Does this have to do with the bandit chief maul?
It's an option in multiple quests, including that one. Maul isn't the one you betray in that quest though. It's not an explicit option, rather it's something kinda obvious that you'd expect the game wouldn't let you try.

The other vocations should be unlocked once you reach level 10 (character level, not vocation level.) You can change at an inn.
Does anyone enjoy any other class other than Assasin?
I actually never cared for assasin much. Magic Archer has a ton of cool shit and is super versatile, though the magick bows are a bit rare so you can end it falling behind enemy magic defense levels if you don't get lucky or have meta knowledge of the items. And Sorc has all the coolest shit endgame, like instant death magic and meteor swarms and shit. The mechanics of spells are kinda wonky though, due to how hybrid damage works.

Wondering what other stuff they've got in the works? Especially since all their stuff now is going to be in-house in Japan.
obviously RE8 and REmake 3.

I dont see any reason for a remake of RE3. They already did Nemesis with this last one, and if you make the dodge better you're basically just going to end up at RE6...which would be a funny turn of events. Also 3 wasn't as big as either of the first two, or the ones after it. I think if RE6 is basically what they'd end up with they may as well just do some RE8. But who knows, maybe they do do it. There seems to be a market for it I guess so they probably do. If they do it though I'm guessing it's going to get some radical changes to differentiate it from REmake 2. I could see it becoming a lot more open, like a bigger version of the village in RE4 where you can jump in and out of building and block windows and doors. Ok, I guess I'm talking myself into a RE3 remake.

I'm sure RE8 is happening, but I wonder who's doing it? I doubt it's the 7 people, despite the acclaim it got, it also sold less than 5 and 6...pretty sure it sold less than REmake 2 too. Funnily enough the RE7 thing I heard the best stuff about was the really action oriented End of Zoe DLC. It also sounded like the REmake2 guys wanted to do something else, (or at least one of them) so if they were allowed it's probably not them. But they've likely got someone doing RE8. Wouldn't be too surprised if they've got another Marvel Vs Capcom coming in RE engine too. It'd be nice if the Japanese side of things actually did a Dead Rising, and it'd sure as hell be interesting to see that in the RE Engine.

I'm kind of surprised with two Jurassic World movies that have made over a billion bucks each that they still haven't brought Dino Crisis back. Maybe they're working on a new one of those.

RE3make was already semi-leaked by a guy on REEEEEEEE Era who was historically spot on with RE7 and RE2 shit. He hinted it's going to be outsourced.

I have a suspicion it's outsourced to Platinum.

I have a suspicion it's outsourced to some western shit developer, and they will ruin it.

I stumbled upon one dungeon called the water gods alter and it was pretty good but I couldn't complete it because there's a locked door with an incision.
The Water God's Altar is a semi-optional part of the main quest. I assume you've entered Gran Soren, but did you complete the Everfall quest yet? Note that completion of this quest
will prevent you from finishing the Quina/Witchwood/Selene quest, if you haven't already done so.
You might want to consult a quest list dividing the game into seven stages, which will assist you in avoiding premature quest terminations while limiting spoilers.

The pawns are a mixed bag. I've realized that you have to keep switching pawns because they don't level up. I was a level 12 at the time and my shitty level 6 pawns kept dying.
Luckily pawns your level or lower don't cost a thing to recruit so I didn't mind. My big problem with the pawn system is lack of control.

Even if I sit in the chair and answer the questions for what my pawn should be like, it still doesn't perform as well as I like. I want my dumbass mage to always hang back away from the enemy but that doesn't always happen and she keeps getting damaged. I'd like the recruited pawns to use the healing herbs I give them but that never happens at all.
For pawn management, it's essential to understand pawn inclination, which is poorly explained in the game. Note that even though the pawn information only displays the primary and secondary inclinations, it appears that the invisible tertiary inclination also affects pawn behavior. Fortunately, you can easily set all three inclinations for your Main Pawn by buying 2 potions of each desired inclination at the merchant in the Encampment (he appears by the rift stone there once you pass a certain, early point in the main quest). From your inventory, simply use both potions of whatever you want to be the tertiary inclination, followed by both of whatever you want to be the secondary inclination, and then both of whatever you want to be the primary inclination. For a mage, you probably want utilitarian, scather/mitigator/challenger, medicant. Also, there's a mod to help you obtain support pawns of the desired primary and secondary inclinations.

I'd suggest playing the game blind instead of playing it like a checklist. The game is massive, if you try to do everything, you'll get overlevelled and bored. If you wander around and go to places that seem interesting, you'll discover interesting stuff and be pleasantly surprised.

Don't obssess too much over pawn inclinations. You could spend weeks trying to tune their behaviour. Using the potions is a good idea if your pawn is really fucked up somehow, but don't get your hopes up. regardless of their inclinations, they'll probably still do derpy shit like mages climbing on monsters or warriors fetching wounded bodies back to you while you're trying to channel a spell. Much of their behaviour is based on imitating things you do, and you realistically can't fight properly without fucking up your pawn a bit.

Yeah the game throws too many cyclops at the player. I've beat 10 now. The Chimera too keeps respawning at the same place. I stumbled upon a dragon and it kicked my ass even though I'm level 23. I found the weakpoint on its chest but it still takes little damage, at best I only damaged 20% of just one health bar of 6 health bars. So shit. I need new weapons, but Gran Soren isn't selling new shit and I have looted most places in the game and they don't have good shit.

I haven't. I've actually just been exploring the world. Looking at the world map, I've covered about 80% of it. There are some woods with a freaky old woman that I haven't gone to yet because I did that in my first try of the game. I just went back to Gran Soren and got the everfall quest but haven't started it.

Well, eventually you just gotta proceed with the main quest since the store inventory is tied to that for the most part. The game doesn't exactly have strong itemization, they're usually just stat sticks with a different skin with the exception of a few rare weapons that have elements attached. Honestly once Gran Soren's store is tapped, the only gear left is the odd unique weapon (usually as a quest reward), post-game gear, or Bitterblack Island gear. BBI outstrips almost everything in the main game so you might as well put that in the post-game category too

Frankly, you should complete the Quina/Witchwood quest, but then move along with the Everfall quest and the next steps of the main quest. Shop inventory advances with each stage (of 7) and more side-quests become available; also, you must have been exploring some areas to which you'll soon be sent as part of the main series of quests. Dragon's Dogma is only superficially Open World.

The world in general is tied to the main questline progress. Unrelated stuff will open up, new monsters will appear, etc. Think of it as the main questline progressing the timeline.

that sucks, but I have found the DLC store guy. It's over because I now have like 15 - 20 quests so I'll get enough money to buy these DLC weapons.

Get 4 Skeleton Keys head to the Northeast Corner of the Map, you'll find tons of cool shit.

Gift 2 or 3 Foreign Knives to Ser Berne in The Encampment. It'll get him to like you enough that it'll open up an Escort Quest that nets you a Great Sword that will last you 'till the end of the game. Dude's also fucking roided out, it's more like him escorting your piddly ass through the woods.

See I couldn't get on with the magic archer. I prefer melee combat, and it just felt like a less fun version of the assasin.

I never got really far with Sorc, I just found them really slow & boring.

One of the things I like about DD is that it gives you a lot of freedom to choose the terms in which you go about things. Sure, you can play it like a quest-based RPG and just do the side quests and main quest.

However, after you hit Grand Soren and do a couple of quests there you also have the choice of going full murderhobo and just conduct independent expeditions where you just kill stuff, loot, and level up. IIRC you can clear up most of the main overworld's fog of war in this way, and even though there are a couple of quest-gated areas nothing stops you from delving its dungeons and reaching its extremities like the Blue Moon Tower, the Greatwall encampment, or Conqueror's Sanctuary except the strength of the enemies.

The inventory may be an issue, since IIRC you have to advance on the story missions to unlock better wares, but in my experience at least you can usually find enough good loot through exploration to avoid being severely undergeared. I also recall getting better loot in the dungeon areas than in other parts, though I am not entirely sure their loot tables are actually designed to have better stuff. Upgrading and keeping your pawns up with your level also helps.

It's not like the game is too hard in any case and you don't really need to obsess over this. You can always take a "mixed" approach and do some free exploration between the questing, indeed that is probably the optimal approach. I would, however, recommend you do the forest girl's quest as soon as you have the chance, as it is possible to miss it for the rest of the playthrough.

Proper character building helps a lot with survivability. It's always a good idea to get some levels in a class that has good HP gains, like Fighter, for example.

Wasted a lot of time with an escort quest just to get next to the place and the quest just fails.

I'm already tired of the wolves/bandits now. The wolves especially, they come in large packs of a dozen or greater constantly attacking and fleeing elongating a fight.

things didn't pan out for getting DLC weapons. I got side tracked and explored the north of Gran Soren because I was tired of looking for Jaspar and he didn't spawn.

I switched to the assassin class. The bow is somewhat useful but the double jump and rolling is better than the fighter, and I kept most of my armor and can still use swords.

I killed more trash mobs until I stumbled upon Soulflayer Canyon. The dungeons in DD can be linear but they tend to have good traps, bosses and atmosphere. Putting a cyclops on the bridge with the threat of instant death from falling is different from the usual forest encounter.

The mine near gran soren was my first encounter with an ogre. They're pretty much a smaller more agile cyclops that can block. This was one of the better dungeons just due to the variety of standing on the plates to activate different cages.

I made it to an encampment north that the dragon is near according to one of my pawns. The guy with a store had good new weapons and armor.

Fair warning; when you finally get around to doing the main quest you're going to steamroll it and be backtracking to a lot of areas you've seen before. I'd still recommend doing so since it'll unlock some new areas and monsters and sidequests though.

And definitely don't stop playing before trying out BBI, it's an entirely different animal from the rest of the game and very fun to crawl through.

Haha, you'rr playing the same way I did, trying to kill all the strongest stuff before I'm supposed to. Good luck with the drake, he's a bastard without certain kinds of cheesy strats or better gear/skills.

There was a cool flying wizard that summoned undead. I've been looking more closely into what abilities other pawns have before I get them. I got a sorcerer that has a meteor spell. This shit pretty much kills cyclops, chimera and the wizard but for whatever reason the pawn always takes his time before using it, usually waiting till the enemy is almost dead.

Why don't enemies have interaction with each other and the world around them?

Game isn't really finished. I'd imagine monsters eating bandits was on the to do list but got cut.

Yeah pawns are retards. Especially sorcerors. I put up with them sometimes to quad cast some crazy shit, but generally you're better off with support spells and a melee pawn that likes to grapple shit.

Or just play the best class and use your pawns as living ammunition for an unholy death cannon

Because the game isn't perfect after all.

By the way, once shit starts to become kinda easy, which will happen sooner or later, consider playing with your main pawn only (or even solo).

There are some cool spell combos between my pawns. My main pawn is a mage, the 2nd one a sorcerer. The main pawn casts a spell that surrounds her with projectiles that will attack anything that comes close. The sorcerer casts a spell that covers our weapons with fire and covers her spell with fire too, so it's like an ice fire homing missile.

By the way, once shit starts to become kinda easy, which will happen sooner or later, consider playing with your main pawn only (or even solo).
It's easy now minus the drake but I prefer having the pawns around and extra damage. To my understanding xp isn't split at all and I stopped giving pawns gear because they can't use it anyway. They're good for holding heavy items so that I don't constantly have to go back to a town. Doing things this was, I've heavily cut down on inventory management and switch pawns as I level.
