I'm thinking colossal swords aren't gonna work on Melania. Fuckers are too slow. Might have to go back to regular greatswords.

Jfc this girl is somethin else. I summoned 2 people for help and one died in the first phase. Me and the other guy got slaughtered in the 2nd phase.

Oh god, I just got some idiot who was blocking all of her attacks with a shield, basically keeping her health bar at 100% the entire fight.

Woohoo finally got her. Well, me and the bro squad that is. I don't feel like I did much. I DID however deal the killing blow in the first phase so that was my contribution.

Mine would probably look like this right now:

But I still have to play ER more to decide if it should be slightly over or under DS2.
This is exactly my assessment too.

Haven't played Bloodborne, Demon's or Sekiro (would probably hate the last one with no builds and limited to katanas). But among the ones I did play, the ranking looks right.

I recently went back to Stormveil and farmed that set.

Banished knight set + poise talisman + two powerstanced colossal weapons + pumped VIG, END and STR.

LET'S ROLL

Eh, was rocking Banished set + Greatsword, but now in Leyndell am trying out dual colossal swords (Greatsword + Troll's Golden Sword or Grafted) so had to downgrade my armor a lot to stay at medium encumbrance.

Guess I could try to upgrade and use the Radahn's swords, but their reach is lower I think and, more importantly, can't use Bloodhound's Step with them.

I cheesed her by using Rivers of Blood, Swarm of Flies, and the Mimic. Even then it took me several tries to avoid getting targeted by the waterfowl attack.

Dark Souls 1's second half nosedives in quality, far too much to warrant an S-tier even with the expansion but I understand why people would like it. Especially if it was their first. I put Dark Souls 3 over it because consistency is better than the highs being higher and the lows being much lower.

the trick is to forget about medium encumbrance and embrace fatroll.

Dark Souls 3 was the only one out of the Soulsborne games I have played I did not even care to finish (dropped soon after Nameless King AFAIR)...

Guess with Step this could even work.

I'm a light armor myself. Armor is shit in this game anyway, there's absolutely NO scaling it all uses the same formula regardless of where you get it, so the defense is exclusively dependent upon the weight, and the increased invincibility is far more useful than the ~15-20% reduction you get from going heavy armor without pouring massive points into endurance to try and keep it medium (and even then light still superior), and Dancer charm gives a respectably large attack bonus at light armor. Haven't had any real trouble with any boss yet sticking with light armor.

Radahn's swords are a bundle of fun, you just smash everything with that special attack.

Well, on NG you do, while you can flask through encounters easily, coz you get hit a lot during those long windups. I suppose on higher difficulties, with higher mob HP and damage, you can't afford to do that anymore. So use them while you can.

For special attacks, I think I vastly prefer Ruins Greatsword's range.

Well if you're after a straight-line range then Blasphemous is way better than Ruins - shoots further, does more damage, heals you AND is lighter and faster.

But gathering up 5+ mobs and smashing them all with the Starscourge gravity blast is soo satisfying, doubly so with flying mobs. Eagles? Harpies? Flying beastmen? Not a problem anymore.

I summoned a couple of badasses and we killed her pretty fast. Her Katana seems cool af but it requires 48 dex. Looks like I'll never be using it.

It needs 21 Faith, tho...
And is a mere "regular" greatsword.
Also don't know about the flames it shoots, but Ruins also does a wide line aoe (hitting multiple mobs is not a problem, particularly if you kite a little to group them) and does huge poise damage - generally launches normal enemies airborne along its aoe.

Also can be gotten MUCH sooner - possibly even before visiting Stormveil/Liurnia (not that it is an easy fight... but can be cheesed somewhat).

Completed my NG+ run. Overall there's more good than bad but it's definitely frontloaded to an awful degree and with all the sales and undeserved 10/10s this got, they have no reason to address any of the valid criticisms levied against it so I'm anticipating From Software's steady decline going forward.
If this didn't have DLC coming, I'd probably never touch it again.

That sword you get from the elden beast remembrance is pretty good if you need to get some runes to buy stones to upgrade all the weapons you want before doing a ng+.

This game has so much going for it with all the cool build stuff. Too bad there's an open world to traverse again.. going to put it off for now, but I definitely want to experience some faith goodness and a little arcane mix in the future.

why is everyone simping over this ranni girl, is she that good tier of a waifu? no spoiler please I just reached liurna yesterday

- her characterization is somewhat cryptic like most FromSoftware characters and story lines, so players are invited to project their imagination (and thus see what they want to see). Despite that, like the rest of Elden Ring's world and characters, she is better conveyed than most previous characters and story lines from prior FromSoftware games

- her quest line is long and detailed and is tied strongly directly to the overarching narrative and themes of Elden Ring's world; if you are interested in exploring the world and story of Elden Ring, her quest is essential. Doing it will substantially alter how you interpret the game's story (you can just get 2 Great Runes and run off to complete the critical path in order to enjoy a story about an ambitious mortal rising to godhood; Ranni's quest peels at the onion a bit more than that)

Can't really say more than that without starting to seriously spoil stuff.

On subsequent playthroughs you can basically skip the entire open world and only experience the content that interests you. Without meticulously exploring everything, you can ride through the entire map in less than 2 hours.

For an open game with crafting, they really streamlined weapon upgrading, kinda sad I didn't even think about it before looking at this post.

Last battle gave me Children of Kos vibe. After 10 hours of agony I finally beat the bastard. What's weird, after 180 hours of play time I don't have enough of this game, after some rest I will return to kick some butts I've missed (Volcano Manor, Helitree). It was a great journey.

Is the Cipher Pata found in the Roundtable Hold any good? I'm looking into giving a Faith build a shot and a pure Holy weapon with good scaling sounds nice, but I'm not sure how effective it's going to be down the line. I enjoyed Caestus/Vanquisher's Seal runs in DS3 and DS2, so I wonder what this is going to be like.
