I think I enjoy this game partially because I knew nothing about it before playing it. I saw no images from the game at all minus the ones from however many years ago. Feels good to be a late Souls fan since I am not mentally deranged due to the series jumping in different directions so often.

I don't think the souls series is jumping anywhere the changes between new titles are quite subtle, I think the biggest game changer for me in ER are jump attacks I went back to DS I, and I'm missing them.

Sekiro and Nioh feel different enough thematically and Bloodborne changed enough to piss all the Souls fans off. Sekiro also got a lot of praise so it had to have added something, speed is what I heard I believe. Granted all of the games are basically reskins but whatever...my point was I just enjoy these games for what they are not for what I want them to be. People will rip them off anyway so further iterative design will occur.

Sekiro has like a completely different combat systems and the best bossfights in the series. Has way less RPG elements and only 1 weapon though.
1 weapon? Wtf?

Imo Sekiro isn't even a Soulsborne game, it just happens to be made by FS. No chargen, no real builds, no real gear. It's more like (a crappy) Devil May Cry or Ninja Gaiden than Dark Souls.

Completed my NG+ run. Overall there's more good than bad but it's definitely frontloaded to an awful degree and with all the sales and undeserved 10/10s this got, they have no reason to address any of the valid criticisms levied against it so I'm anticipating From Software's steady decline going forward.
If this didn't have DLC coming, I'd probably never touch it again.

Wow, I never expected I'd see someone else who ranks these things more or less exactly how I would (I think I might put ER higher, but otherwise, this is spot on). Dark Souls 1 is reasonably good, but is highly overrated and is definitely the low part of the series.

Here's my tier list

I loved Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1 because of how immersive and scary and vivid they were. I haven't felt that in any of the other From Soft games (except for DS2 during The Gutter, but I still like them all a lot.

N00b warning.

I really like the art style of this game, the music and the overall dreadful mood. But I suck at it. I don't understand what I'm doing - to some extent, I think it's the way it's supposed to be, but I'm afraid I die much too often and too easily. I was better at playing Elex.

Question: is there any tutorial out there that could help me git gud or should I just keep trying to do so on my own? I also find the controls a bit weird on PC, is such a game more suitable to be played on a gamepad?

How far in are you? Best armor and sword you can get can be farmed from Banished Knights in Stormveil Castle. That set kicked ass for nearly 50% of the game and then I finally started messing around with other stuff.

I recently went back to Stormveil and farmed that set.

Banished knight set + poise talisman + two powerstanced colossal weapons + pumped VIG, END and STR.

You gotta swap Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3 tho.

Nice. I would have went with two colossal swords way earlier but I thought they had to be the exact same two swords in order to powerstance. The dual banished knight swords were pretty awesome though.

I also been fuckin around with the spiked caestus and star fist. I've always had fun with fist weapons in these games. Still waiting for them to bring back the bone fist from Dark Souls 2. That thing was amazing. Drop kicking enemies off cliffs never got old.

Tbh powerstancing two super slow weapons is only nice at the endgame, when you are at level 150 and have enough points invested to deal decent damage while at the same time being good at tanking.

Powerstancing two giant weapons early sucked, because I had very little in terms of health, stamina and encumbrance.

Holy shit that catacomb behind Radahn though, INSANE rune farming.

Literally got 120k going through it because of the constant respawning enemies killing each other as you go through towards the lever.

I'm thinking colossal swords aren't gonna work on Melania. Fuckers are too slow. Might have to go back to regular greatswords.

Jfc this girl is somethin else. I summoned 2 people for help and one died in the first phase. Me and the other guy got slaughtered in the 2nd phase.
