterested", I'm perfectly fine with continuing using disinterested the way I always have. No matter how elaborate the Yanks make their cover-ups.

I am so intrigued by this thought - how long can they keep this up? They continue to piss off people with every game. Look at Bethesda, big studio, release a AAA game, get majestic sales + reviews. Sure it's dumbed down, but it's not anywhere near the level of retardation of DA2.They are basically hugely successful in the fantasy RPG space. They seem to have stayed true enough to their core fanbase while attracting newer ones (I've never played an ES game).

Bioware simply cannot do this. They have this very awkward delivery, somewhere between wanting to be a jock and being a homosexual basement dweller. It doesn't work. It's fucking retarded.

I really hope that ToR fizzles out after a little while and they just lose so much money that it isn't feasible to continue. Then the good devs will go off and form a new company and it will be okay possibly for a few more years.

One thing is for fucking sure, anything they do with Dragon Age now will be truly tainted. I guarantee that they will get next to NO pre order sales this time round. It was a clusterfuck no matter what you say about the sales, the game was fucking horrible.

If they want sales the best moves they could make would be to publicly state that Laidlaw has been "transitioned to another project" and then proceed to actually make a real Dragon Age sequel.
