spekkio Yeah, I see. What I meant is that I'd like previews to display here, in the savestate list:

bYvwKHH.png

Preview + date and time would be the best (if my memory serves me right, some emulators for Android had such feature, for instance). That way it would be immediately visible which exact savestate I need. But a simple marker showing which slots are occupied would be fine too, at the very minimum.

Android 13 actually supports Dualsense now, but unfortunately the touchpad buttons or swipes can't be bound to anything. The touchpad itself works as a cursor but I struggle to imagine when that would be useful on its own. On PC I have several F keys bound to swipes.

Dualsense is a weird controller to use for emulation/other games.

Classic Rumble pretty much sucks with it, might as well stick with a DS4 if you have it. Much cheaper too.

I went out of my way to buy one last year to replace my senile Xbone controller that served all of two years. It has definite upsides as well as downsides. I really like the extra touchpad functionality and it's the perfect size and width for me. Whenever I use an XSX controller I feel like I'm pulling it apart from the sides. The downsides are the quite frankly abysmal battery life as well as occasional shenanigans when some JP PC ports fully support it but then freak out when I try to run DS4W on top of it so I have to go fiddling around. The left stick has very slight rightward shift that is easily fixed in DS4W, haven't played a game that was so sensitive yet that the extra deadzone became an issue. I may look into upgrading the battery since as it is it doesn't last two sessions.

Can you elaborate what you mean by classic rumble?

Dualsense has a different approach to feedback than older gamepads. Instead of using a smaller motor and a bigger motor, it uses 2 identical ones along with its adaptive triggers and so on. Which is great if you play PS5 games and the PC ports that support it. Downside is that whenever you play an older game with rumble (for example in emulation), the effect is demolished. I do prefer the PlayStation design myself including touchpad.

That's why I prefer the DS4 compared to the DualSense for emulation. Of course, if you aren't as anal about correct rumble as me it's potato patato. Still a lot cheaper than a Dualsense though.

Ok, autistic question, but, is there a place where i can download covers so they show up nicely?

Google just pointed me to sites where i can download them game by game like LaunchBox or The Cover Project site but it's gonna take me forever like this plus those sites don't always have good quality covers, and neither does the build in cover downloader in DuckStation (most of the ones i found there were pretty crappy). The cover downloader for PCSX2 seems better on the few PS2 games i have so far but even there i still saw a few crappy ones. Last thing i want to do is google for two hours to find a good cover then have to photoshop them into the right size etc. Surely somebody out there already did this kind of shit lmao.

I like RetroArchs cover database. Usually decent quality, multiple regions available, .png. You would still have to download them one by one, but no cutting at least.

I don't know, it seems neat to have them, especially if i end up broadcasting the emulator on my TV.

I just expected that shit to be already all set up. Didn't think i would have had to make my own covers.

Ok, so i was mucking around RPCS3 and loaded up Demon Souls to see if my earlier set up was still holding after all the updates and i just noticed the game doesn't save upon quitting. Not sure if this is how it always was i didn't spend much time with the game besides checking if it worked ok. I tried to google but so so far i came up with nothing not sure what did i do wrong.

Also, does compatibility work differently for different versions of the game? The one i'm using right now is BLES00932 which is the PAL version (friend gave it to me never even bothered checking what it was) not sure if it makes a different if i try the US version instead.

I also loaded up Dark Souls and it actually works lmao. 4K and everything and so far it's a steady 30 FPS. No patches to remove motion blur or depth of field, no way to raise FPS that i've seen and textures always take sometime to load before they get cached but it works. I have a friend who is a cheap bastard and refuses to buy the game as he hates console games and the price of the Remastered on Steam doesn't sit right with him. I was thinking maybe i'll get him to play on RPCS3 been trying for years to get him to play this and the asshole won't budge lul. He thinks the game is some shitty third person console trash can't seem to convince him otherwise.

Just reinstall everything and see if it happens again. If it does, then it is a windows update screwing you over.

No. The only major differences are the physical and digital versions fo games.

AetherSX2 development is indefinitely suspended.

Due to neverending impersonating, complaints, demands, and now death threats, I'm done.

You can still download/use the app and it will continue to work for the forseeable future.

AetherSX2 was always meant to be a fun hobby for me, not profit driven. It doesn't make sense to continue working on a hobby which isn't fun anymore.

Stay safe out there, and watch out for scammers, there seems to be a lot of them.

(e.g. there's multiple people claiming to represent AetherSX2 on various social media - they are not legit)

Thanks to everyone who wasn't a d*ck for the last year.

Current build downloads are still available at https://www.aethersx2.com/archive/ - please follow good security hygiene and don't install APKs from random sources.

N00b question. I just found out that PPSSPP can't run eboot images. Are those meant only for a physical PSP? Should i just look for ISOs for the emulator and ignore eboots?

Alright, so installed RetroArch back. I was loading up a Saturn rom with Mednafen but fuuuuck that shit even with the front end it's a bit primitive and doesn't support any form of compression and i'm already running out of space as it is.

So i installed RetroArch from the website, no Steam this time, pressed F5 because somebody said something would happen but nothing happened lmao.

Which OS?
Also try to manually assign the desktop toggle here:
SETTINGS-INPUT-HOTKEYS-DESKTOP MENU TOOGLE.
See what is listed there and try to change it to see if to works with other keys.

That's wierd, the menu toggle setting was set to F1, but pressing to F1 does nothing. I changed it to F5 and that works. Out of curiosity i reset all options to default, and now F5 works right off the bat. I went to look at the menu toggle setting, and it says F1 again, but F5 still works. Wat

I'm gonna leave it alone since now it seems to be working lmao.

Nice that RetroArch switches core on the fly. I have the Beetle Saturn one and on a whim i tried the PPSSPP core and it just switched to one or the other depending on the CHD i select. Noice.

Heh, i'm starting to be impressed by how often i can solve issues just by picking Vulkan. Like i was toying around with FlyCast and couldn't figure out why everything was choppy (trying it on a collection of ancient arcade games), but then i saw Vulkan as an option and it fixed everything. Not bad, not bad at all
