There's both stylized or 'realistic' art styles that look either good or bad.

DAI's art looks really bad but it's not because it's stylized.

I think you should explain this a bit further. Most new videos I seen has shown some slight improvements in presentation. they create a interesting World enough, even if I think they could be a bit more creative as they create a fantasy world. I could in one hour come up with more fantastical landscapes/buildings.
Uhm,yes?I wasn't praising DAI's art.
I simply said that I agree DAI's art is bad but I don't think it's because it's not realistic(PST or Pimordia aren't realistic either but their art is good).

No one should bash them for this because that's about as well as any RPG has ever done it.

No one should have thought much of their claim for "40 endings!!!11". Has everyone forgotten Bethesda's 200 Fallout 3 ending spiel?

No, art style is good, cartoony wow-like is bad. I don't think we've had "realistic" in a long time, either. It's cartoony-wow that's overused because it's simpler to make and appeals to retards like wymen.

I don't play MMOs and I feel like the WoW look is pretty rare in other genres. There was Dragon Age 2, Borderlands and... umm... any others?

Dishonored and now Dragon Age 3 use a more exaggerated and colorful take on pretty standard graphical styles.

You're an idiot. "Not cartoony" =! grimdark. Tell me the sunflowers and fields in the recent TW3 footage are grimdark, I dare you. Tell me the forest trees gently moving in the wind are grimdark.

"Realistic" then, or whatever other term you want to use to describe "oh my god art design kill it with fire!!!" It's fucking boring.

I actually don't really like grimdark. The Witcher 3 isn't Grimdark, but it looks great. The art style in Bioware: Infinite is good too IMO, even though it is bright and vivid as fuck.

I think the art style in Dishonored is shit too and it world look like shit even if it was grimdark. Same goes for DA:I.

You didn't like the art style of Dishonored? Damn, man, that game is beautiful.

What I'm getting here is the same as Storyfag above. You don't like stylized designs that sacrifice some realism for interesting design. You call it "cartoony" because you associate exaggerated design with "kid's stuff" for whatever reason. I couldn't disagree with you more, and I think you're the reason most games look boring as fuck.
Exaggerated elements don't look bad but DA2 and 3 are downright cartoony, there's a difference. The marine in StarCraft is exaggerated in the right way, imo.

how is that cartoony?
i mean she has face like a tranny but it doesnt look like a fucking WoW

You're right, meanwhileInPoland this doesn't look cartoony. It looks like shit, though. Nice water. Shitty characters. How do they not notice the missing shadows in the face? Like under the helmet or the hair..it looks so goddamn plastic. But not cartoony, yeah.

She'll probably be Viconia 3.0 / Morrigan 2.0: an icy, manipulative bitch that totally doesn't love you but doesn't want you to even look at anyone else, as if she were a character from a high school anime.

It's not how game will probably look like - videos don't look as good as this. Wait until they downgrade all textures for consoles or somethin.

And trees growing from all the random places like a river still get me. But maybe they are special trees, or the area is flooded.
As for style itself, there are things that look fine, "mundane fantasy", but then there are things like that soldier with two battleships for a helmet and sword of impracticality +1 as well. So it's hard to say yet if Bio struck a fine balance between two styles or it will be full of things to just laugh at.

Yeah Jesus Christ. Brilliant idea to merge Felicia Day's ratface with DA2 graphics. Scarred for life from just seeing promotional material

Bro, read the thread of thought/posts. If it is just your opinion, okay, I just asked if you could motivate it or explain a bit further.

I was scrolling up the page and saw this. I scrolled up to the body and was like. "Not bad." and then I got to the face... :?

I might be in a minority in this, but I am glad to see not everyone is some high cheeck boned model look-alike. And I would in fact see it as something positive if people dont see every character as someone really attractive. I kind of attribute to immersion IMO. As long as they dont have the previous Bethesda faces, those were scary.

Are all women ugly in this game
Yes, not sure if it's a side effect of the game being designed and written by women for women or if they want realism like when they gave everyone rotten teeth in DA:O or if it is meant to be progressive. Maybe it's just incompetent modellers though but I'm sure they will say it's intentional if asked. The men doesn't look quite as bad though, I wonder why.

Oh, and I found an ingame rendering of the Morrigan not sure if it has been posted before, it probably has but since we're talking ugly:

Sure, but this is fan panderer #1 Bioware you're talking about. I'd appreciate this in a game with a grittier and more realistic tone like say the Witcher 3. In a Dragon Age game that's written like a teen high fantasy novel the main characters being butt ugly clashes tonally with that. In the silly dumb escapism fantasies that Bioware writes I can't see a companion being written with any negative physical traits in a good way. If you make one of them fat for example the issue will either be ignored or treated farcically, there's just no way it will end well.
