I made a huge mistake when I played Elden Ring back in 2022. I looked at every nook and cranny of every location, completed those boring samey dungeons, and killed recolored dudes in jails.

By the time I got to the capital I was already so fed up with the game I couldn't continue. Haven't touched it since then.

Having far greater willpower autism than you, I managed to do that with several playthroughs. However, because I played it SO much, I haven't been able to play more than the first zone of the DLC before wanting to kill myself.

I've been trying to very casually play a new character to get back to the DLC and go through it. We'll see how it goes. So far I haven't touched it in two weeks, so this might be another DOA run. Turns out, you CAN have too much of a good thing.

I think the game would benefit from trimming some fat. Those dungeons, reskinned bosses, or bosses that are just combinations of two other bosses? Eh, that's not quality content.

I like how the sword that Leonine Misbegotten drops is pretty much the best 2H weapon in the game and you can obtain it pretty early, yet in all my 150+ hours I still haven't come across a decent Dex weapon... Recently I started a new character and after 20 hours I'm still running around in my staring armour, as a Dex character. When I was playing a spellcaster build, it wasn't until I crossed the point of 50h of playtime that I found spells better than glintstone pebble. Item placement in this game is truly something. I mean it was like that in Dark Souls too, but then you didn't have to go through dozens of hours of mind-numbing filler for game to finally start being rewarding (exploring locations was its own reward, for one).

Opened it for the first time since July. Tried fighting Leonine Misbegotten again. Deleting it. I want a refund, but am 12 hours in with no progress anywhere, only the "Roundtable Hold" achievement unlocked. I hate all of you who enabled FromSoftware until they got to this point. Made such good games once. Not only do they suck now, but they've dragged a large part of the industry down with them.
......what

This boss isn't even hard? I'm shit at Souls games and even I can kill this guy
DPS check, roll-timing check. Nothing more, nothing less. Learn the patterns and you'll be fine.

It's luck of the draw whether you find something good early on for your playstyle or not. Hookclaws is one of the best Dex weapons in the game, that only gets better when infused, but you probably missed the random corner in Stormveil they are found in. That being said, the shop in the Roundtable sells at least one good weapon for each basic type. You could have gotten one of those.

A steamer I watched recently started as the Prisoner and was lucky enough to find the scroll containing Carian Slicer within his first 10 hours. Needless to say he completely annihilated the early game and hasn't yet hit any major obstacle in the midgame yet.

It's enough to make me wish there were an AI/Loot Director of some sort that could move rewards around based on:

--What you have already (Just got 3 high-stat weapons/spells in a row? Here's something you can actually use).

--Your current (or most used) playstyle.

But something like that is waaaay beyond Fromsoft's ability to actually implement properly.

"2H" is not exclusive to a build. As a general rule of thumb Builds that prioritize dexterity use circa 12 Strength, which can get 2 handed to match up to 18 Strength requirements for many weapons, as well as 1 handeding many lighter weapons, but it could go up to 14.
A Bolt of Granssax build for example

What? Limgrave has one of the best weapons in the base game and it's stupidly strong and it gets buffed while having innate bleed.

Did you mean hookclaws? It's strong thanks to bleed damage, but honestly I think bleed is broken in this game. And yet you can obtain hookclaws very early, and if there are really no better Dex weapons in the entire game, I think it's bad design. Like you can beat some mega ultra hard boss and in reward get some trash that doesn't even fit your build, whereas these hookclaws just lie there in some dump in one of the early stages and it's actually one of the best weapons in the game.
