Ah, yes. Sten. When Qunari were great.
Qunari were better when they were a mysterious people with completely alien and strange cultural practices.
You had only Sten to tell you about them.
Qunari were better before DAO.

There was less than ten years between Baldur's Gate 2 and Mass Effect 2 -- a span in which they released almost one game per year, and some of them very ambitious. Over the past ten years we've gotten... uhh... Dragon Age III (actually a little bit more than ten years old right now), Andromeda, Anthem, and Veilguard. A real shit-tier lineup. (And all of them on Frostbite. :argh:) If the guys running the show at Bioware really give a damn about efficiency, they're completely inept and retarded. Their glaring incompetence should qualify them for MAID, and Canada should just put them out of their misery.

They cancelled DA4 twice because EA told them to switch directions. That's a whole other retarded thing that comes from EA not Bioware.

Efficiency doesn't mean they produce games faster. It just means they cut costs. For example writing and narrative branching is expensive so they've minimized all that. With Veilguard they're moving to a model of developing the gameplay first and then "pouring writing on it". This is how games where the story is the least important element get made. The cost is reduced because there's no back and forth between writers and coders, and very little redoing things. In RPGs there's typically a lot of redoing because dialogues get rewritten, the story changes, etc. A writer might want to make a character fly in just one scene, so the coders have to go spend extra time on making that possible. This is what they consider "inefficient".

It's totally opposite. Price of making a pile of turd that now takes 10y on average has skyrocketed.

Gaming industry is become same as Hollywood just a money laundering scheme.

Because there is no logic in all this crap costing so much when it looks and plays inferior to older games. Where's the money Lebowski? I doubt it all went on Kotaku 10/10 GOTY of all times review they give to every game that comes out lol

Competent people with medium studio and proper efficient management could make AAAAAAAAA+ game that would blow these freaks out of the water in 3-5y top and that's without crunch.

Obviously the "efficiency" they were chasing is not really efficient if they lose money. It's just the thinking process and justification for it when they are making decisions.

Firing 50 veteran writers last year was incredibly stupid for Bioware, especially now that we see how much Veilguard is lacking in writing compared to old school Bioware. According to the EA manager Gary McKay, they did it because they wanted a "lean" team in order to "focus". So the excuse is always efficiency. When most tech stocks were slipping, those tech companies that were laying off workers hired after Covid managed to even gain value, so "cutting cost" became a mandate from shareholders. Whether it really makes sense or not long-term is not their concern.

This is a very typical case of a successful company started by technical people, taken over by "business" types with MBAs, and then run into the ground slowly as they suck the blood out and apply make-up for the stock market instead. Same sort of thing that's happening at Boeing for example.

Surely Bioware fan number #1 Morgoth must have played through this game by now. I really want to know his honest opinion about it.

That clip with that whiny horned child who wants to be hip and cool by being "non-binary" makes me want to hurl. That is a 3 year old whining at her mom "What can't I have thaaaaaattttt!!!!" and you are supposed to take the kid seriously and let her help you save the world? Hell, that manchild Alistair was bad enough, but this one is 100 times worse. Alistair makes me give him the worst possible ending for him every single time just because of his whines. There is no way I will subject my sanity to this one.

All codexers vowed not to play the game but i can see hypocrites still playing this shit
I bought Dragon Quest 3 instead and still haven't played Veilguard. I was tempted if the combat difficulty wasn't anything more than HP bloat but sadly it seems it is.
I also hope Bioware gets shuttered before they can resurrect Commander Shepherd and use ME4 as a vehicle to lecture him about his toxic masculinity and racism.

That character is even worse - it is a complete and utter self-insert of someone who has 100% mommy & daddy issues. The relationship between tRaash and hEr mother is abysmal - tRaash pouts and frowns whenever her mother says something that he/she/it isn't okay with - that is 90% of the time. Then everytime the topic of her childhood and her mothers interest in her peoples history comes up tRaash cannot stop being an ingnorant asshole.

Also, the mother is also an caricature of an parent who ALWAYS knows better then the child.

And in an very ironic way the behavior of both tRaash and her mother is written kind of realistc; it is an almost uncanny genuine description of an very toxic child-mother relationship that both parties participate in without being able to break out of it. But that, my dear fellow codexers, is the only positive thing I'll say about THAT shipwreck of a character. And game.

Edit: And before skinwalker uptades his list: I'm only wathing an youtube let's play for fun, shits and giggles, so no worries.

Is the game "just" shit with shit writing? I haven't seen any hilarious bug compilations that normally show up for this kind of crap, just awful writing and awful game mechanics.
The most boring popamole goyslop combat imaginable doesn't have to be bugged to be pure SHIT.
This game is purely made for trannies because whamans don't like combat, especially not tedious HP sponge combat

Womyn in MMORPGs tend to be mostly healers.

Enemies don’t actually have bloated HP, though. It’s more like The Witcher 3, you can encounter mini-bosses that are double your level. If you come back later at the right level, you can take them down in 10 seconds. Otherwise, enjoy spending 10 minutes chipping away at them.

Regarding women playing MMORPGs and video games in general there was a survey in 2017 which indicated that women made up just over a third of fantasy MMO players, which I don't think sounds too far off for fantasy specifically (for sci-fi MMOs it's less than a fifth, which also sounds about right). There's also an interesting presentation focusing on WOW specifically that goes into more detail on gender and sexuality and apparently 36% of the respondents to their survey were female and they explicitly separated transsexuals so it's probably not being bumped up by them (also more than 20% of WoW players are bisexual apparently, which isn't relevant to the convo but seems strangely high).

It would be interesting to see the gender breakdown for Veilguard if that ever gets surveyed, Inquisition was apparently 52/48 M/F.
