Learned today that you can
use sleeping pots against the foreskin duo to set up attacks.

Tried out an arcane build to finish the bosses and stories I missed from playing the game blind first playthrough.

Man, i'm getting more co-op in this game than i did in all previous Souls games combined.

I get it's a new release and also the new multiplayer system makes everything super convenient but i'm wondering if normies are actually playing this game at all or brushing through all the content with summons and other cheese tactics.

Well it sold as much in 3 weeks as DS3 did in it's entire lifetime. It's really fucking popular

I mean to be blunt, if you AREN'T using summons, then you're just inflicting pain on yourself. Some of the summons are complete OP, sure, but there are absolutely bosses that seem to be simply designed around having more than 1 entity present for them to target, a 1 on 1 fight is just insanely painful (i.e. Radahn pre-nerf).

For general use 3 wolves is hilariously OP, they do zero damage but they wreck absolute HAVOC on the AI.

This game really went overboard with the bullshit duo boss fights compared to every other souls game too.

This sounds like a strawman to me. Can you give me any examples of anyone in this thread saying the game is utter shit because of these problems?
Curratum quite literally got fatigued and decided that EVERYTHING past a certain point is shit:

The only reason people could ever have a positive outlook on this game is that they're still before the last 30 or so percent of the content.

The only reason I keep playing is taking screenshots. The actual game has gone to complete shit. Crumbling FA is one of the worst area designs I've seen in a From game, on par with the worst bullshit areas of DS2.
I just don't want do deal with this anymore. From have shat the bed big time with the length of this game and the combat encounter bloat and general bullshit. I am just not going to explore or look for anything anymore, just beeline for boss fights with a wiki open on alt-tab.

I don't get the love for Leyndell either. It was 4 streets with some rubble courtyards here and there and an endless stream of knights and snipers thrown along the streets.

I was probably too pissed off with the game at large to "appreciate" it, who knows... :|
90% of the rewards you get in this game after some 40 hours of playtime are crap. The only thing you need is upgrade mats, nothing else is big enough to make that much of a difference, especially post-patch.
If you don't see how his fatigue prevents him to recognize good content in the second half of the game, I don't know what to tell you. Crumbling Farum Azula, Leyndell, and the Consecrated Snowfield are all great areas worthy of being explored. The game showers you with unique weapons and spells, and there are talismans for any build. His posts where he tries to recollect his thoughts on the game are much more reasonable and agreeable, which to me only confirms that these extreme opinions can only be explained with his being mad at and fed up with the game.

That is exactly it. I did get mad and fatigued with the game. There is too much of it, and the fatigue distorts my ability to enjoy any of it anymore.

Nah, I just recently beaten Godrik and honestly it feels worse the more I play it. Maybe its too early but I can really feel how someone "last-miinute" a lot of the game is. For example vigor seems to have been heavily nerfed after the network test because 20 points in the finished game behaves more like 12 in NT. Its especially obvious in comparison to stamina which I leveled once and it has been perfectly serviceable even before that. Same with the amount of souls dropped it genuinely feels like someone cut them in half as most mobs give these weirdly low amounts (67,83 etc.) so cleaning out a whole area might let me level up once... maybe its not really a given. Which would be almost fine if this was DS3 where each point really registered but here unless you min-max it feels almost cosmetic in nature. Worse yet respec is yet again tucked away behind a mid to late game boss fight and is again limited so I suppose I was supposed to restart the game a couple of times to find what works and what does not.

Oh and the elden runes, the one you get from supposed demigods even those feel like someone was fucking with them up until the last moment and not in a good way. You need to first restore their functionality in towers only to then learn that they run on a limited resource that is depleted upon death(yay more farming) and their buffs are not even that good. They are not terrible but for the amount of effort it takes to get they are massively underwhelming.

This is probably the best game I've played in over a decade. It's surreal. I didn't think this was even possible anymore.

I'd agree, this is the best RPG I've played since Witcher 3. Wouldn't say best game overall, because there's been amazing non-RPGs since then but yeah, it was a good time overall, despite the fatigue.

Come to think of it I never even used any of the Elden runes. For the amount of content the game has, the part after Lyndell is so shitty and condensed that I finished the game at 78 hours feeling another half of the game was missing or smth.

Beat Melania with just my Mimic. She's probably my favorite boss in the game. Her first round is classic, Soulsbourne, sword + no magic combat. The second round starts out with some cheese, but once you figure out her moves, she's pretty easy. The weird thing about this game is that a fully upgraded mimic is 100% better than a real, human, co-op partner. The cut in damage from using a human partner makes bosses way harder than they are on your own, and 90% of the time you'll get someone who sucks anyway. I didn't actually start using the mimic until like 80% of the way through the game, and it's a great alternative to having to fuck with humans. I don't know what's wrong, but everytime I'm summoned into someone else's world, or I summon a co-op partner, the connection dies halfway through the fight. It's annoying. The mimic is like a co-op partner for offline play.

Basically done with NG. I've gotten all the achievements save for the 2 headed dragon and the endings. I suspect you can speed run the whole game on NG+ in like 2 hours, so I'm not going to cheese all 3 endings. I'll just do it the old fashioned way. I did all of Ranni's questline this playthrough, which is the most involved, so I'll probably get her ending out of the way first.

I used the Curved Bloodfang Great Sword for 90% of the game, then switched to the Rivers of Blood katana for end game. I kind of want to try dual whips for NG+.

Also, the lore's grown on me. This has probably the most involved side quests of any Souls game, with some very memorable characters. I sped through NG, but I'll try to slow down and actually pay attention for NG+.
