guys, i'm playing MK for the first time , but i think i'm missing something. i have tried the riposte skills ( well radiant one) and the demonspite, and they seem to do very little damage ( holy riposte) or take an absolutely too many hits to charge and do damage ( demonspite). Is that because my Matt is low? I tought all mk skills scaled from both str and magic , but maybe i was very wrong.
i do 4 times the damage of a holy riposte with few normal attacks or even more with basic sword skills

MK shield skills are basically all pure magic, as are some of their weapon skills. The stuff that looks more fightery tends to be strength driven. It's why people tend to either max magic or go balanced for MK.

yeah i wanted to go balanced MK . i guess it's time to level sorcerer, since i have started as fighter

Well the good news is most of your stats can come from gear as far as being effective is concerned, there's no real reason to min max.

There also used to be a pretty good wiki for the game if you want to see what skills level with what or figure out what to level for various stats or aptitudes since the stats change from level 1-10, then 11-100, then 101-200.

If I remember correctly, the holy parry itself doesn't do that much damage. But if you combo it with the MagicCannon you will shoot ludicrous amounts of bullets (and tank the fps if you try it on Ps3)

If you upgrade Demonspite to Demonswrath it will take less hits to fully charge it. Also, the higher the damage blocked the faster it charges. Demonswrath does decent damage and has very high knockdown power when you discharge it once the buff is full. Blessed Riposte doesn't have high base damage, but the three slow moving orbs generate a lot of stagger. Even large foes can barely move when they're being hit by those orbs.
There is also the attribute 'Boosts the power of normal and magick shields' that can be found on BBI gloves and it will considerably increase the damage dealt by perfect blocks and the shield riposte skills. However, the riposte skills(Blessed and Fire ripostes) truly shine when combined with Great Cannon. Try perfect blocking right in front of a Great Cannon and watch the bullet hell you just unleashed.

I dunno what to say. I'm about level 35+ on my MK, I have the Mage and Sorc augs, and I one shot every small enemy with a well timed riposte (so that it counters with the magic spell). From what I read MK scales with strength and magic, but primarily magic, and usually the strength portion comes from their weapon damage only while the magic is taken from their stat pool. I'm using Flame and Thunder Riposte.

And I gotta say, it's a lot of fun. Way more fun than I had the first time, but in my defense the MK was the very first character I played as in DD back in 2012 when it had just come out and no one knew anything about the mechanics. The riposte window is quite wide so even I can do it consistently. My only issue here is that with 3 pawns it makes it harder to counter because it tends to divide the enemy AI among the party. Thinking of maybe just dropping the pawns down to just my own to give me more countering opportunities. It's the same problem I have with trying to do a Lance counter in MH.

Summoner class is coming. I would expect it to be inspired in V from DMC V
Hopefully not. God damn that guy was absolute trash and boring to play as. Worst part of DMCV by a long mile.
Boring for an action game where the other playable characters have more depth and variety.

For a party based ARPG it should be great. Specially if they iterate on the prototype summoner that was V.

Not to mention, the alternative style of gameplay for that class is the creatures being AI controlled.
Like that would make it more fun...

I don't really get the hype for DD2. I found the first one to be quite average. Sure being able to climb on big monsters is cool but after you've done one cyclops you've done them all. Many of the quests were extremely repetitive (npc escort ones especially).

I also found the class system to be extremely limiting. I played mostly as the big sword class and there many situations were I couldn't do anything because my enemies were airborne. Lot of the combat felt slow because enemies have ridiculous health pools. In elden ring for example I could switch my gear on the fly if needed. I don't need hope my ai buddies aggro a griffin for me.

I think DD1 had some good ideas mixed with bad ones. If the game was 10 hours long the bad ideas wouldn't show up so easily but Dragon's Dogma is not a 10 hour game.

btw a huge issue. i was focused on learning and experimenting my class i didnt pay attention to my pawn. well it happened again, i didnt bother to read a guide and i fucked up, again. Now she does nothing during combat but picking flowers. I remember there were sonewhere in Gran soren potions to unfuck your pawn , but they were super expensiive

There's a table somewhere in the pawn guild where you can adjust your pawn's behaviour. I don't recall that costing anything at all, but to be fair it has been a while since I last played the game.

because it's a team play game. there are enemies that are supposed to require a team to take down, because one class may be unable to damage them ( for example enemies immune to magic or enemies immune to phisical damage). there is also a component of preparation for mission. if you prepare well ( remedies, potions, items, right build and pawns) you should have no issue.
Also YOU CAN switch gear on the fly. And unlike ER you can also switch build ( vocation) very easily.
It's a system much more flexible than Souls one

i clearly remember rare potions decresing pawn traits. maybe the chair effect is more bland. btw i need to check now
