Are there any plans for The Long War mod to be ported over to the expansion? After tinkering with vanilla it seems like the only way to have some decent challenge and fun with this game.

I was like "ehhh nah" when the expansion was like 6 bucks on a Steam sale, my Xcom enthusiasm is rock bottom

This Saturday at PAX East, the next big game from Firaxis will be announced.
Tic-tac-toe in beautiful 3D graphics. There will be 4 races: cats, dogs, goats, chimps all realistically modeled and animated. None of them can draw crosses or circles worth crap so there will be 2 DLCs: one that adds opposable thumbs, another one that adds cybernetic implants allowing them to draw crosses or circles. If you don't have those DLCs you can try holding the pencil with paws or mouth, but the mouse pointer will move chaotically. Also, cats can claw, dogs can bite, goats can ram and chimps throw feces.

Damn I wish it will be Alpha Centauri but it's traing me into pieces - at one side I want a sequel. But on the other side I bet Firaxis will make it on CivV engine, which is a pinnacle of faggotry and ruination. And most of all - Firaxis failed to recreate diplomatic AI of the first AC in all future civ games. In fact their AI gone down the drain with each installment. So I am sceptical about the AC sequel.

Maybe they'll go deeper with a turn based game now that they know people love the concept again.
Civ5 and Xcom kept me entertained for a good month or so. I cant see them going backwards on those iterations.

Firaxis is dead to me, to be honest. XCom could EASILY have been a genuine classic modern strategy game. It would have taken SO LITTLE to put in patrolling aliens, more randomisable levels and more tactical depth, but no. Civ5 was an abomination that looked like a Facebook game.

They are beyond repair. You do not want SMAC2 to be made.

Isn't Alpha Centauri in EA's hands?

I wouldn't mind a AAA Ace Patrol game :obviously:

Actually LongWar mod fixed shitload of EU and EW crap and made game closer to original classic.
I've been looking at some streams of it, and it actually seems a lot better. It still has a lot of dumb shit of course, alien pods activating and being rather stationary, fixed maps. But geoscape seems to work a lot better.

Isnt Civ 6 the most logical option? Civ 4 came out in sept 2010, around 3,5 years ago. Releasing late 2014 would mean a development time of 4+ years. Seems reasonable.
