Every romance-affirming line Rook makes reads exactly the same. They're variations of "I'm here for you / you're interesting / you're a really fun person / I couldn't do this without your help / I care about you more than you realise". Even AI girfriends have more interesting things to say to keep you hooked. The lines he actually speaks are more flowery, but the basic intent is the same. Rook is a vending machine that gives party members cliched compliments.

And Rook takes that annoying heroic pose with the arms on his sides in nearly every conversation when he says something positive or "humorous". I get that everyone has a very limited number of poses here outside of cutscenes, but that little feature just makes Rook seem even more like the unbearable milquetoast hero caricature. Christ, what an abomination of a main character. He has no personality beyond that of your supportive but professionally distant therapist.

Now onwards to the next one...

Now that you're smitten, suck my weewee pls, but make sure to fade the screen to black beforehand

I can see this is getting off to a good start.

Larian would've given you an Alice Cooper or Herbert West necromancer who declares he loves the dead, and not in the platonic sense either. Not this gay uncle who looks like a cheap, aged John Waters/Vincent Price knockoff. Edge is always better than no edge.

Update:

Got to the point where they stroll the graveyard and smell some flowers. Not kidding. When they're on a date there's an option to discuss what's your favorite color. The romance concludes in a scene where you have sex in a coffin. All in all this romance doesn't seem as insipid as Bellara's thanks to it all resting on Emmrich's refined dialogue and the way these two characters react to their surroundings. It still follows the same predictable structure as all others, I presume. Mild compliments -> flirting -> heavier-handed flirting -> a "date" -> fade-to-black sex after Rook returns from the fade -> pillow-talk -> final prep talk before the battle. No more dark ritual after having painfully ended your romance with Morrigan. No romantic rivalry between party members.

Morrigan has this kind of GILF energy going on, she was always flat so can't really criticise the design on that front this time. I think her outfit is fine. And unlike all the female NPCs in Inquisition, she actually has a kind of feminine energy about her, like the way she stands.

"Ol' Morrigan Four Tits, yep, that is what the lads used to call her! You see she was part dragon so decided to start growing that second pair of tits to better identify with her dragon heritage..."

Nigga please... what lefty neckbeard thought that just copying the halter top lower was a good look? Someone who is afraid of female mid-riff and has no idea what looks good on women.

I have written a song about this game, do you like it?

We’re peaking today, back on the stage,
Reviving the spirit of Dragon Age.
Through the Veil with the Veilguard, ready to fight,
Guided by Inquisition's unyielding light.

Return to form, like in Origins’ past,
A hero’s tale, built to last.
Through darkness and danger, we rise once more,
Fighting the battles we’ve fought before.

With Dragon Age fire and tales untold,
The Veilguard stands, proud and bold.
A new age dawns, legends begin,
Return to form as we rise again.

I played Inquisition when it came out, it was and still is one of the shittiest games ever created
Shut the fuck up. We will defeat the chuds with the power of friendship and most importantly singing.

Lifted entirely from LOTR: Return of the King when Pippin is singing Edge of Night during Faramir's ill-fated charge. So 100% derivative even then, except that the scene in ROTK was very powerful because the filmmaker understood when, where, and how to use that type of scene.
