The reeetards are finally finding out it's not going so well for Wokeguard.

https://www.resetera.com/threads/ch...2-and-nearly-21-below-ff-vii-rebirth.1040778/

Dragon Age: The Veilguard was the seventh best-selling game across Europe in October. It's not the biggest launch, however. Compared with other recent RPGs, first week sales were over 18% lower than Dragon's Dogma 2 and nearly 21% below Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth

I think word of mouth at launch was terrible due to you know what and also EA's own controversial handling of review codes, but I feel like the conversation is turning around to the positive a bit after people actually got to play it more.

But that's just an impression of someone who's too online and from within the enthusiast bubble. I have yet to buy it myself but plan to do so within the next weeks/months.
Reception has been pretty positive overall so hopefully it ends up having good legs. It's personally my GOTY and it isn't particularly close.
Hopefully the game has legs because it is fantastic and fun time. Maybe my second favourite this year. I would love to see it do well and see more of it.

Devastatingly disappointing game, but God I hope it's a sales success. I need BioWare to keep going, and an eventual return-to-form DA5, even if it takes another ten years.
RETVRN TO FORM

Sad to see. Now the chuds are gonna celebrate another victory for "Go woke, go broke," and Dragon Age might be killed off for good. It's sad for BioWare, too. All of these western RPGs are selling insane numbers, and yet one of the pioneers of the genre doesn't have the brand recognition to outsell Dragon's Dogma.
We will. I know you're reading this.

Yeah it's a crazy competitive field. In the broader RPG genre you have stuff like Elden Ring on the action side and Witcher 3 and Baldur's Gate 3 on the RPG side. How do you compete with that?
Witcher came out nine years ago, Veilguard was competing with a nine year old game.

The industry is not in a good state for ambitious single player games. Yes, some SP games break through, but so many quality games don't. It's pretty sad and concerning.
I genuinely want to hear they/them on what do they/them think is so ambitious about Veilguard

I mean, if Veilguard numbers really are that bad, there's plenty to celebrate lately - Outlaws, Forspoken, Concord, the Marvels, the Acolyte, I can't think of any victories from the woke side lately.

DON'T YOU DARE CELEBRATE THIS NEWS CHUDS!

Is interesting how (s)he(idk what pronoun to use), mentions "brand recognition". Is almost as if everyone knows that this game is shit and 99.9+% of sales is only for Brand recognition.

I can't think of any victories from the woke side lately.

BG3. But BG3 was first made as a good game and later added a lot of woke stuff into it. Compare EA char creation with current char creation...

BioWare is probably going to close. I'd say February of next year.
In fact, I'm guessing here but I bet you they already know it is going to close, and they are going to do it in February in the middle of winter, before the close of Q1 but after the end of the 2024 CY, after all the beans are counted. Possibly they will just get rid of the Dragon Age team and keep Mass Effect going, but I can also see them spinning ME out into a new team, or just pulling the plug altogether. Things are going to get tight. This has been a bad year for a lot of different game companies.

There's no way they'll close Bioware when Mass Effect, their big flagship franchise, is being made. They'll just shut down one particular branch, like they've shut down Bioware Austin with Andromeda.

I'm not so sure. I could see them pulling the plug on everything. It's entirely possible they have lost faith in the entire BioWare team.

I hope I am wrong because I would like to see a new ME game that is not a pile of shit. But I wouldn't be surprised if they cut their losses and dropped the whole thing.

Going to watch Yahtzee now...

>Didn't mention Taash
>Didn't mention a single one of the cringe scene
>Didn't mention the trans mirror

Yahtzee lost his touch. What a complete waste of time.

Someone of his political inclination can't really start joking about trans people. At least not openly: at one point you saw Shrek when he talked about the party.

Plus, his point was that the game's pretty terrible even without all of that stuff.

Pretty sure that guy was never going to mention any of the third-rail culture war shit. To my recollection, he never has. He's a typical British lib, and he lives in California. He's not going to criticize anything trans.

This was Veilguard's target audience, Inquisition fans who came for gay sex with qunari. They've hated the originals. Hideous displays.
I dont have the will to read the retardera thread again but there was a comment saying something akin to 'Origins being too edgy and that Bioware unfortunately never managed to shed the franchise's dark fantasy roots'. Origins being edgy/dark fantasy was pretty much the only good thing it had going for it imo, its no surprise that as Bioware itself was sanitized they also cut back on their franchises and they became safer and uninteresting.

Dark fantasy was part of the identity of the entire pitch and setting. It's literally the only raison d'etre of the franchise ffs. What a retard.

Just play Kingdoms of Amalur ffs.
