The new raid is beautiful and fantastic the bosses are super hard tho! (also the goddess of fertility looks like a proper goddess of fertility)

Thoughts on 6.3 MSQ as I played through it:

Oh look, more self congratulatory Scion wanking... didn't you guys disband over a year ago? Aren't we supposed to be going on new adventures with a new cast of characters? Where are they?

No. I don't want to party with you or G'raha again. You starred for 400+ hours of visual novel. You had your time in the sun. Stop trying to force yourself back into my life.

Did Jullus' voice actor change?

Another cool high fantasy environment... wasted as the last 5 minute stretch of a corridor dungeon. What a shame. Imagine if this had been a fully fledged underground zone with quests and FATEs and jumping puzzles and such. Exploring hidden reaper villages and talking to their NPCs, fighting monsters mutated by cerulueam, jumping puzzles where you jump over cerlueam fire, baiting mobs into cerlueam geysers when they erupt and ignite. The Cerluelam fires weren't even a terrain hazard in this dungeon!

This is the third patch in a row where the game has you backtrack through a dungeon after beating the boss to go click on stuff. Why not just make it a full zone? Why be cheap?

... What containers?

Really? You've lived for... how many thousands of years? Dynasties of Voidsent have risen and fallen, and you never fought other rival Voidsent who pushed you to the brink? Or encountered powerful warriors when invading other worlds? Wow. That makes the world feel rather small.

More like the arch disappointments. You four were supposed to be the most powerful Voidsent on the Thirteenth... and I just casually defeated them all in two patches, just like that. How very disappointing. There really is nothing threatening out there in this setting anymore. The world feels small.

This wanking isn't doing it for me. Give me tension! Give me stakes!

... That's it? We waited almost 5 months for this? That wasn't even 2 hours, was it? Meh.

Last stretch of the MSQ dungeon was cool. Should've been a fully fledged zone.

Finally took the time to do the new raid. Sadly the encounter was a bit less 'imposing' than I expected.

The_Mask reminds me that in FFXI there was some guy named Legolas My Egolas.

Mebrilia the Viera Queen any fertility goddess I've ever seen looked a lot more like the picture Caim posted. What makes you say that FFXIV's fertility goddess looks like a proper fertility goddess? Edit: The previous post showing a picture of her said that was Memphina. I googled Memphina, and someone completely different came up. But that other picture of her showed her holding a bow and a spear, which don't exactly say "fertility" to me.

Alright I gave the game one more chance playing as a Rogue/Ninja, and it's so so so much better than Black Mage, feels great, like I'm actually enjoying the game

Black mage is a rough class to use a lot of static positioning to have the most of your damage problem is in the dungeons you have to move around a lot and in later ones ennemies have different attacks some even aoes. Is a rough class to play.

When you're trying to get a house with no success since Heavensward. You plan to unsub until the next big patch. But just for the lols enter the lottery for a large plot as number 64 (no idea how many entered after me).
And then you win.

Yeah, that happened.

Today is easier get in to the housing. Apartments can always be found even in congested servers. The new lottery system for private homes also seems to work they added also a new data center.

You can enter the lottery only once every 9 days (3 times per month) and there are 5-7 other people bidding on any given home. Haven't had any luck thus far. Many of the new FC wards are half empty. I would just go to Limsa and ask in /shout for people to help me create my own shell FC and then buy a FC plot for myself, but that would mean leaving the FC I am currently in. I raided savage with them last expansion and would feel bad ditching them just to get a house, and strangely FFXIV doesn't allow you to be a part of multiple different FCs.

How's the population for the game these days? Mildly curious, I unsubbed and fell out of it right at the end of... (lol had to go look at the expansion pack list because I forgot so much) Stormblood on basically the last dungeon even though I bought Shadowbringers. Debating if it might be worth going back to at least finish the expacks I bought at some point or if I should just write it off as a sunk cost.

Population is high is no more possible to create characters inside the crystal data center. As for ousing i have to correct a statement i managed to bid for a lot last week and i did for another this week. Shadowbringer is amazing

On Crystal the population is high enough that you can queue for almost any duty or roulette and pop within 10 minutes, as long as it is not between 12 AM and 6 AM. The new data centers are sparsely populated and the queue times are quite long, so everyone bites the bullet and just uses Data Center Travel to go to Crystal to do group content with other people.

Content wise, each expansion after Stormblood has had less and less content. You now only get one single dungeon per patch. No new deep dungeon has been added. In Stormblood, Eureka got 4 zones, but in ShB Bozja only got two, and Endwalker has no endgame combat zones whatsoever. Classes have become more homogenized and simplified than ever before. The narrative direction has changed from the grounded geopolitical conflict of ARR and HW where there were limits to what the protagonists could do, to feelgood Light vs Dark kingdom hearts stuff and everyone holds hands and sings kumbaya. The grit of the setting got washed down. The game discarded the Garlemald arc it hyped up, and the story of the latest expansion and patch storyline is very wonky The game has no longevity once you are caught up on the visual novel. I'd say that the game can be fun if you buy and resub for a month, but don't expect the gameplay to be very engaging and the story will be disappointing if you were invested in ARR and HW.

That sucks, yeah, late ARR and HW were highlights for me. Stormblood just had some bullshit autolosses against some fag with a gem in his head.

Two questions:

1) What is Crystal? Is this a new thing? Or is it a particular shard group?
2) 12-6am what time zone? You're in NA too, right? I mostly ask because I know that Meb is in a completely different time zone.

Thanks for the info, both.

Crystal is a data center include 5 servers i think. About the content there is always the after expansion content that is plenty they added a lot of new trials after endwalker also a game mode that is called island sanctuary that allow you to own and grow a personal island

Is this the new clear blue theme? How does it fit with the rest of the UI? I thought the oldschool FF theme was neat, but it contrasted badly with too many of the menus.

Everything in this game contrasts badly with each other so what's the problem?
