Furries to be considered as such must have paws for feet and animals heads. Miqo'tes and Viera are no more furry than an Orc is. Most of the time orcs have tusks and sometimes a pig nose. By your logic 99 percent of all fantasy races are furries!

Elves are unpopular in FFXIV because of their animations, and their long necks look weird and can only be disguised by a handful of chestpieces with cravats and high collars, most of which can't be obtained the later expansions. I once fantasiaed from Lalafell to Elezen and was able to make a suave gentleman, but I was too attached to my Lala look and went back. (Also, the WoL is written as a young man who is treated as the same age as Alisaie and Alphinaud and looks up to the adults as authority figures. Playing a middle-aged man leads to an incongruous story experience).
They started adding anachronistic modern clothing during Stormblood.

I think he's talking about the fugly textures, lack of shadows, shitty camera, all of which makes the picture look very early 2000s.
