Anyways, wrecked Black Blade Kindred, which is listed as one of the tougher fights in ER:

I actually enjoyed this one, he has powerful attacks and lots of HP, but the attacks are methodical and elegant, with clear counters, so it was a slow but well organized fight. Unlike the usual diarrhea spam that passes for boss design.
I remember how I removed armor for fight with ringleader with words, when he don't hit you you need no armor right? There were still scratches for more than half HP bar.
BTW I did it with <800 HP. 730 or 750.
That fight took ages, because I wanted to have it fast. Well, eventually I had it slow. He's decent summon however.

The voidborn before is PITA.

I appreciate making this discussion not only about "how long the windup should be" to the extent that it no longer can be mistaken for a spanking porn enthusiasts forum

However it is odd to say only Dark Souls games are based on rolling, like it is 2012 again. Over the decade pretty much the whole AAA segment that used to do Batman/AC combat switched to rollfests. Sometimes the dodge has an animation of a very long jump, but it's all the same, iframes and whatnot.

I don't think that's true. Obviously the games I already mentioned don't have rolling (and happen to have some of the best combat systems ever designed): Warband, KCD, Sekiro. But also, games like Nioh, Ass Creed Origins/Odyssey, etc had different animation than rolling for dodging (which already makes it less non-sensical), but also had other equally or more valid options, like parrying, blocking, etc. In Witcher 3, you rolled against large monster attacks, where it makes more sense, but used regular dodging or parrying/counter attacking against normal attacks most of the time.

Not your best fight bro, there were so many windows where you could have used your guard counters but never did :(

I try to use it whenever I can but in this fight, it seemed counter-productive. This guy has very awkward moves, and I didn't fight him that many times (maybe killed him on 3rd or 4th try) so I didn't have them memorized exactly, so it was safer to wait a little after his attack to see if he will attack again or chill for a bit. That made guard counter inferior to regular attacks.

Also, what's up with your Estus being upgraded only to +5? My strenght dude has yet to get into Leyndell and Mt Gelmir and I have it already upgraded to +7.

I generally play without with the wiki when I can, so this is how many seeds/etc I found by organically exploring.

There's one per church essentially, so you could do with a little scan of your map and see how many you've missed, no need for the wiki.

Yeah most of the seeds and ALL of the tears are easily identifiable because the churches have very distinctive structures that you can see as soon as you have the map for the area, and most of the trees are also marked. I was +9 without ever looking at the wiki for the tears.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
finished the game. 190 hours. the actual final boss sucks
i fucking hate giant monster in elden ring so much, the real enemy is the camera there. i don't get it, all the other souls have giant monsters too but this game's are just especially super annoying as they move faster, and they are bigger than the average giant souls monsters making the camera super awkward and jump all over the place.

compared to the ones i remember (gaping dragon for example) it's still big, but the lock-on are located on its torso by default, and it's fastest attack is the rush one. you still get relatively on-center camera and the boss center of mass itself is low on the ground so you still get the normal eye level field of vision. compared to elden ring, the lock on are usually in the upper chest, or somewhere higher that give you "looking up" camera by default, and the monsters itself jump around or move around too fast (ulcer tree spirit ) making the movement puke-inducing.

godfrey is the true final boss, man that fight was awesome. took me 2.5 hours but still super cool

Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture
Finally a 100% true-porky playthrough:

He uses dirty tricks like quickstepping, weapon arts, consumables, and *shudders* summoning, but it's still interesting. Ironjar Aromatic + Prayerful Strike is hilarious, and stacking more buffs would probably allow you to get to 80-90% damage negation. The duration isn't long enough to make it a 100% reliable strategy, but it's still fun to think about it.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 Pathfinder: Kingmaker Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Finished the game at level 169 after 119h, exploring most of the locations (might have missed some smaller dungeons). For the first third of the game I used an Uchigatana, after which I switched to Bloodhound's Fang and started powerstancing it with a Blood Omen Cleaver at Mohg, Lord of Blood. I would say that Margit, the Death Rite Bird and the pair of gargoyles from the underground were the hardest bosses in the game. Based on all the posts seen here about Malenia, I was expecting her to be very hard, but I think I killed her after 10 attempts. I didn't summon any players and only for Mohg and Elden Beast used the Mimic. For Mohg I did it immediately after powerstancing, which I regret as I was also pretty close to killing him only with the Bloodhound Fang. The Elden Beast should have been a horse area.

I hated the tree spirits and the Erdtree avatars as they were used far too often; the dragon's were ok. I also didn't like the stone statues, they were just annoying.

The game is great and wouldn't mind playing some expansion with some legacy dungeons. Miquella's Haligtree was the hardest area in the game and could have been the final area of the game.

I was getting around 62% damage negation using Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman and Blackflame's Protection BUT also using a scorpion talisman and medium armour. 80% should definitely be doable just by changing those last two variable, and I'm sure there's more stuff that could be used.
Does Ironjar Aromatic stack with Blackflame's Protection?

Horarah Loux makes a bit deal out of being a WARRIOR. His descendent Nepheli Loux does as well. Warrior, warrior, warrior.

Yet it's the Hero class that's based on them. Same aesthetics, Hoarah's favored weapon (axe), and description that basically names Hoarah ("badlands chieftain").

Hero.jpg

The actual Warrior class looks very different. It's some kind of dual-wielding smurf fag.

I've come to realize that all the people complaining about the post capital hp bloat and getting one shotted are completely right. I'm so sorry for my earlier contentions on this subject and for thinking that people who said things like that were terrible whiners. Please forgive me!

Later, I'll also demonstrate how wrong I was that armour and poise do anything in PVE content. :negative:
