I dunno, the discourse on the net around Veilguard is exactly the same as it was around Concord before release - relentless shitting and memeing.

I'm not sure it bodes well for its financial success

The current shitposting definitely is a "return to form" to old days of TORtanic shitposting. I am proud of you all!

Just anti-fandom and kulturkampf, perhaps. The moment people started saying "I wish X fails, I would have more fun mocking it if it failed than playing it if its good" is the moment an industry evolved around saying everything sucks and everything is shit.

That said, I have no doubt that Veilguard will not live up to expectations, will be declared worse than the previous Dragon Age games (probably by me too, if I even play it), and will generally be remembered as a generic action game stitched to a tumblr visual novel, in a way nobody wants or likes. But it will outsell Concord, 1001% sure of that. It looks like its set to sell millions in the next few months. Just, you know, not enough millions.

Concord didnt have a large fanbase propping the game up nor was it from a known and 'beloved' studio (Bioware's name still carries quite a bit of weight among normies)

I've said many times before the game won't flop, and today we'll see that I was right.
It will do even better on consoles, given its a gamepad centered game, with neo God of War type combat.
But it will flop, because having Bioware and Dragon Age on the cover sets the bar pretty high, reasonably or not. It will just flop how Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire flopped, not how Concord flopped.

It could be that they're paying steam to up the rankings. I don't have anything concrete of course, but it is weird, high rankings in every region where the game can be bought is strange.
How's it doing in Saudi Arabia, or one of those countries?
