Isn't Elden Rings combat similar to Dark Souls? Because Dark Souls had like fundamentally different combat to Dragon's Dogma. Exploration might be similar, (although if it's like this one there will be towns with NPCs) but I'd probably look more at things the Devil May Cry games do (like style changes) when it comes to things a Dragon's Dogma 2 might do.

I do kind of wonder if DD2 might add that menu system from the Final Fantasy 7 remake to allow you to do more than the hot key system allows, and to quickly use items. It might be interesting if you had to use items in combat during the action as opposed to the safety of the inventory screen. The way FF7R implemented a kind of classic RPG menu system into action combat was so clever, I've got to imagine other developers were kind of kicking themselves for not doing it first. It's the kind of thing that seems so obvious you wonder why it took this long for it show up once you see it. It's also not like it would get in the way of having that hot key system; it'd just mean you could have a handful of moves at the ready, and then maybe you keep bigger moves you might not use as much in the menu. Could see team up moves and attacks becoming more of a thing in the sequel too.

I'd image it probably ends up having environmental damage. One of the cooler looking things in DMC5 was the boss fight with Goliath where building are coming down, and things are being destroyed. I could see things like ruins around in the environment being destroyed by large enemies, or some powerful attacks you have.

Yes, but Elden Ring added jump so there are jump attacks and such now. Between that and more variety in weapon skills, it feels a lot closer to DD than you might think.

After finishing up Elden Ring I'm mostly just left with a longing for DD2. I really hope we get some news soon.

Unless there's some leak in the meantime it's probably summer at the earliest when we'll hear about Dragon's Dogma 2. Maybe The Game Awards at the end of the year at the latest unless setbacks pushed it all the way back into 2024...which seems a little unlikely given the original date was second quarter of this year.

Maybe they'll have like a digital version of Captivate around E3 time, or maybe they'll just show up at someone else's event. But you look at the leak, and unless a bunch of stuff got cancelled, they should have a pretty full plate of stuff to show off that'll probably be coming next year.

We know there's more Street Fighter 6 stuff coming this summer. And unless there's just no nothing similar to E3 happening in like June, I'd expect it to show up before EVO. Pragmata got pushed back to next year; I'm sure they'll show it off more before it comes out in 2023, and E3 time seems like the best time to do that. The RE4 remake was listed as originally coming at the end of this year, so maybe that'll come late next year or early 2024, but that seems like something they could give a look at if its only that far off. There's something called Mega Man Match that was originally set for a Q3 release this year. Something code named Shield (apparently a multiplayer shooter) which they were looking to release in 2021...as far as I know there's been no information about what's going on with this game. Also something called Shield G for '22; maybe the 2021 date was a demo and the finished game was going to come out this year? No idea what the "G" is meant to mean. But Capcom basically seems to have, counting Dragon's Dogma 2, 7 games they could show off this summer that could be coming out throughout 2023 and I guess 2024 because that's a lot to release in one year. The other big thing is a new Onimusha game. There's also two things listed as "Indies 2," one as port, which I'm guessing is the Capcom Fighting Collection. But Capcom has enough upcoming stuff to have their own little Capcom Direct showcase this summer.

I remember when the original game flopped and Capcom was fucking mad about it so a year later they released the dark arisen expansion which came with the original game included which sold barely better, the game gained gained recognition with the mouth to mouth and being constantly shilled on image boards, and i'm glad it did. I might play de PC version some day but there's plenty of good games i haven't played yet, so replaying something i spent hundreds if not a thousand hours playing back in the day doesn't seem worth it.

Getting a notification saying that LESS T_T had made a post in this thread gave me feelings of hope that faded all too soon.
One day it will be a real announcement :negative:

Is there any reason to continue after defeating the red dragon or does the game just continue so you can finish remaining quests?

There's still more plot. You'll definitely know when you hit the final ending.

If you've actually defeated the Dragon, then you must have viewed the cutscene pointing you towards
Gran Soren, where the main quest will continue when you visit the Duke in the castle.

I assume you aren't confusing the drake located in the forest south of the Shadow Fort with the actual Dragon. :M
