Thats exactly what I try to argue every single time ds2 fans shill ds2 powerstance as godsend. Not only not having movement/non-neutral attacks was awful, but they were generally awful bar very few movesets (like the curved swords). If Elden Ring had DS2 powerstance nobody would use them.
I mean they managed to convince themselves DS2 has the best PvP, for some reason, there's nothing they can't make up

Anyway, I guess now it's open world and my choice to go after the Limuria boss, Caelid boss or the Mt. Gelmir boss? Also, since enemies are giving a lot more runes in Mt. Gelmir, I expect them to be tougher, but... no? I would assume that the Volcano Manor boss would be more difficult than either the Caelid or Limuria boss but it seems Mt. Gelmir is an easier region?
You should have completed the Raya Lucaria Academy "legacy dungeon" (which has the "Liurnia boss") long before reaching Volcano Manor in Mt. Gelmir or exploring Caelid. At some point after completing Raya Lucaria Academy, you should explore Caria Manor in Liurnia, find Ranni in one of the towers beyond it, and begin her quest line, which is linked to the underground areas (and to the "Caelid boss" accessed through Redmane Castle).

The fact alone that rolling actually costs stamina, and that Estus is not completely OP just makes this game better than any other Souls PVP.

Rolling doesn't "actually cost stamina". Rolling was always very low cost in the series compared to attacking. This is true in Demon's Souls where contrary to what "muh slow Souls" shills starting Templar Knight could fatroll 7 times straight and regen stamina 45 points/second with its starting armor, and in Dark Souls 2, where you can roll about 5 times but 2 straight swords heavy attack completely kill your stamina.

The estus system of Dark Souls 2 is awful, not only it was exploitable for regen effect stacking and you could heal even the punished damage back as long as the strike didn't kill you, but invaders had to pivot to faith builds and attunement to heal. It's also paired with lifegems completely breaking any kind of balance.

Dark Souls 3/post Dark Souls 3 system of estus that is constantly gained and spent throughout the level/invasion is better, and if the opponent is good, healing unpunished is not as easy as you claim. Even if you heal, and get hit, you are still in negative frames, having lost most of what you healed.

Fromsoftware balancing estus as an attrition mechanic is good and improved invasions, closing a deal too easily makes invasions go from playing cat and mouse throughout the level as it was intended since Demon's Souls to muh honoraburu bonfire dueling that was prevalent in especially DS2 and also DS1 when From went full retard over estus. If the Invader has heals, but is disadvantaged, and healing is fast and you might need to wear down the host and his summon, then you start thinking about draining his resources rather than playing bootleg colosseum

- Compared to the base game, the side dungeons are WAY more unique and thought out. I'd say the worst side dungeon in the DLC is still better than the best ones in the main game.

Some of the gimmicks in the base mini dungeons were quite clever. I'd say the DLC was better overall but i still actually liked several in the base game.

And yet, the stamina regeneration, and the overall stamina management in Dark Souls 3 was much more forgiving than in any other Souls' game, because of the much faster and more aggressive playstyle of the game, thus, allowing people to roll spam much more, BB-Style, and completely neglecting the stricter stamina management the other games had. We can all thank BB for that. There is a reason why Dark Souls 3 coined the term "Roll-Spam" simulator.

The base game has a few good side dungeons, but they are a minuscule minority in the unending sequence of trash caves and crypts that fill the open world. On the contrary, the ones in the DLC are all worth exploring.

In theory I don't mind the open world in the sense that the scale is impressive. I very much like the sense of progression - I went in blind so I didn't know what to expect. Starting in Limgrave and then making my way through Stormveil Castle only to arrive in Liurnia of the Lakes was pretty cool. Eventually that led to me finding a way up to the Altus Plateau and seeing Leyndell. I thought that was going to be end of the game but there's even more zones after that.

My only real complaint isn't the size so much as the empty space and how repetitive some of the smaller dungeons are. I think they should have been more numerous and unique but overall I did enjoy my time with the game.

I still haven't found the glintstone key yet though. Feels like I'm missing an obvious clue.

It's kinda dumb in its obviousness, yes. You might have already found something related to how to get in. So here's a simple question:

What is the most obvious way into a building?

Except Demon's Souls was a fast game, and the identity of the series has been established with Dark Souls 3 returning to many tenats of Demon's souls like a fast combat based around aggression and using more stamina with players being more active and not out of breath after 3 R1s.

We can all thank BB for that.
Bloodborne is a reaction to the inherent flaws of Dark Souls gameplay systems, not the other way around, but Dark souls 3 is not a direct copy of it, it has marked difference in how hyperarmor, casting, dodging and movement works that made it undeniably Souls, starting from the dodge itself putting you in negative frames and on the backfoot rather than being an offensive move.

There is a reason why Dark Souls 3 coined the term "Roll-Spam" simulator.
Yeah it comes from retards, the kind of retards that will also complain about bosses being too aggressive and getting their windows of opportunity stolen exactly because Elden Ring is not like Bloodborne

A door?

I found the outcast mage, he told me I need to find a key. But I don't know where the key is. The light of grace only points to Raya Lucaria Academy.
