TBH this feels more like Mass Effect with a fantasy coat.

Fantasy Andromeda seems an apt comparison, with even more bullshit

---bbut you guys it's not open world, there are no stupid MMO quests!

Yeah, like ranking up vendors and shit

Ranking up vendors is part of a much larger problem the game has, leftover mechanics from live-service version. Once EA changed its mind in 2021, they didnt have time or the workforce to make any changes to the core mechanics. Enemies dont drop loot and from videos they have shown quests also dont reward stuff, but there are chests around the maps that glow yellow very brightly that can be easily seen from a distance that gives stuff and vendors that sell "unique" items(unqiue only because they couldnt put those items anywhere else).

We'll get a bunch of 7/10s and maybe even 9/10s from the mainstream journos because the "industry" really needs a win at this point. They're already putting out headlines like "BioWare back in form" like they know what the hell they're talking about.

The real reviews will be the nonstop cringe compilations on youtube.

7 or 9/10s?! I hope not, I have my hopes up that it will live up to Starfield

iu

That's a really nice, cinematic list telling you who to unsubscribe from.

Slightly off topic, but I just realized that one of the voice actors for Rook is Bryony Corrigan from The Goes Wrong Show, which is hilarious if you like somewhat goofy/offbeat comedy. You can normally get at least the first season (of two) free on Amazon or one of a few free streaming services.

Normally I'd be excited for an actress from a niche show I like getting a VA role in a "major" release like this, but at this point all I can do is hope she got paid up front...

As far as I can tell there is no third person shooter aiming, so Fantasy Andromeda doesn’t seem like a good comparison. The combat in this game just looks like they’re copying Final Fantasy 7 Remake; only the combat animations aren’t as good, you can’t switch characters, I’m not sure if you have anything like the synergy attacks, and you don’t have the menu system that gives you access to all your attacks and items.

I was thinking there was third person shooter aiming at first, and you can aim your lock-on when you have the combat paused, but ranged combat just seems to be the lock-on system.

I haven't played the FFVII remake but Busche has said that the progression system is heavily influenced by FFXII and FFX is an all time favourite so it would make sense if Bioware also lifted the combat from a Final Fantasy game since Busche is apparently a megafan. It's one of the many things in their baffling series of 'promotional' articles and videos that completely turned me off the game since I can't really stomach the series after IX.

I draw this impression from the marvel writing style and things like weird facial animation.

Combat gameplay was the only good part in Andromeda, but it doesn't work the same way when you need to swing swords in cramped environments.

Bruce defending Bioware/Israel/Ukraine etc.

Ukraine x Russia is something which the Codex is divided. But there is ANYONE here who defends Bioware and Drag age Failguard? Hell, even reddit is not liking this dumpsterfire of a game. I think that only in retardera people have positive view of this game.

Either way, I hope that BioWare goes bankrupt after this game. Or even better continue to suck Electronic Farts money to give more funny cringe compilation videos.

Thing is the combat and the gameplay looks nothing like any of those games. FFX is purely turnbased (not even ATB) and you can change party members on the fly during the battle. FFXII is more "action", but you can program any of the party members and change them midfight on the fly as long as they're not under direct attack.

FFVII Remake/Rebirth are somewhat closer, but still poles apart from what Failguard offers - you have action gameplay, but it still is menu based if you like and you can control any party member in your current team. Party members have unique synergies between themselves and you can have synergy even with a party member who is not in your current team if needed. Your party members also do full damage and can be downed in battle - whereas in Failguard they don't do any meaningful damage and can't be downed. In a way they behave like non current team members in FFVIIR.

I'm not a fan of action gameplay, but still I found FFVIIR's combat quite decent and satisfying. Things they showed in Failguard looked like poor man's Mass Effect and that's it..

They tried to make ff7 play like 15 and it flopped. 15 wasn't a very good game. Veilguard suffers from being born as a GoW2018 style action game, then a hero mp game, then the thing we have today. And Inquisition also started its life as an MMO.

I mean, I fucking loved Dragon Age. I loved it so much I even put up with Inquisition. But this abomination, geezus fucking christ!
I only loved the first one. The other 2 only pushed me away. Especially the third one.
Squandered potential for an interesting world and lore.
I really suggest you to play tabletop Dragon Age, it was made when only first game was out and it is made in its spirit, dark and thick as fuck atmosphere with rays of hope, lethality, blood and magic causing shit along with additional lore.

I found and still find DAO to be one of the worst representant of the prestigious party-based hack n slash genre. I feel less contempt towards Bethesda games to be quite honest.

Actually DAO and Mass Effect 2 gotta be the most prominent cases of the ~2005-2015 shitfest.

“The game contains some sexual material: characters kissing, moaning, and straddling each other; characters caressing each other while in their underwear; dialogue referencing sex (e.g., "Think about us having sex”; “Are you trying to have sex with me?"). Characters are sometimes depicted topless for prolonged periods of time (e.g., character customization) and/or during love scenes. The word “f**k” appears in the game.”

That's how you know it's a girls game. They get to have a full romance but only have to go to 1st or max 2nd base for it.
