Fallout 4 does have farming. There are lots of settlements everywhere, and they sell a part to diamond city presumably. There's even a BoS quest where you go intimidate farmers to get food.

It's watered down but surely F4 is more about the logistics of survival than any Fallout game so far.

That was just an example -- the quote (and article) were in reference to Fallout 3 (something that should have been gallingly obvious if you had done me the simple courtesy of clicking the link I tracked down to provide context for you).

The reason Shaun becomes the head of the Institute is NEVER EXPLAINED. We're just supposed to assume that he was so uniquely qualified that they had to make him their leader.

Actually, given how you usually qualify to become the leader of a faction in Bethesda games, he probably just did a couple of fetch quests for the previous leader and/or killed some bad guy while the dozens of infinitely better suited people there couldn't be bothered with it.

You can get pretty stupidly overpowered with pistols. I've been using that and the Deliverer for about 90% of my encounters so far: the latter for sneak attacks, and you can get so many shots in with it with VATS that you can pretty efficiently kill enemies via a death of a thousand cuts if the first shots don't down them, forcing critical after stored critical with each one (and I haven't even bothered to try and invest any points into upping my sneak critical damage or silenced weapon damage yet), and the latter for when they do spot me and I need some heavy-hitting going, since the gun's a better sniping weapon than the intended sniper rifle.

Meanwhile in New Vegas you're shot in head twice point blank and left for dead. A couple of days later after being "patched up" you go on to seek revenge and become the most powerful figure in the land. Now there's a premise that even the average child would find ridiculous.
Except this isn't true. You COULD make it sound like it's revenge seeking, but overall, there's many dialogue choices and actions that you could do that make the Courier avoid Benny outright, be simply curious of the package and desire teamwork with Benny, be disgruntled and avoid New Vegas as much as possible after learning information about your assailant, or show fear of New Vegas isn't exactly maintained well by House, as his own prodigy is basically running amok, and then focus on the other factions instead. Or simply be curious of what Benny's doing, find out, and take over instead after realizing how much potential power and change you can do with that sort of deal.

Hell, there was supposed to be another choice where the player can outright leave the Mojave to it's own fate by exiting the gates at the Mojave Outpost. I believe the Deadline fucked that over.

Gee, I wonder who did that.

Imagining there being some or another medical reason why the institute wanted Shaun is a trivial suspension of disbelief that is inherent in the consumption of any fictional media.

Meanwhile in New Vegas you're shot in head twice point blank and left for dead. A couple of days later after being "patched up" you go on to seek revenge and become the most powerful figure in the land. Now there's a premise that even the average child would find ridiculous.

Except several people have been shot in the head and survived before, sometimes with minimal or no brain damage. There's even the famous case of that guy who survived a railroad spike being lodged in his cranium and ended up with an antisocial disorder. The hoopla surrounding the Platinum Chip is also based on a conspiracy that was set in motion before the Player Character ever arrived in the Mojave.

That doesn't even come close to the very real issue that Shaun was never necessary to produce 3rd Gen Synths. It's easy to suspend disbelief before you actually know why they did it, and once it's explained the issues are so self-evidently retarded that it's impossible for any thinking person to not immediately spot the issue. Your apologetics in this regard are downright pathetic.

lol seeing Gun Nut and other crafting perks having Level Requirement is pr. annoying.
I wanted to mod Kellogg gun and realize the most I can do is a Rank 0 mod to increase damage while the rest is Rank 3 or above.

And what's with the stores having scaled ammo stock? .44 ammo is non-existent for my Lvl 9 character. Had to download Ammo Crafting mod.

side note: I haven't used the Fatman, but does the explosion send enemies flying? From what I recall from suiciders and other clips, getting hit by a mininuke/nuclear explosion makes the most boring death scene happen: You slump onto the ground, DED. Not flying from the shockwave and into buildings, or flying into the air in a humorous style, but just...fall over as if someone poked you gently while you're somehow falling asleep standing up. GOTY, anyone?

Wow, he literally just slumps to the ground. Thanks for the info, looks like I won't be touching that weapon anytime soon.

It's not really a spam-like weapon. I only use it when I meet a bullet sponge.
Missile Launchers work too.

If you're patient enough you'll eventually just find a .44 with a Powerful Receiver and Comfort Grip. Gun Nut is completely redundant unless you're going for Automatic and Big Gun mods.

Stalker..... I almost got Stalker 2

The Stalker games are all "Stalker 1". Stalker 2 was never made. There were even rumours that Bethesda wanted to buy the Stalker franchise, fortunately nothing happened.
Well I meant Stalker: Clear Sky. The third one was Call of Pripyat.

I googled a youtube video for the first one--Shadows of Chernobyl--and wow it looks fun:

Just watched a video where the guy spawns a legendary deathclaw next to three supermutants, who proceed to beat him to death with nailboards while it pathetically swings at the air next to them. He managed to take one mutie down by sheer luck.

what is this combat system :abyssgazer:

It's funny how in NV, the Deathclaw was just this badass creature that you always had this tense feeling of fighting when it came to close-quarters-combat, because even in Power Armor, those claws would slice through your armor like a hot knife through warm butter, and the only time you felt safe was sniping from afar, or exploiting their 'no jump' feature, but even then the Deathclaws had a chance of 'teleporting' right to you if they used their leap attack and the player as near the ledge just a bit.

Meanwhile in 4, The Deathclaws have become nothing more than a hilarious joke, mostly because:
-They're incredibly sluggish now, even when running on all fours, they have this look as if the gravity of earth itself was slammed upon their backs. Their movements are overall pretty slow for such beasts.
-Their awkward downward slashes and upward slashes are wind-up attacks that give the player easy enough time to step to the left/right depending on where the slash is coming from, and totally miss the entire attack while the Deathclaw has it's belly exposed.
-Their "RAWRIMSUPAHMAD" stomp animation in combat initiation leaves their belly open for enough time to do massive damage upon the Deathclaw.

Deathclaws in New Vegas were a joke. 95% of them were in the quarry, where you could just walk up the conveyor belt and plink them to death with a varmint rifle.

At least bethesda added some AI to it in 4. Now if they can't get to you they run away and hide.

Only an autist like you would have the patience to plink at Deathclaws with a varmint rifle.

I have never once been killed by a Deathclaw in Fallout 4. I'm more threatened by raiders who randomly spawn with a Fat Man. I faced down a Savage Deathclaw and killed it with a couple swings from my Super Sledge.

Err, if you're talking about the main 4 conveyor belts upon the large building, Deathclaws can, and WILL get up the ramp easily and box you in, so no idea what version of NV you're playing, but the last patched version has Deathclaws capable of going up the belts, along with the Matriarch and Alpha moving x2, x3 as fast as a normal deathclaw and attacking faster as well, making them the most dangerous creature to fight. If you're going to exploit the 'lack of jumping' of the AI, Deathclaws as well in NV run away to try to find a way to 'get up' to you, same thing with Fallout 4. Their AI hasn't improved, so I have no idea what the fuck you're talking about, they've been nerfed, mostly.

I killed my first deathclaw at level 10 with a basic sniper rfile that I modified from the first hunting rifle I found. I 4 shotted it...Legend of the Wasteland had become a fucking joke

I remember killing the FO1 Hub deathclaw with a handful of targeted hunting rifle shots (+ a few shotgun\pistol hits from Ian and Tycho) at around level 6. Since the HR gets a native to-hit bonus, you can just kite indefinitely. Even easier with the .223 pistol, as it nullifies most of the target's DR.
